Must be injured NB. Didn’t play for his Brisbane club last week and hasn’t been named this week either.

Campbell hasn’t played Hospital Cup so I assume it’s an injury

Coach’s Corner Issue 15: Where the Waratahs defence is going astray

At minimum a YC and judging by Toomua’s reaction he knew it as well. The only thing that made me question a red card is that the tackle/contact was made with his arm(not shoulder) and there was some contact to Collins’ shoulder before the head. I’m not fully up to date on the rule book but it does seem that most RC’s are given for direct shoulder contact to the head while an arm being thrown out or making contact first seems to get a YC.

Why there are more Townsville twists and turns to come for the Reds in Super Rugby Trans-Tasman

After watching this years 6Nations where multiple RC’s were given for this exact cleanout it was very confusing to only see a penalty. As far as I could tell there were no mitigating circumstances but the referee/TMO referred to Barret “15 has done everything right” which is a little confusing considering the direct contact to the head. To Jordies credit he certainly did get low but I’m not sure that is a mitigating factor if there is direct contact to the head and the player pilfering held a constant postion/body height himself. Certainly seems there are different interpretations across different competitions.

I think the scrum is at 73:00. Highlanders scrum on their own line. The referee puts his arm out for advantage, Himeno comes off the back and could have potentially offloaded or passed to Smith in space.
I agree with your general point Jacko. It’s unclear to me why they don’t get treated more like an advantage at a maul. Let the team with the advantage play on and lets watch some running rugby. I think the difference is that teams are often clearly scrummaging for penalties to gain territory or have a kick at goal rather than restarting play. I would definitely welcome referees insisting on teams playing on in these scenarios.

Having rewatched a couple of times as well I believe the penalty is on Brumbies 19(Stowers I think) who is defending next to the post on the final pick and drive that ASY gets stopped on. If you stop the tape at 83:51 Brumbies 19 is down on one hand and looks to be half a meter or so offside directly in front of Berry when ASY picks up the ball. Not much in it but I’m guessing that’s what the penalty was awarded for and would also explain why there was no advantage before as the infringement had just occurred.
