Passionate Rugby League fan, who supports Manly. Apart from Rugby League I enjoy motorsports, especially Formula 1.

Yes Mushi, spot on. The NRL aren’t going to the United States to get them playing the game, they are chasing a slice of the gambling market, hence the gambling capital of the States, Las Vegas

But as seen above, no one seems to understand this. I like the add, it shows some great skills, the diving tries by the wingers and this rubbish about the hits would be sin bin able offences.. Rubbish, at most they’d be grade 1 charges with fines, and the money could be used for gambling if need be.

'No pads, no helmets, no fear': NRL launches Las Vegas blitz to fill NFL stadium with league 'from another universe'

Still here, no further evidence (not that I need to provide any) from what i tried to explain to you previously Mama.

No matter what I tell you, you’re not going to be satisfied, and want to complain about a few RL players ( less than 5 players since the inception of Rugby League SOO) who grew up in the ACT, played their junior years in a competition administered by the NSW CRL, and through hard work have been selected to rep NSW in Origin (rightly or wrongly).

I’ve informed you of the rules, if you don’t want yo accept them thats your prerogative.

I’ll sit back and enjoy the local kids playing in the ACT juniors growing up knowing that if they are good enough RL players they may, one day be selected to play for NSW in an Origin game.

PS: I’m no plant from RL HQ like you implied. Just a passionate RL fan who occasionally gets fed up with fans of other codes whinging about the game I love.

Samoa to approach Sonny Bill Williams for international league return

It makes no mention of it because as I mentioned previously the ACT Rugby League competition is governed by NSW Country Rugby League (CRL).. Therefore, any ACT registered player is available to play for NSW in SOO.
Why is that so hard to understand?

Your example of a Victorian player is incorrect, unless they move to the ACT before their 13th birthday, as the game in Victoria is looked after by the VRL.

Samoa to approach Sonny Bill Williams for international league return

Because the ACT Rugby League competition (the Canberra Cup) is under the control of CRL and soon to be NSWRL, when they merge with CRL next year.

Pete, I think given that the Arrows are a Canadian team that has moved from Ottawa to Toronto, and in their start up year they’d expect to have sizable crowds. But I’m sure they’d be disappointed with their largest home crowd being 2,488 (at Lamport Stadium) and the much smaller York Lions Stadium, they had 1,913 in attendance.
I think it might be a while before they need to move to a larger stadium

Also according to their webpage, they have a few more than 2 international players in their team, and that’s not including the two NZ players who have lived their (in Canada for three years) and qualify for the Canadian Rugby Team.

Wolfpack win frosty promotion from Super League clubs

I reckon the biggest couple would have to be Andre Agassi and Steffi Graff

'SerMax': Are Zac Lomax and Jessica Sergis the 'Posh and Becks' of the NRL?

True, and go back 10 years they beat Melbourne 40 – 0 in the Grand final. Why would supporters show up to watch inept performances from a team that has been poorly coached for the past 3 years and who have owners who more concerned about getting their own premiership rings then establishing proper training and recovery facilities.

As for travelling, I am a Manly fan based in Canberra, i attended 5 games at Brooky this year, plus Penrith, Cronulla, Capmbelltown and of course Canberra. I would have gone to more games at brooky but due to scheduling and kids sport my familiy and I were unable.

I feel manly are an easy target, I mean only a few years ago we had 14,000 to the semi final vs Nth Qld… a team that is what some 3,000 kms away.. Sharks and Penrith played at the same venue and same timeslot and got what 5,000 more spectators.. Yeah right. Manly fans don’t travel.

Necessary expansion: Why Manly should be sent to Perth

“AFL has more markets, higher participation, better attendance, more realistic opportunities for growth and a culture that doesn’t turn people away.” …. Mmmm “a culture that doesn’t turn people away.”
Hannah Mouncey says “Hi”

The smaller NRL crowds confirm the AFL is the superior code? Rubbish!

+1

Thanks Steve for giving an honest opinion and not some fluff piece about how the NRL or Canberra Raiders owe something to Campo.

For what it is worth, I have enjoyed many a game out at Bruce Stadium in Canberra watching and often marvelling the skills and power of Terry Campese. Those memories will stay with me for a long time.

Please Terry don’t let your legacy be ruined by ignoring your current abilities. Think long and hard about your future, I for one think you’d make a fine coach and mentor to the kids coming through, probably far better than your current coach.

STEVE TURNER: Terry Campese’s Canberra career is at the end

Thanks for that Tad, seems as though the SANFL must be an awesome competition. You conviniently forget to mention that not the said SANFL game with 10,000 attending (it was ANZAC day after all) not only had a higher attendance then two NRL games, but also an AFL game held in Manuka between GWS and Port Adelaide where 6549 attended.

However with a little closer inspection we can see when SANFL games are not played on ANZAC day crowds of less than 2,000 are the norm.

@ Ben thanks for a good read mate, and I am glad to see you passionate about expanding Rugby League to places such as Adelaide. But alas, like others on here have stated the next round of Rugby League expansion should be Perth and Brisbane 2 (hopefully not the Bombers).

Sharks, Pandas or Rams, just get us some NRL in Adelaide
