I think its a good idea in principle, it certainly would increase the intensity in those current end of season dead rubbers between struggling sides, if they were playing for their survival in the top division.
but there is nowhere near enough talent or interest to sustain what would be effectively 24 NRL sides
What if the NRL was really all about the fans?
picking on one club for “buying” trophies in an era where it is almost the only method able to succeed, and practiced by every single “big club” is akin to hating only one cyclist for being a drug cheat while still admiring the others.

Petrie was eye- gouging Lake at the time. Harvey’s assault was practically unprovoked, if he went off every time someone runs into him, he’d be constantly suspended. I’d argue Harvey’s was at least equivalent – particularly given that the forearm choke, with his whole weight behind it, is much more forceful than the hands on the jumper/ neck choke. not to mention that Harvey has a significant history of unprovoked attacks on opposition players, he missed 6 games just last year for his personal war against the selwoods. then you have to add whatever penalty applies to the over the shoulder throw.
Harvey got off lightly, and he knows it.

even as a Sydney fan I agree with you Gene. There’s no way Richards is better than Harry Taylor (among others) and as good as Kennedy has been inside, he doesn’t have the same capabilities as Ablett or Pendles for example outside
