No, they are in the position they are in now because they have consistently, for whatever reason, been a financial basket case since 2011. Sure COVID brought things to a head but as the report states, they were already haemorrhaging money BY 2020.

RA is just as culpable as 2017 should still have been in the front of their mind.

UPDATE: RA say they were blindsided over Rebels' finances, reject private consortium claim as administrator backs club's survival

We must have been reading a completely different article..

I hate to say ‘I told you so’ but..

The Wrap: Code Orange as looming Rebels decision places rugby pathways at risk

I told you so! 🙂

UPDATE: RA say they were blindsided over Rebels' finances, reject private consortium claim as administrator backs club's survival

‘as it doesn’t need the Rebels to be profitable for the owners to make money from it’
so..how does that benefit Rugby?
That is exactly what the problem has been with the Rebels all along – owners making money out of the Rebels whilst the team flounders from one financial disaster to another. Will we be back here in five years discussing the next round of Rebels draining more millons?

Definitely get rid of the Nominations committee.. I can’t believe it survived the last review of the ARU’s governance. It’s something that belongs to a private club at the most, not a national sporting organisation.

'Definition of madness': Rugby reform must start with total cleanout of RA board - and this should happen next

Did Trefor and Gary both play 1sts together at Kalamunda as well?

Neddies' O'Callaghan trio set to revive memories of Diamond years in first for Perth premier grade club

What value was there in saying ”former Waratah Carlo Tizzano’..because before he was at the tahs he was..at the Force!

Reds' 'unbelievable, unfathomable' double disaster sums up shocker as Force spring stunning upset

Mind you, we were doing a pretty good job ourselves with the Save the Force Campaign

'He screwed our state': The act that still angers Twiggy Forrest and why he's not ready to jump back in

His renewable energy, and Harvey Beef would get massive exposure for starters.

'He screwed our state': The act that still angers Twiggy Forrest and why he's not ready to jump back in

Given that the NRC does not look like it will get another guernsey anytime soon..despite the obvious need for it..I wonder if Twiggy will bring back Rapid Rugby? Not necessarily to help RA but to advance his other business interests?

'He screwed our state': The act that still angers Twiggy Forrest and why he's not ready to jump back in

And to RA’s great credit they brought it back in 2018! Just don’t ask anyone because they did a good job keeping it a secret

'Destroyed the soul of rugby': Ex-NZR boss delivers damning verdict of Super direction - and his plan to fix it

Even more galling considering the fact that the Victorian Union has for at least the last 10 years received significantly more for community Rugby than WA.

Something definitely stinks when it comes to Victorian rugby and money, seems to be a bottomless pit

The Wrap: Code Orange as looming Rebels decision places rugby pathways at risk

Given that it’s taken league in WA nearly 30 years and nearly a million more residents to recover from the Western Reds debacle it may be a very long game Craigo

'Hunger Games in headgear': Why cash is flowing out west (and it's not to do with Twiggy)

Local Rugby League in WA peaked in the late 80’s and the number of clubs is not even half the number of Union clubs.

Whilst a NRL team may grab the headlines and gather a strong supporter base to start with (like the Fore did), I doubt that it will overtake union in the short or medium term, espeially if it fails to achieve some on-field success. Just look at how the Glory are going

Can someone explain what the 5.7 million in debts owed to the board members would be made up of?

CONFIRMED: Rebels CEO made redundant and coaches have contract cuts as hopes of Super Rugby survival fade

I don’t mean that in a nasty way..I am generally curious how all the teams are going membership wise as it seems to be a state secret

What is the Rebels' endgame? A Super club in Melbourne makes sense - but only if their players play in local comps

I’d be curious to see how the Rebels membership numbers compare with other clubs

What is the Rebels' endgame? A Super club in Melbourne makes sense - but only if their players play in local comps

I’m not against having a Team in Melbourne, just against someone from Melbourne managing it.. something feels rotten.. Rebel’s losses since 2011 have continually been astronomically higher than all other teams yet no one can explain why

What is the Rebels' endgame? A Super club in Melbourne makes sense - but only if their players play in local comps

no problems with keeping the Rebels but it has to be owned and manged by RA. At least then the buck will stop with them. Ever since they were established it’s been a revolving door of ownership and management and no accountability

Rugby Australia is back where they hoped they would never return - and their next move could make or break the game

Hmm..Sounds like the Own the Force campaign, which raised $3-4 million which was then matched by Twiggy

Rugby Australia is back where they hoped they would never return - and their next move could make or break the game

Are you serious???

CONFIRMED: Rebels fall into voluntary administration as Rugby Australia seeks 'sustainable and successful future'

Seriously?? After the number of ‘Get out of Jail’ cards RA has given them??

CONFIRMED: Rebels fall into voluntary administration as Rugby Australia seeks 'sustainable and successful future'

fair enough..

Rebels told they will play Super Rugby in 2024 but future on shaky ground as voluntary administration looms

Ok..but everytime the rebels get in strife it’s a case of revolving ownership, but noone stops to ask why are they in the s%^t again?

Rebels told they will play Super Rugby in 2024 but future on shaky ground as voluntary administration looms

ongoing losses incurred (and in most cases forgiven) by the Rebels since 2011
