Are you saying Ponting is a better judge than Don?
The fact is Don would be coach of Delhi, but is ignored for the role because he’s from WA.

'As much talent as Warner coming through': Ponting's big call as Fraser-McGurk gets late IPL contract

Jan 26 is when the citizenship act was passed in 1949. It signifies the opposite of British colonisation, it is the day everyone born in Australia or in Australia for at least 5 years became an Australian citizen instead of a British citizen. The date has nothing to do with any significant event for Captain Cook or the First Fleet. Learn history.

Over the last 7 or 8 years India have been quick to get rid of experienced quality players and replace them with shiny new things. It didn’t work on Sunday.

When there are deliberate attempts to manufacture certain conditions it’s possibly the toss makes a difference. But over time this is proven not to be the case.

Did you watch the game Sunday night?

'India still best 50 overs team in the world': Former star blames 'sandpaper pitch' and toss of the coin for World Cup loss

On paper
Warner=Rohit, Head>Gill, Smith=Kohli, Marsh>Surya, Rahul>Inglis, Marnus>Shreyas, Maxwell>Jadeja, Starve>Bumrah, Cummins> Shami, Hazelwood> Siraj, Zampa>Kuldeep.

India are kidding themselves if they think they’re better on paper. They pull level on 2 spots and ahead on 1

Missed out on one test… Imagine the circus selection would be if that was all that it took.

Even if he has ‘Sandpapergate’ secrets, Warner should be dropped - but who'll take his spot?

He’s not going that badly? He made 90 odd runs in the second test, as did Khawaja. You would take that for sure.

The conditions he had to bat in the third test were as tough as it gets and he missed out. As did Smith and Labs.

Any other solution is not an improvement to the team. Green probably misses out for Marsh, he didn’t take his opportunity when it presented. He certainly shouldn’t be considered as an opener, neither should Head, he’s been out most consistent player for the last two years batting at 5.

Pucovski clearly had problems against short bowling. He’s fortunate the Indian attack is weakened at the moment or her would have got more of it.

If he fixes that he’ll possibly stay long term, if he doesn’t he almost certainly will be dropped.

Green could possibly be in long term, he’d be more likely if Wade didn’t keep giving his wicket away when he is going okay and putting pressure on. For that reason alone Head is a better prospect than Wade, error he may not have made as many hundreds, he’s made far more useful contributions and in situations where things have been desperate he has made useful scores.

Don't dare drop them – Cameron Green and Will Pucovski deserve long Test stints

He is Mick, second best keeper in the country to Paine with a really impressive Aus A and PM xi record.

Forget Test tons: Tim Paine is Australia's 'Cameo King'

It’s entirely possible he’ll never play for Australia.

He’s a top order bat. Warner doesn’t look like stopping soon, Burns may contribute making runs and keep his spot, he’s not far away from cementing his spot. The guys at 3 and 4 are quite good players. So who does he replace?

If he turns himself into a middle order player he might stand a better chance, but Wade and Head are both doing what it takes right now, and Wade does not look in a hurry to retire.

Also, to be hit as often as he has suggests a weakness in his technique, he’s also had done struggles with his thoughts, both will be exploited by opponents at test level.

Most likely there will be an opportunity and the selectors will give him a go, but I don’t see that he’s as much of a certainty as everyone thinks.

Along with excellent bowling there was certainly some good fortune.

Forget Test tons: Tim Paine is Australia's 'Cameo King'

Look out for Harry Neilsen, the selectors like him as he’s played a few PM and Aus A games, he’s an excellent keeper and a very good bat.

If possible keeps going, his age profile will be better than the rest of them.

Forget Test tons: Tim Paine is Australia's 'Cameo King'

The biggest problem for Carey is that Harry Neilsen is a better keeper and his batting is improving rapidly, Carey may not even continue as SACA first choice keeper.

Because Smith should never be Captain again.. making now too soon.
