FYI They play the following teams twice:
Brisbane, Port, Geelong, Essendon, Richmond, West Coast

AFL Oracle: After early September exits last year, can these finals also-rans take a leap forward in 2024?

Not sure how many people are Bullish, every expert prediction I’ve read elsewhere has them outside the 8. I also don’t think their draw is significantly harder than last year.
Im a saints fan so have some bias but they made the 8 last year and King only played 11 games, and Membrey 3 or 4. If they can keep those guys on the park and with some natural progression from their young kids I see them just inside the 8.

Was a shocking hit and if 7-8 is the new standard then Im OK with that. But we will only see if one of the AFL’s poster boys lays the same hit….
Your clincher isnt really a clincher as Webster isnt in the Saints best 22 and even if he was its doubtful he would walk straight into the AFL side after 7 weeks off.

I think the saints were unfairly written off before the season as a bottom 4 side. They have been a middling team for a few years and there was no reason to suggest they wouldn’t still be a middling team this year.
They only lost Paddy Ryder and Dan Hannebery (if he counts) to retirement after finishing 10th last year. They have some good young players who haven’t attracted much attention and their key player is a 22 year old full forward with his best still well ahead of him.
The goal should always have been sneaking into the 8 and getting games into their young blokes. Like you said they need to win half their games to accomplish this, and if they do I would say this season has been a massive success.

Are waning Saints any good... or have they just had an easy run?

But he wasn’t concussed? He passed the HIA and was only subbed off due to his foot issue.
Butler even released his left arm before they hit the ground.
