Dib, and Michael need to have a mention, both great IBF Feather and Super-featherweight champions. Lester Ellis, just misses out as he was only a wordl champ for about six months despite the titles that he won with the WBF and IBO. But three titles in three divisions in less than a year is pretty impressive.

The top 10 Australian boxers of all time

I think that problem is that the amatuer ranks are dead. No one wnats to be an amateuar amymore, every fighter wants to be a pro from the get go and Anthony Mundine is mostly to blame. Virtually no ameatuar record and yet became a three time world champion. Gradute this championships wins and title reigns were abit of a joke but still. more than most fighters did. Jeff Horn was a legit ametaur and became a world champ because of it. Whether he becomes world champ again, is another story

Aussie boxing on the ropes

nah, the Storm would of got them eventually

Who would have won the 1997 Telecom Bowl?

How Geale v Soliman never happened is a mystery to me, but Ryan’s comment below I think sums it up well.

Aussie boxing an evolving enigma

Geale did what Mundine should of, went overseas. Geale did what no aussie ever has and headline a fight in New York City, not even Kostya Tszyu did that. But against GGG and Cotto Geale showed that he has the heart the size of a tic-tac. Quit far too early, if Choc was in those fights, you would have to pick him off the canvas before he would have quit. This is a really tough one considering that Mundine beat Geale in 09 and Geale beat Mundine in 13. Looking achievement wise, Geale has it all over Mundine, beat legit champs for legit titles an unified champ (the first since Tszyu) and fought the best in the division. Choc never did that, never beat a legit champ for a legit title as his 2 WBA SMW titles were vacant, when he won them. Geale was the only champ he had beaten for a title and the IBO doesnt count. So Geale has it over Choc everyday of the week.

Where do Mundine and Geale rank in Aussie boxing history?

Even though this comment is six years old, it is still a very relevant comment and holds weight to this day. Green was not a great fighter, let’s be serious, at Super-middleweight he was a beast but could not get past Choc and then fought a nothing Stripe Drew for his WBA title. Then his two regins as the IBO champ were a embarrassment. Won the vacant title against a figther that never fought cruiserweight in his life. Then beat a 40 year old RJJ, then dragged Manny Siaca out of rehab (another you never fought at cruiserweight), then Briggs the worst fight in OZ history if not even, then BJ Flores a weight drained heavyweight and when he finally fought a real fighter at the 200lbs limit he got he arse kicked by Antonio Tarver. I would not rate Green in the top 30. Tszyu was a far better fighter than Fenech, no doubt. Also I like to mention that Tszyu fought Grove 5 years after Fenech at age 36, so not at his best.

Where do Mundine and Geale rank in Aussie boxing history?

Well it seems that the Mundine Era is not quite over yet. Tim Tszyu wants to fight him as Mundine is chasing a fight with Michael Zerefa to obtain a rematch with Horn. Tszyu has also expressed an interest in fighting Zerefa and Horn. Should be an interesting couple of months.

Can Australian boxing survive the post-Mundine era?

1998 was a repeat of 1988, Manly were the best until the Broncos came along

Who would have won the 1997 Telecom Bowl?

would of beaten them to.

Who would have won the 1997 Telecom Bowl?

exactly good memory, dont forget Uncle Rupert had a lot to do with that. It’s a shame that channel nine’s Parker v Murdoch tv series didnt mention the super league war.

Who would have won the 1997 Telecom Bowl?

Broncos would have and did smack the living daylights out of the Knights. Why do you think Super League picked up the Broncos first for the competetion.

Who would have won the 1997 Telecom Bowl?

what did they think was going to happen?? I 45 yeard that hadn’t fought in near ten years against a fully fit NRL player with a 8-0 record, please when is this sport going to leave the boxing to the boxers?

WATCH: Paul Gallen massacres John Hopoate with second-round KO

well looks like mainevent is desperate to make money with Gallen v Hopoate

Should Horn move up or return to welterweight?

have to stop losing my passwords, ha ah

Should Horn move up or return to welterweight?

I really find it blaffering that this is occuring, Hoppa has not fought in years and has just turned 45. Just because your a security guard does not mean you know how to box. But i do look forward to the very short fight as someone will not doubt get knocked out in less than two rounds, most like Hopoate. I hope Hopoate is prepared to go home broken, bruised and empty handed

Predictable push and shove at Gal and Hoppa's weigh in

Its hard to believe that this is a mainevent at $50. Tim Tszyu is in the co-mainevent to give this some sort of relevance but seriously 50 bucks to watch a fight that wont go past the second round. Oh well we have all been suckered in before, pretty much any Green fight when he was IBO champ and Horn v Mundine for example.
