Interesting article, though it may be moot if we get buggered at set piece and the breakdown as usual.
We need smart rugby players at 13 and 15 to assist the flyhalf. Everyone talks of the greatness of Dan Carter, often overlooked is the fact he had smart rugby players like Conrad and Ben Smith outside him assisting him. For the Wallabies this could be filled by Ikitau / Flook and Wright / Kellaway.

The five candidates for the Wallabies No.10 jersey - and the old heads who may sneak in to join them

You are right, there are other, better, locks than him. But depth in the tight five with players pushing each other for selection is a good thing.

Five things we learned: Schmidt's selection headache, Carter's a No.12 wildcard, and $1m Thor must step up

“Good to see Darcy Swain back in the fold… he looks to have matured somewhat let’s hope this continues over the coming season. All the potential in the world.”

Wondering if he will be another ‘Kevvie Horwill’ type. Hot-headed firebrand penalty magnet who cleaned up his game when given leadership responsibility.

His form was fantastic and as you suggested he has a low error rate. Think it was between him and Hamish Stewart as to who was the most in-form Australian inside centre in the competition.

So the same as his first coming then?

You missed Ryan Smith. He has been very good this year going about his business quietly and efficiently.

I thought Suali’i was the player we were going to build the team around. Isn’t that what the $1.6M is being spent for?

Personally I would prefer to build a team that does not rely on x-factor players but team work to succeed.

Eddie is true about one thing – him leaving has definitely left Australia in a better place than if he had of stayed.

‘good senior back’ and Beale don’t necessarily belong in the same sentence. ‘tahs are going very well without him crabbing across field and hiding in defence.

'I'd love to see him back': Beale set to take first step in rugby comeback, targets milestone event

Think the Force will go well with IFL starting at half. As good as the form he has been in is, Nice White tends to slow the play down a lot by either being late to the ruck or sitting on the ball when he gets there on time. The last few weeks the Force have looked more dangerous with IFL’s quick distribution.

Have no issue whatsoever with Jock’s running or kicking ability. I only have concerns over his tackling as over two games where I watched him closely he seemed to slip off a few tackles. Again, it is a small sample size and he was playing out of position. I am hoping that it was an abnormality as I am hoping he will be a reliable Wallaby fullback this year Kellaway looks to be a winger playing fullback.

Five things we learned: Why Schmidt is in a better place than Rennie was, how Kiss has transformed Reds

I wasn’t referring to the Penaud miss. I watched him closely for the first two games this year and he missed a lot of tackles. Didn’t see him miss any on the weekend though so maybe it is something to do with playing on the wing?

Five things we learned: Why Schmidt is in a better place than Rennie was, how Kiss has transformed Reds

Donaldson has been in the form he was in when he first came on the scene in 2021. He is the incumbent Wallaby 10 and on current form would be a good shout to retain his jersey.

Would still have Bobby V at 8 though. Wilson off the bench with 20-30 minutes left would provide great impact

The ABs have plenty of players to choose from. Don’t think Razor will be too concerned as he has plenty of form players to pick from and the season has only just begun. The Cru are notoriously slow starters.

His attack is good though

Jock needs to work on his tackling. He seems to slip off a lot of tackles.

Waugh reveals shocking $2.6 million unapproved budget blowout on Eddie Jones' World Cup debacle

Iwould like Joe to release a list of skillsets that he wants players vying for selection to show. For example Prop – hold his own in scrums, lifting in lieouts, rcuk involvements and effectiveness.

If this could be done it would be clear for players what the selector / HC is looking for in gaining selection.

If Ned and Jed can back the effort from the weekend up and have the same impact consistently then they should be considered. The same goes for the other contenders Wright, Leota and Cale. As the old saying goes ‘One swallow doesn’t make it summer’.

As good as Daugunu is, I think Flook is a better centre. Happy to spread the talent around a bit so that pressure is applied for all positions.

Think Jock is the best fit for the Reds at 15, opens up more opportunities for them. JP on the swing can fill the departing Marky Marks role for the Wallabies. Defensively JP is a worry a centre, prefer Josh Flook there.

A couple of years ago Ricky had the Raiders playing an exhilarating style of attacking league. Why? He had the players to do so.

Every couple of years Ricky changes the Raiders style of play. Why? He adjusts to the players he has

Even when successful it is difficult for the Raiders to secure marquee players and they seem to play overs to keep the players they develop. Why? Canberra is not a compelling lifestyle choice for young men with lots of money to spend.

Ricky has optimised the players at his disposal. The final question to ask is who do you replace him with?

Sticky question: Has Ricky Stuart taken the Raiders as far as he can?
