Its an age-old conundrum in the AFL too – Melbourne cut bait with Mark Neeld but if Richmond had of done the same with Hardwick, then maybe the three flags don’t happen.

Backing, not sacking, young coaches is what brings results

The shorter break between 2020 and 2021 seasons must surely be accounted for AJ? Much harder for the 2020 also rans to make ground on the stronger teams.

Don’t like it? Play better

Can you see clubs paying out a fringe players contract a couple of weeks before the deadline to have a go at someone that becomes available? The buyout market in the NBA is great.

Time to once more embrace rugby league’s beautiful chaos

What about moving the rest of the season into a Rugby 9s type format? Less players, shorter games, fewer logistical/ medical resources required … why waste a month arguing between the traditionalists vs the progressives and get something onto the pitch?

Craig Bellamy is right - settle down with the ‘innovations’

As an avid NFL Game Pass subscriber, I love the solution AJ, but does the NRL have the cash to even get it off the ground at the moment? Shouldn’t they just be working it out with Nine to stay afloat?

It’s time for rugby league and Channel Nine to part ways

The women will get Freo a flag long before the men do.

Into the unknown: A 2020 season preview

Three big questions for West Coast:

1. Can they replace Riolis class, pressure and link up play?
2. Will their system be stymied again in 2020 like it was in many 2019 games?
3. What’s up with the defence? Limited run outside of Jetta and need Barrass to bounce back.

Or maybe we just have a Government that doesn’t spunk cash on dodgy sports grants and actually invests in health?

If the economy falters because of inadequate health infrastructure then I’d like to think spending on health would increase (as dangerous to the concept of unfettered capitalism as that may be).

What’s more important: Public health or footy?

Does anyone actually want to watch sport at the moment? I take it that we need a break from the uncertainty and anxiety the pandemic is creating, but I’m not sure I’d be able to fully get into a game at the moment (and particularly one without fans). And can we actually expect the players to be giving 100 per cent?

AJ, do you think that the NRL, or even other winter codes, do something like the NBA and NFL and sell content directly to the consumer? or is that a whole new article??

An exhibition weekend with real meaning

“Hundreds of millions of dollars to create a viable entity in a market with ZERO home grown talent or grass roots competition” – thats never stopped the AFL and one of those teams just made a Grand Final.

Small-time thinking won’t achieve big-time goals

V’landys comments make me fearful the NRL will go the way of Holden!

Put a team in Perth and watch it flourish.
