I think Australia is going to struggle.Their best chance would be to attack all out with their so called Pace Battery! and allow Watson and Haddin to hang in there and not play attacking cricket but build modestly and keep their wickets intact,their first target should be to bat 20 overs not lose a wicket even if they have only 50 runs on the board because once they have settled down they can take 8 an over easily.
As far as Ponting is concerned he should have gone yesterday!!!

It is now that the teams start playing for The World Cup .
Yes, the matches before have more or less been warm up games and have given the top 8 a chance to fine tune.
Of the 8 Australia seem to be the weakest because apart from Haddin and Watson no one else seems to be near world class in batting and Lee continues to be the best bet for bowling. ,also , Ponting hasn’t helped the Australian cause with his behaviour. Maybe , maybe if they drop Ponting they might be a better fighting unit , not under Clarke BUT Haddin.
India appear to have the edge with 3 excellent spinners and if Dhoni reads the wicket right he would be tempted to play all 3.
Sri Lanka New Zealand West Indies and South Africa are quite predictable and can be planned against but Pakistan and England are unpredictable.
May the best team win and let us play CRICKET in the truest spirit of the game.

Language is no cop out!I am sure not only Symonds but many others have called Harbhajan , and other Indian cricketers a lot worse and gotten away with it.Had Symonds called harbhajan a monkey I doubt if even the media would have taken notice and I am sure Harbhajan would have found an apt answer instead of running for an enquiry.

I disagree.There was no Racial slur or remark that could be coined as racial.This was blown out of proportion.If indeed there were any racial ramifications why would Symonds want to be back in India fior the IPL?And play with these persons?And in front of the same audience?This Monkeygate business was totally media driven hype .Let us not bring race into sport!And let us have a few more Sportsmen on the field.

Do you seriously believe that Sachin or Harbhajan were being racial in their comments or questioning the ancestry of Symonds?
Then maybe most Australian or even all other country’s players would be in the dock for using language suspecting the parentage of many cricketers.
Lip reading is not an art just watch the lips while these players are frustrated and any person with average education will make out what was said.

As far as the Monkey business goes….. Even if they have not heard of Darwin …coming from an Indian Andrew should have been elated being likened to a God!
On the other hand ” Maki “Which is the start of a swear word….other more colourful words follow ….if broken up to “MA”…which means Mother and ‘ KI ” …which means belonging to ….should not offend anyone!

I disagree, Steve Davis shook his head and his decision was Not Out!He has had it wrong on quite a few occasions this world cup.

Umpires CANNOT be redundant as far as Ricky Ponting is concerned.He needs SUPPORT from every corner! Might not be a bad idea to do an exercise on how many times Ricky has had the umpires blessings whenever he has scored a century or a win in a close match, in some cases even the bowlers help
!In the match against Pakistan today he looked ever so much the innocent boy who has been wronged when Pakistan appealed for a catch .It seemed as if the umpire was being monitored by remote when he said NOT OUT!This time Thank the Gods for the referral system!

This ix not the first time Ricky Ponting has drawn the attention of cricket lovers towards his dark side.Many many years ago even when he wasn’t looked upon as Captain material he landed himself in a mess because of a incident in a night club in Calcutta.
Cricket was and is still considered by many to be a Gentleman’s game! Surprising that Ricky Ponting was even considered for captaincy.Surely Cricket Australia , which has had the distinction of appointing Great captains who have led World Beating Teams will realise even now that Ricky Ponting was and is a bad choice for captain.

While we all appreciate Yuvraj’s coming of age and gate crashing the party in style let’s not forget that Ashwin , Bhaji ,Munaf and Zaheer ALSO Sachin ensured that Australia did not put up a above par score.And again , Sachin and Gambhir along with Raina provided valuable runs, how can one forget the straight six Raina hit of Shaun Tait on the first ball of the over!This was probably the best example of a TEAM EFFORT.
I did say it earlier during the league stage that Ashwin and Raina are going to play an important role in the final stages.
Ponting’s stepping own at this stage does not seem very responsible.He is still what he was a few years back , aggressive , scoring runs occasionally,brash and what the Australians liked him for.If he is fit to play he should continue as captain till the selectors find someone better than him.It would be pointless replacing him with a Clarke!
