I think they got lucky with the shorter Quarters last year, their style is very similar to Ross Lyons teams, hard to maintain over a long period because of the physical demands on the playing group, they were better than St Kilda and Fremantle because they had a few forwards who were reliable goalkickers, I don’t put as much weight on the assistant’s theory, people bagged Alister Clarkson after Hardwick left Hawthorn and said he couldn’t have had success without Hardwick, but that turned out to be wrong.

Why are the Tigers in decline?

people always wanted KB to come back to the tigers, but they respected his right to decide, if or when that was going to happen, lets hope Adam gets the same respect.

We need to respect Adam Goodes' Hall of Fame rejection. Here's why

Think he will do a better job than Worpel in there, hope he can take over Sheild’s role, still need one more quality midfielder.

How the Hawks are planning their return to relevance

Geelong may have recruited well enough to have one last crack!

After a third of the season, each AFL team reviewed

probably not due to Burton’s form, has been injured as much as Wingard since the trade, Port seems to be labeled as a contender since Hinkley took over, hope they keep contending.

Hope it doesn’t burn too bad, may set the build back a year at most I recon.

After a third of the season, each AFL team reviewed

the draft picks for Scully and Patton were low, unlikely to get 2 good midfielders for those picks, Picking Vickery was somewhat bewildering, seems like now they have gone for total rebuild, some of the picks are stop gaps, until younger players gain experience, can’t see Frost and Hartigan getting new contracts.

17 years between 91 and 2008, the draft was supposed to equal everything 1 premiership very 20 years or so. You seem to judge Clarko by higher standards than others, as a loyal hawk i’m prepared to give it more time and remain positive.

After a third of the season, each AFL team reviewed

Yes, I remember that article, agreed with many points made.

My vision for the next decade at Collingwood

Amazing how much luck Hawthorn have had over the last 50 years, must have been the zones before the draft was implemented, lucky luck luck luck!

My vision for the next decade at Collingwood

The fortunes of Richmond and Collingwood seemed to change with the relocation of Neil Balme, it will be interesting to see if the Tigers can keep their stars on the park this year as their style of play is very demanding physically ,the shorter quarters were an advantage to them last year.

My vision for the next decade at Collingwood

Recon they should try Lewis down back, good mark, bit suspect in front of goal. Can’t do worse than our current tall defenders.

Is it time to stick a fork in the Hawks?

I will maintain the Jimmy Stynes fantasy for a little longer, but it’s not looking good for him.

Is it time to stick a fork in the Hawks?

Move on Ceglar Howe Frost Hartigan Brooksby keep the rest at this stage, players develop at different rates. Not everyone has Will Day’s assurance at his age.

Is it time to stick a fork in the Hawks?

Possibly Wingard !

Is it time to stick a fork in the Hawks?

Think they should try Nash on ball instead of Ceglar at least he would be able to keep up with the play and Jump into the other ruckman, he seems to have that Dustin Fetcher ability to accidentally hurt opposition players too!

Is it time to stick a fork in the Hawks?

Midfield will receive a boost when Anderson comes to Hawthorn.

Is it time to stick a fork in the Hawks?

Clarko is just being patient now because he has to be, but I was a little miffed that he pulled out O’meara and Wingard after my tips had been submitted!

Is it time to stick a fork in the Hawks?

I recon it’s a hard one to quantify, they rely a lot on info from their contacts, I don’t know if Bucky still covers the WAFL for us, but it’s still tough when you only see a few videos of the players highlights, they are probably only as good as their network lets them be in some cases.

Six talking points from AFL Round 6

Nobody is arguing that he is not one of the best to pull on a Dockers Jumper, saw him at the Hawks game, was at Optus that day, He and Mundy made our midfielders look kike bystanders, but he is clearly lacking confidence on his set shots at present, he has always been ok on the run from a distance, and I have made this point previously, Longmuir should have him midfield floating back rather than floating forward, I think it is more likely he would provide inspiration by taking Leo Barry type match saving marks then kicking the match winning goals.

Six talking points from AFL Round 6

Tigers have lost direction from the Back half without Vlaustin, plays same spot Hodge did for Hawthorn, Houli has only just come back, can’t write them off yet but you would think they need all their big guns on the park to be a threat, gets harder as list ages!

The AFL's changing of guard is here

selectors railroaded his chances to be a test player, seemed strange at the time, they were giving underperforming players a lot more chances than he had, told him he was going to be picked then left him behind, from memory he was the only player other than Smith who scored a ton in India, shame its too late for him now.

Wade and Pucovski miss out on Cricket Australia contract, but Cameron gets the Green light

Most of them were late in the draft, not too much damage done, O’Meara has only played 100 games so far, but seems to have overcome his injuries, has had his best start to the year so far. I think Clarkson has changed course a bit with the draft, with the recent low ladder positions he has finally been able to get some good young talent without having to trade for them and plug holes in the list.

Stood-down Patton announces immediate AFL retirement

Getting back Dangerfield and actually getting Cameron on the field will keep them around the mark, only seen them against Hawthorn and they were less than inspiring, will need some new blood in the midfield soon to replace Selwood and Dangerfield.

Questions don't need to be asked of Geelong yet... but they're coming

You get a different perspective being at the ground, Mundy and Darcy were Fremantle’s most effective players, hats off to Freo they managed to steady things when Hawthorn came back.
