Would much prefer an Aust Day Test in Perth than the late November timeslot when all still at work/school. Strangely Aust Day is still a much bigger event than even NYE in Perth…
At least this year the Test starts on a Friday (instead of Thurs) so a chance of getting decent crowds. However as judged by the exorbitant ticket prices in Dec Vs MCG/SCG Tests, this will play a factor also… (e.g. lower tier tix roughly $100 vs $30-40 for equivalent at MCG). This is the hidden part of how the puzzle is pieced together…
Prepare for the east coast media drivel about WA crowds & a faux picture of empty seats in the sun drenched eastern side of the stadium (40C+).
A better $$ measure is the actual gate/Corporate takings across the Test Match.

Australian cricket 2024-25 schedule CONFIRMED: Perth usurps Gabba 'fortress' for opening Test against India

Hot tip, buy the cheapest tickets on offer as you’ll be able to move to wherever you want to sit!
Just don’t sit on the eastern side of the ground as will be super hot in the sun at that time…
Let’s hope it’s a good game in context?

COVID chaos rocks Aussie camp again as Marsh faces tricky captain assignment after positive test

Can anyone make sense of the WI T20 series scheduling?
Why on earth is the 3rd game being played in Perth on a Tuesday afternoon starting at 4pm (WST)? Pretty much guarantees no-one can make it if they have a job or are at school…

Given the time differences for broadcast, surely this Perth game should have been on Sunday afternoon (say 4 or 5pm WST start, which is anywhere from a 6pm-8pm start time depending on east coast States), with the Adelaide (or Hobart) fixture on the Tuesday with an evening start time (e.g. 6.30pm in Adelaide).

Unless there’s a solid unseen reason, with the game only on Kayo, it’s CA saying we don’t want anyone going to the game. Then you’ll get the ‘faux’ critics asking why doesn’t Perth turn up again, rinse repeat…yawn…

One would have thought, however the point is that we have a very Avg record when viewed this way, see example below…

Windies' dynasty decline a cautionary tale for Australian selectors with major transition period looming

I take your point, but still perplexing when you consider during the period in question;
India won 20 series, 2 drawn & 4 lost (plus the stand alone WTC games in UK)
Australia won 10 series, 5 drawn & 8 lost (incl losing past 4 series to India of which 2 were at home)
We’re a good side but not a great one, often carried by some individual performances…

Windies' dynasty decline a cautionary tale for Australian selectors with major transition period looming

Despite all the back slapping of recent times, we just aren’t that good that we can get away with carrying underperforming batters/bowlers & still win. The selection ‘cartel’ approach which keeps maximum $$ in the pockets of the incumbents, with all singing from the same hymn book when someone is going through yet another away series slump, has the knock on effect of discouraging prospective Shield players from genuinely dedicating themselves to the longer form pathway in the hope of a baggy green…
For starters, Boland, Neser & Morris should have had a game each in the past 5 home tests to help keep the main guys fresh…
Since 2016, we have only won a single away series (1-0 vs Pakistan 21/22 on a few roads) out of 10 series. How we still manage to sit close to or atop the Test Championship table each few years is hard to comprehend…
The NZ tour must surely be a chance to rotate others into the starting line up…

Haven’t logged onto the Rugby Roar for ages & unfortunately it’s Groundhog Day still….everything changes, everything stays the same…
– the Rebels in yet another financial hole, but of course it’s everyone else’ fault
– reinvent SR &/or revisit the NRC, plus lament about players going O/S to play
– RA doing another rebuild & personnel shuffles across the board
– embarrassing refereeing interpretations of the Laws e.g. Lawson (YC), Radrada (YC)

Unfortunately the game in Australia is barely watchable as a spectacle, & barely watchable as little/no presence on FTA in any case!! Even the presence of both Aus 7′ teams in the GF’ played to a full house in Perth didn’t rate a mention of results on News bulletins here…
Not sure what the answer is or even if there is one for Aussie sports lovers who’ve generally moved onto other sports interests that are more engaging. I’ve even taken an interest in the EPL again :/
One thing I know for sure is that continuing to “put lipstick on a pig” ain’t the answer.

CONFIRMED: Rebels fall into voluntary administration as Rugby Australia seeks 'sustainable and successful future'

Get Agar there ASAP, word is he’s ok now, certainly for 2 matches. Jadeja and Maharaj have shown how important it is to have a quality left arm orthodox, plus Agar bats well.
Someone needs to feign injury to make it happen!

Starc raving bad: Pace spearhead’s worrying form slump jeopardises Australia’s World Cup hopes

They should have found a way to ‘rest’ Carey. Since the fateful stumping match, he’s given up 35 byes in <4 innings Vs only 9 in his 1st 4 innings (including 3 clean sheets). Far from the only measure of course, but he looks a shadow of his usual self. His footwork is erratic & is often dropping regulation deliveries let alone the Brooks catch.
I suspect the relentless barrage of abuse & media hyperbole fuelling the mob mentality has worn him down mentally & possibly physically through lost sleep etc. The appalling behaviour of vast sections of the crowd was the worst I've witnessed 1st hand at any sporting venue. Much of it was vile in nature & went unchecked by all including the hypocritical England team. As an LCC Member, I won't be renewing nor will I return to Old Trafford as a result. I would have applauded if Cummins had led his team from the field on a number of occasions.
My respect for Virat Kohli has only grown when he interceded on Smith' behalf when the Indian fans went over the top… McCallum, Stokes, Bairstow, Cook et al have only thrown fuel on an illegitimate fire of their own making. Their current 'silent' stance is deafening!
