Yeah, he has always looked pretty good behind a winning pack.

'Triple threat' Donaldson leads Force to massive win over Drua to keep Super Rugby finals hopes alive

Over exaggeration is sadly something that Oz rugby supporters have become very good at given the dark days we have fallen in to. We are always looking for the next savior who will lead us out of the rugby wasteland. KB simply represents another solid play maker, a second threat that needs to be watched. He is a good pickup for the Force based on his experience and utility. He also provides a solid backup for BD. Whilst Cron has him at 15 he does have the flexibility of playing along side BD in the backline.

hard to look good as a 10 when your forwards are going backwards all night. Before criticizing a 10 you really need to see what’s happening in the engine room. Slow or poor delivery to the 10 takes away time and space. The 10 just becomes an easy target. Was glad to see Jack Debreczini get a run. Different 10 to NL but didn’t look that bad in an uninspiring effort from the Brums.

yeah Drua looked like a different team. Possibly spent from last weekend mentally as much as physically.

well said Jack. They all have significant skills and potential. We need to develop these guys not bury them. They are a scarce resource that needs nurturing.

“dominant loss” seems to best describe the Tah’s season. They looked strong and dominant through the whole game but just don’t seem to be able to points on the board. In contrast the Brums seem to score easily off very few opportunities. The Tahs backline don’t seem able to convert from the possession and territory provided by the forwards. Possibly the game management from the 9 and 10 is not working as it should. JG is a great 9 but not sure if they need a more experienced 10 to organize the offense. Brums played below average and will not beat the Blue’s or Cane’s with that performance.

Brumbies beat Waratahs in monsoonal conditions as injury toll goes from bad to worse

A strange game to say the least. Reds just lacked enthusiasm for most of the game. They woke up for brief periods in the second half but were still mentally not in the game. The Rebs scrapped and disrupted any semblance of Reds structure. Not pretty but still a good contest.

'Perhaps it's surgery': Reds win ugly over Rebels to keep top four hopes alive as big-name Wallabies forced off

Face facts. We don’t have a perfect 10 that will select themself. We have 3 young promising candidates who are not perfect but could grow into the position given time and space. For me, it has been impossible to evaluate either NL, CG or BD at test level simply because the team as a whole has performed so poorly.
Forget the old guard. We need to look to develop each of these young guns (possibly Lynah too). We need to keep each of these guys engaged and developing within Australian Rugby. Don’t put the pressure on these guys. Help them to develop and gain confidence at test level.

The five candidates for the Wallabies No.10 jersey - and the old heads who may sneak in to join them

Yeah for sure MO. Putting aggression into the big fella’s is just about impossible. Would rather take a naturally aggressive lock, let him mature and dial him back a bit. Hope Bernie has not made a mistake with Darcy because I think his best days might be ahead of him.

'Toughest decision': Wallaby's blunt admission over form as Force land Brumbies lock, teammate brought to tears

Naive how some people on this thread believe the Brums only live off players from other franchises. What they fail to recognize in that narrative is the role the Brums have played in taking rejects from other places and developing them into champions. The Brums first title was based on rejects from other franchises.

Sad to see him leave the Brums. Have been critical of him over the years but I think he has started to mature and at 26 still has a lot of rugby left in him. Positives are that he remains in Oz rugby, he helps strengthen the Force. He also has the opportunity to start a fresh in a new franchise under new coaching staff. The Force can obviously see a diamond in the rough which I believe he is. The Brums, on the other hand, have lost their most aggressive lock. The remaining locks while technically adequate are not aggressive or intimidating (and never will be).

He is more of a distributor rather than a line breaker. Depends what you want from a 10. He is listed at 89kgs but his upper body needs some bulk.

Brumbies breathe sigh of relief after holding on against physical Drua pack as super sub saves the day

yeah. That’s a shame. 😢 Still only young and maybe a good move. He still has plenty of time to mature as the player I always thought he could be.

As soon as you play an unreliable goal kicker at 10 at test level you are compromised. CG must learn to kick before he will be an automatic selection at 10. I also have not been that impressed by his form this season. NL needs a few more kgs but his game management and kicking is superior to CG. NL needs a kicking coach like an Andrew Mehrtens to fix his kicking. The Wallabies need two reliable 10’s to build around over the next few years.

Fiji is just going from strength to strength. Not too much missing from their game apart from a bit more experience. They have achieved a great balance between aggression and discipline which resulted in the lop-sided penalty count. The Brums failed to match their physicality and aggression at the break down and spent the majority of the game back pedaling as a result of penalties or a pack on roller skates. Mick Byrne is doing a great job with these guys. Exciting to watch but glad the Brums got up 🙂

Crusaders with out Scott Barrett are not that competitive. It was a real competition until he went off injured. I thought without him the Crusaders still put up a decent effort in front of their home crowd. But congrats anyway to the Reds. They are proving to be competitive against kiwi teams.

Reds snap 25-year drought in Christchurch to beat Crusaders as Wilson, Ryan star

Spot on. Not sure but I think Bernie was resting a few players. But that nearly burnt him. Can’t play the likes of Fiji without mobile on ballers like Reimer. Horses for courses and the run on pack was not the right composition. This was clear and obvious after the first 15 minutes. The Brumbies scrum was just disappointing and that is my biggest worry going forward. They just went backwards all night. I hope the reason Swain didn’t start was because he was being rested. He is the form lock for Brums at the moment by a long shot.

Needs a bit more weight but he is looking really good. The whole pack is looking strong with AA back. Nice blend of youth and experience.

Brumbies knock over Hurricanes in statement win as Wright shines again behind forward pack

Yes, it was a genius move. Exactly what he needed. I am looking at him and seeing more and more a Sam Carter. The Brums need forwards other than Valentini to impose their physical will in general play.

Agreed. He just needed to mature (in the head). He just needed to eliminate the errors and control that aggression. He is a big frame and when he gets off the line as quick as he does he really puts the opposition under pressure. He has been the real leader of the pack while Alaalatoa has been injured. Just my opinion but I think his energy is necessary if the Brums are to get over the Blues and Hurricanes. He is more important to the Brums than many realize.

Think Kiss got his substitutions wrong at the end of the game. The team seemed to lose defensive cohesion in that last few minutes.
I also would not have taken that penalty kick at goal at 71 minutes. Referee had just warned the blues that next infringement would result in a yellow card. Would have taken a scrum or a quick tap and kept pressure on the line.

Darcy Swain looks like a man on a mission. For me he has been the stand out forward since the beginning of the season.

Not sure who is taking the biggest risk here :). RA or Schmidt.

Would have liked Dan or Bernie to get a chance. Nationality of coach doesn’t matter in a professional era. Players and coaches are playing for their own future.

A concern is that the interview panel has selected the most amicable and personable applicant. This may not be a desirable selection criteria.

'We'll sack him and be in the same position': Ex-Wallaby condemns Larkham snub as Schmidt deal CONFIRMED

Agree with most of this as long as the Red Card is up for review and can be down graded to yellow based on off field review while the game continues. Also think the reserves bench needs some degree of governance. It is an 80 minutes plus game and forwards need to be conditioned and sized to go a full 80 minutes. Otherwise we become more and more like grid iron.

Well done Quade Cooper! You held your head high and maintained your integrity. Unfortunately EJ needed to surround him self with inexperienced coaching staff and players who would not question his experimentation. Your reputation is only enhanced. Stay humble.
McKellar should be heir apparent and Lord (and Bernie) to complete the package. Stop the cultural cringe. If these guys can be enticed into the fold then we need to get fully behind them… sooner rather than later. RA still really worry me.
