Oddly this weekend will be the 10th season ( out of only 32) that the EPL will be decided on the final day.

But as we chatted yesterday, the fact that a side as talented as Spurs are probably still a billion dollars short of a championship puts the madness it has become into full perspective.

Fixing the Wanderers’ 'losing culture': Timing of ex-Mariners coach's sacking could be perfect for Western Sydney

That’s all unrelated to my point.
The corollary of “Win Now” clubs, as you often, dismissively like to put it…..Is that there must then, inversely, be “Win Later” clubs .
Unless that’s some new century, every child gets a prize nonsense that I’m unfamiliar with…..then I simply refuse to believe that any serious club enters a competition without the primary intention of winning….now.

Every club is a win now club…..that’s just your lame a55 excuse for AFC’s continuing failures.

Sadly now demolished….but every A League city should have its own Mini Estadi.

Logic says ho-hum Victory can't beat the Phoenix and 34,000 hyped-up Kiwis - but it doesn't matter in the slightest

As a code we need to stop criticising people who have a life that’s broader than supporting a football team…

Because, as someone who has seen that side of the fence…I can tell you they already think you are all a little sad …so insults are not going to win any hearts and minds

Fantastic analysis Waz….very revealing as to where our clubs efforts need to be focused.

My father grew up in N17…so despite me being born in Sydney, I was born a Spurs fan…there has never been any question it might be otherwise.

Ange has been a breath of fresh air after the misery triumvirate of Conte, Mo and Nuno. On a certain level, I admire his commitment to a philosophy of football that aspires to idealism , beauty and honour.

But he has also been hopelessly naive at times. The best of the best have found it far too easy to pick apart his narrow defence. We gift the wings to our opponents and because of some vague and poorly executed zonal marking system we are constantly punished by second wave attackers who seemingly appear out of nowhere.
At the other end even middling teams have realised if they sit back we will just pass ourselves sideways into oblivion.

If you take the first 10 games away then apparently Spurs would have finished 12th…and that’s realistically about where the sides performance stands right now.

Where to from here? Who knows.
Son may well have already played his best football. Kulu, BJ and Maddison are never going to be Champions league standard.

The squad needs 6 or 7 new elite players…which in today’s market is around £400 million….If that doesn’t happen Ange will need to find a new pragmatism, otherwise he will be reformatting his CV come the northern autumn.

Ange Postecoglou's civil war with Tottenham fans masks an inconvenient truth about his own failures

I suspect he his also frustrated by continually being asked some pretty stupid questions in the last couple of press conferences.

Ange lashes Tottenham's 'fragile foundations' as fans celebrate City defeat that's set to deny Arsenal title

Ange will need to adapt if he wants to succeed at Spurs…..the ease with which his Celtic teams got towelled up in the Champions League suggest his methods don’t cut it at the highest level.

Unfortunately, the clear and obvious error thing isnt workable in practice….VAR cannot ‘unsee’ a technical offence just because it doesn’t jump out of the screen quickly enough

Handball, totally agree …it used to be simple wasn’t it..did the ball play the hand or the hand play the ball.

The biggest problem is we’ve just replaced one subjective view with an external one..
Take the Rodwell send off or Porro penalty the other night …just how the VAR can’t see them playing the ball is beyond me!

Reffing waste of time: EPL clubs hatch plan to veto VAR - 'damaging the relationship between fans and football'

EFTE is a game changer for long span roofs, it weighs next to nothing, and can be as much as 95% light transparent
Forsyth Barr is small, and has low stands that don’t shade the pitch ..but it’s certainly a precedent worth studying.

Which all reminds me of my favourite football joke ..( can be adapted for any team.)

Juande Ramos says the the Tottenham Head Green Keeper…” The playing pitch is looking fantastic this year “.
Green Keeper ” well I’m not surprised, we put 300 million pounds worth of sh.1.t on it every Saturday! ”

Boomtish!

It’s all possible, lighting, soil temp and air movement can all be controlled artificially …but EPL has the $.

Here our grounds seem to think Davo and a borrowed Victa should be enough.

Roof design is always an unhappy compromise between coverage and letting enough sun in for the grass to grow …It will be a huge problem down in Hobart if they build the covered stadium

FIFA imported and left behind pitch covers for the Women’s WC…but they don’t lay themselves out it …it still requires the groundstaff to be motivated and resourced.

FIFA also donated specialist hand mowers and gave 12mths worth of seminars on pitch care. Their pitch guru was very complimentary of the Oz staff.

So you have to conclude it all gets down to restricted pitch care budgets and a “get away with it” attitude from the venues.

Mariners are so far east you can almost get your feet wet at the stadium!

The level of calculated theatrics has been on the rise across the league this year…

It would be nice for the PFA to remind players that is their fellow professionals they are trying to cheat.

The strange thing is that Redmayne would probably save more penalties if he didn’t carry on like a chook

Luckily SFc have the officials in their pocket….just imagine how fookd we’d be if we weren’t getting preferential treatment from the ref!

Though I believe East Coast Positive is prefered in the community

The Roar's A-League Men tips and predictions: Round 26 - the jostle for finals positions is on in earnest

Yep, JackJumpers certainly show the power of parochialism…but im not sure the NBL offers any meaningful point of comparison…..What they celebrate as outrageous success is no healthier than our doomsday scenarios

The Roar's A-League Men tips and predictions: Round 26 - the jostle for finals positions is on in earnest

Sometime back there was a Tassie born poster on here who seemed convinced that it had no chance of success…that Hobart and Launceston were not big enough and that neither would support the others team….

But I guess that was back when we had higher expectations of our clubs than 5k attendences.
