Out of who we have, I think any opposition would least like to see TW, Marika and Marky as the back 3. Hence it’s the combo i’d most like to see. Wright has been far and away the form 15, Marika is genuine world XV and Mark N shows that he quickly can be (despite suffering on the end of a misfiring backline). I’m a big fan of Kellaway, but “leadership” doesn’t have to mean being in the starting XV. EJ has bigger puzzles to solve, aka hooker and second row/#6!!

I wonder if the snoozer who called him a “traitor” at the SCG is happy now!!!?

Some random comments, in no particular order. I seem to remember Hodge playing 12 against Wales over there years ago and did pretty well. If nothing else (which i guess is actually the case), a direct runner, useful defender and a big boot which all hopefully lends Donaldson some support (and confidence) when needed. Like seeing Donaldson get a chance, Lolesio (like him or not), has had plenty of “development” but still simply isn’t yet an international #10. I assume Gordon is picked as much for Donaldson as anything else given the tah’s connection. But i really hope that doesn’t mean he (Gordon) has license to control the attack from there. There are plenty of great leaders at #9 and imo they simply don’t have a better tactical view of the game than #10. Gordon in particular is best served on focusing on being a good #9 and let Donaldson be the 5/8. Forwards? How Neville has even become a test forward at all is simply beyond me. A hooker that cannot throw is like picking a wicketkeeper/batsman who drops 5 catches an innings, can’t think of a decent cricket analogy for neckrolls. If the young wingers keep developing, we will have a hell of a pool for the back 3.

WALLABIES TEAM: Rennie springs No. 10 surprise, Rebels prop set to debut, Wright returns to fullback

Since coming onto the scene, he and Jordy have too often been guilty of silly speculative offloads and losing possession. As these clips show, both still seem to be looking for the opportunity, but have been much more judicious and making much better decisions. I suspect some “tough love” from coaches would have helped with this development.
