Does anyone think the NZ refs are corrupt? I mean it’s at least worth consideration. It happens in sport. No?

REACTION: 'A complete performance'- Crusaders dominate Blues to take Super Rugby Pacific crown

Is it possible? I’m not saying it’s certain..is it possible that the NZ refs are corrupt? I mean it’s not likely but it has happened in many other sports so it’s not impossible. More likely is that a NZ ref with NZ family, friends and anyone he talks to in the country he lives in, where rugby is a religion, pressures him and causes bias? It’s totally understandable, I mean how could you be objective in that scenario?

I think the super rugby final was great.

Ah ok fair play, same game Kahui also put a chip behind the defence for Olowofela to score. He got a hat trick in that game!

Dave Rennie reveals his Wallabies squad to take on France

At just over 100kg, Robertson simply doesn’t have the size for test rugby, despite being a handy super rugby player.

The national squad is selected based upon the best individual players in the country. It has nothing to do with which state they are playing in – on that front Wallabies selectors couldn’t care less. Do you think they would deliberately pick worse players and want to have less chance of winning just so they don’t pick players from a certain state? Ridiculous.

He visited all of the Super Rugby Aus teams.

It was Richard Kahui who put in the kick for Jordan Olowofela’s try.
Rennie has previously shown in selection and expressed that he likes to pick combinations. Perese was definitely in and that’s why I think (at least partly) that Foketi got the nod.

Why?

Why do you keep saying there is some sort of conspiracy to pick Tahs players over Force players? I mean what do you think the reasoning is (other than merit)?

I didn’t think his defence was too bad but it is a difficult position. Perhaps swap him to inside and work on his defence a bit. The passing part – well he is excellent at offloading, perhaps his decision making needs a bit of work and also a bit more experience. But he has all the right tools and talent to give it a crack

The Wallabies team I'd pick

What about Perese? He has been a beast this year in a well beaten Tahs side. Check out his stats against the Crusaders..probably best of any player in Aus.

The Wallabies team I'd pick

Paisami at inside centre and Perese at outside would be a cracking centre combo!

That explains how they do it…but I mean why can the Aus players not do that? They all train professionally throughout the week and can run as fast and are similar weights. So why do NZ players have more impact with the same tools?

Is there a way, way back for Australian rugby?

Why is it that the kiwi players seem to dominate the Aus players physically when they play at any level? It is not as though they are all 10kgs heavier than Aus players nor that they train twice as much or as hard. Is there any sort of reasonably technical answer to this? Or is it seriously that kiwi players are just harder men than aus players? Would love to be enlightened on this.

Also rather than just making simple mistakes, there is a clear bias from the NZ refs in favour of NZ teams. We used to have neutral refs to avoid these sorts of issues.

The Wrap: Goldilocks, Super Rugby and the three bears

It isn’t the nature of rugby and referees shouldn’t be subjective. There is a rule book, their job is to enforce it. If they can’t do it accurately, they aren’t fit to referee. It’s pretty simple. People have been making excuses for poor decisions for too long and it’s had a negative effect on the game.

Perhaps all of those fans are onto something. Rather than always dismissing these complaints with “it’s the rub of the green” “home ground advantage” “both sides get bad calls occasionally” they could actually be taken seriously and addressed properly. Players don’t get the luxury of constantly making major game changing mistakes for too long before being dropped. Why do refs? And to suggest NZ refs don’t feel pressure in NZ to favour the NZ teams would be to dismiss the obvious and frankly understandable.
