Outplayed by whom? Not McReight in the games against each other. McReight is a lone wolf player, does nothing towards marshal king the Defence, or plugging the holes where needed. Sure, great over the ball, but that’s where he stops. His lack of team play (Wilson the same which is why Valentini got the gong) limits his viability. Comments above re the Chiefs game are correct.

COMMENT: Eddie has made one huge gamble - and it's not the No.10 call - as he avoids ruthless Hooper decision

Good analysis, Highlander.
Strange, no, gutless decision driven by marketing types with no interest whatsoever in the long term growth of rugby in this country.

A dispassionate look at the Eddie Jones appointment

Don’t see this in Noah’s game at all, Francis. Distinct lack of game direction.
Donaldson with little game time recently looks a whole lot more in control.

Why Noah Lolesio should be trusted with the Wallabies' reins on Spring Tour

Actually just a bit smaller. Nobody. Only people who believe the role of a 7 hasn’t changed (and shouldn’t, like Daylight Saving) are backing Fraser now. He may be the 7 of the future, and there are others coming up behind, but he is not Hooper’s superior now.

WILL GENIA: Wallabies should have beaten England, and can win TRC, but Dave Rennie must start getting better results

What absolute rubbish. Hooper has just come back from injury, however, form isn’t the last half dozen games.

Possibles outmuscle the probables and show that they deserve more respect ahead of Wallabies selection

I can’t see a role for Liam Wright. Too many better players ahead of him.

Excellent article, Geoff Thank you. It would be interesting to understand whether Mr Piccone’s advice to his clients is also driven by the reduction in his incremental commissions from his players which, I understand, is paid up front in Japan. I’ve no idea about France.
If his approach is so detrimental to Australian Rugby, I wonder whether it is possible for ARU to simply remove his accreditation.

The Wrap: Giteau’s Law must survive, but with a twist

Good article, Spiro.
I was horrified when Gibson gave Simmons a job and it is coming home to roost.
He was always a powder-puff and his footy nous was seriously lacking. With Hooper (who could at least lead by example, which Simmons will never be able to do) stepping back as captain, there is a not a great deal of choice for the role, so we can expect a year of stupid calls and lack of ref interaction.

The woke Waratahs need some resilience to become winners

Made my morning, Ken 🙂

What the Wallabies need to do to knock off Wales

What a lot of rubbish. QC had an awful season, Gill went for the money as did McMahon. Higgers had an ok season but has never performed at international level. We only need one specialist 8 and we have him. Fardy went to the UK so that his fiancé (at the time) could pursue her music/song writing.

The bold calls Michael Cheika must make for the World Cup squad

Then again Dahl, thinking about Nick’s article the other day forecasting the demise of the jackal player. is Pocock’s time also ending, injuries aside. Looking at Hooper’s tackle stats, why would he not be first choice?

Samu Kerevi is the best performed Wallaby in Super Rugby

I wonder if Izzy has ever heard of the quote purported to have been made by Neitzsche …. “In heaven, all of the interesting people are missing”. Probably not, as he has condemned so may of us to everlasting torment.
However, I agree with AndyF, so if this matter ends up in the ‘Sports Court’ it will be interesting to see the ‘breach’ argument put forward by RA. If one was truly Machiavellian, could RA have the position of looking tough then having to back down due to a Court ruling?

Israel Folau digs in for the fight of his professional life

While no-one can agree Folau showed any nous in repeating his religious views, if RA has turfed him because it has upset the negotiations with Qantas and/or Qantas has cause that to happen, there would be a great deal of hypocrisy here. Qantas code-shares quite openly with Emirates, the airline based in the UAE. The UAE still has the death penalty for homosexuality. The punishment hasn’t been applied recently, but is still on their statutes and they are still imprisoning practising homosexuals in the country. Finally, purportedly Samu Kerevi and Alan AA (and initially Henry Speight) all liked the Folau post. Are they any less guilty and be similarly censured?

By sacking Israel Folau, Rugby Australia showed what true leadership looks like

Almost as silly as Hodge to 10. Good utility player best off the bench. We need a bollocking 13 like Kerevi and there are better wings and fullback to start than Hodge.

Where to next for the Wallabies?

That does not sound like a Larkham comment to me, Dwards. You may need to find the reference or is it simply another rumour?

It's trendy to just blame Cheika, but you'd be wrong

Actually, we don’t know that General. Just because Cheika takes the ‘lumps’ for lack of performance, what do we know about input from the assistants. Nick’s brilliant article yesterday on the forward pack may have just highlighted changes introduced by new appointment Simon Raiwalui and Cheika is backing his calls?

It's trendy to just blame Cheika, but you'd be wrong

Not so sure I agree, Grotto. I see lots of skills issues with the personnel. At this level, they should be better. Mick the Kick is obviously having little impact.

England loss confirms Wallabies are no closer to RWC success

Agree re Banks – he can cover more roles. Jordan P when interviewed during the week stated that he was out with a small hammy tear.
