A bit of a disappointing year of Super Rugby. Top 8 almost already decided by Round 11? That’s sad.

Top eight all set - with one possible exception

With the way the Stormers are playing and with Bulls having multiple home matches left, any chance for the Bulls to pip the Stormers for conference honors?

One can dream. 😛

The High Five: Super Rugby Round 10

Tough match so far! 20 all. Hope the intensity continues.

Jaguares vs Sharks: Super Rugby live scores

Wow! What a dour ending to a weekend of rugby. Neither this match nor the previous one very entertaining.

Sharks vs Rebels highlights: Super Rugby live scores, blog

I am so glad that we are finally seeing the announcement! Hopefully, no teams are cut and we go to a 3 conference system or a better format.

SANZAAR to reveal Super Rugby decisions today

I have the exact same tips as Harry. Was bit divided on the Sharks v Jaguares match, but went with the home team.

Super Rugby Round 7 tips and predictions: Join us for more perfect rounds!

So when last was there a chance of all the Aussie sides losing on one weekend? I feel for you, Australian fans.

Sure thing: No Aussie derby for the first time in 2017 in a round.

Super Rugby Round 6: Nobes, mate, come on…

Everything is still ongoing. It just feels like an emotional roller coaster ride. What we need is action. All this talk and speculation is just driving everyone nuts.

ARU finally speaks out on Super Rugby future

Cut the Lions? That doesn’t seem very likely. They have developed into our best team in the 2016 and now this year.

It’s the Cheetahs that should be stressing.

Force chairman says franchise was set up to fail

Great to have some clarity in this period of darkness. Hopefully this can be followed up with some more clarity about Super Rugby soon.

Roy Morgan's rugby participation numbers are fake news

I am one of those going for the different Blues Brothers in Auckland. Hoping for the bullish upset. 🙂

Super Rugby Round 5 tips and predictions: Do your best, tipsters

Why not cut the ARU for even possibly going through with this? 😐

If an Aussie team is cut, the Brumbies should be the last to go

Whew! Tough round to pick. Surprised to see so many Rebels picks.

Super Rugby Round 5 tips and predictions: Do your best, tipsters

Let’s hope this issue is solved in May. These things have a way of dragging themselves out.

Adrian Gard pleads not guilty to public mischief in All Blacks bugging scandal

Wow! So many suggest a Trans-Tasman competition! But it would just not ever come to light due to New Zealand wanting to play the SA sides and a huge chunk of revenue through SA’s pay TV would be gone.

A simpler idea would be to have 3 conferences of 6 with the Sunwolves joining the Australian Conference, no team cut from Australia, and the Jaguares joining the New Zealand Conference.

Each team plays the teams in their conference home+away and play three teams from each of the other two conferences with 3 home and 3 away. The top 2 of each conference qualifies and the next best 2 teams.

I suggested this in an article from a few weeks back. Travel would be reduced considerably. Yes, there would an outcry for not every team playing every team. But that is unavoidable if you want to go for something simple that will reduce travel.

No easy answers to this Super debacle

I feel a bit wiser. Thank you for an exceptional article! 🙂

The Wrap: Super Rugby speculation misses the mark, England miss the slam

Tough times ahead for my Bulls team. Hope they can at least two on the tour ahead against the Blues, Chiefs and Sunwolves.

The High Five: Super Rugby Round 4

Yeah. But it does mean 7 home games in 10 weeks.

Super Rugby Round 4 tips and predictions: Nobes’ moment of glory

New Zealand teams really want to play the SA teams and would fight really hard to keep that status quo. So I don’t see an Oceanic competition ever happening.

The Super Rugby solution - flick SANZAAR for Oceania Rugby

Bulls to put at least 60 past the Sunwolves. First and only home match for the Bulls in the first 7 weeks. So they want to gain some momentum before their tour to New Zealand and Japan.

Super Rugby Round 4 tips and predictions: Nobes’ moment of glory

I finally figured out how they could implement a 16 team tournament.

Two conferences of 5 and one of 6.

NZ Conference: Blues, Chiefs, Crusaders, Highlanders, Hurricanes, Jaguares

Aus Conference: Reds, Waratahs, Force, Brumbies/Rebels, Sunwolves

SA Conference: Bulls, Cheetahs, Lions, Sharks, Stormers

One Australian Super Rugby side to be cut, Cheetahs boss says

I wouldn’t count the Bulls out just yet. They have many home matches still to come.

Premature analysis of Super Rugby 2017's balance of power

They are looking impressive, but haven’t really been tested much. Their Jaguares match is as you say, looks better now and has been the toughest match for them so far. We’ll see how impressive the Stormers can be against their first New Zealand side, the Chiefs at home in Round 7.

The Wrap: Round 3, what did Henry Speight think about that?

So a three conference system? Play everyone in your conference once (5 matches), play the other two conferences with 3 home matches and 3 away matches per conference (12 matches)? This would total 17 matches (9 Home, 8 Away or 8 Home, 9 Away) with 2 Byes.

Or play everyone in your conference twice (10 matches), play three teams each from each of the other two conferences (6 matches)? This would total 16 matches (8 Home, 8 Away) with 2 Byes.

I would go with option one more, but the schedule must be arranged right to prevent too many successive weeks of travel.

Where does the ARU stand on Super Rugby format changes?

It’s difficult being a rugby fan with so much rugby going on, hey? 😉
