Teams - Wallabies & Souths. Heroes - Viv Richards & Murray Mexted. “Our doubts are traitors"

But it’s not just the Jersey. Seeing both teams at the airport and at press interviews it’s a sea of Maroon on everything they wear. Hats, tracksuits, the lot.

For the “Blues” it’s mostly Grey with Dark Blue and a bit of the traditional Light Blue.

Weirdly it’s just another pointer toward why they are more successful and passionate.

Seinfeld spot on with sports uniform theory - Blue over Origin jersey a comedy of errors

Great article, thanks.

You make some excellent points but the saddest part for me is the constant negativity that permeates not just the Rugby commentary but all facets of News & Sport. So little time and effort goes into positive commentary on nearly every topic of conversation it’s becoming very concerning.

Are the rugby media fulfilling their responsibilities to the game?

Aren’t the two very prominent ex-Wallabies who think Hoops has been bettered, backs?

“Absolute failure” – wow.
Every club in the comp would love that record apart from Storm, Roosters and Panthers.
Professional sporting clubs are a business. Success is judged both on and off the field. Two years running of 30,000 plus memberships and hundreds regularly attending training might be a reflection of how well the club is travelling. Especially considering how long they spent on the bottom of the ladder let alone the relegation saga.
I have the same issue with constant negativity around Brad Arthur. If he loses next week the same negative articles will arise about his coaching and his cattle. When he joined Parra was a mess, both on and off the field. I think since then they could have been in the finals every year. Again many clubs would love that record.
If you redline your business in the real world to make the ultimate profit you run the risk of blowing it up. Same at a footy club. I will take consistent top 4 finishes and the odd premiership over a premiership and years in the wilderness every day of the week. But each to their own.
Good luck to both teams next week. It will be a cracking game

Finals Five: This Penrith side might be really, really good

Nobody is forcing you to watch a single Roosters v Rabbits game Joe.

Sunday’s game was an anomaly and got out of hand. But as a spectacle it was brilliant.

Roosters-Rabbitohs rivalry overblown, overdone and (thank God) over for 2022: Worst game of finals

England hits back at Cheika over Stuart: 'You'd be stupid not to try and learn from him'

Good article and well said.

It’s not the refs but the rules and administration that are wrong.

The refs eventually got both decisions exactly right. According to the rules. They both just disadvantaged the same team incorrectly. I mean by the “run of play” rule not the actual game rule.

The first one advantaged the attacking team incorrectly and the second one happened (accidentally) to advantage the defending team.

Cummins is a great ref and I am sure a great bloke. The system has been wobbly all season so hopefully someone can fine tune it.

Ben Cummins is a good man and a great referee – so lay off him!

Well said Roar Rookie.

Sorry David but she makes a lot of sense.

As a side note though, could the issue be 50 over cricket? I am a tragic/traditionalist and love watching a five day Test. But 20/20, while not pure, is very exciting and the future of the game. I love it.

So Bunney, should 50 over cricket be moved to the scrap heap so we can enjoy the two extremes of this wonderful game?

Meaningless fortnight looms at World Cup

Funny but sadly it seems to be true.

Why pick Pearce when Newcastle and his firm dropping off and not pick the halves that won last series and are winning club games.

NSW are bloody stupid.

Also pick forewords who will control an origin game.

Josh Jackson, Dale Finucane. More grit, less flash.

Pick and stick – just like QLD.

When did Josh Jackson let NSW down?

Stick with Latrell as well. Maloney will sort him out.

Pearce remains favourite for Blues despite Storm loss

Your article is spot on.

QLD cheered when we broke up a winning combination in game 1.

Now they are talking about putting Pearce in just as his and Newcastle’s form drops.

Cleary and Moloney have got Penrith going again and should be playing for the blues. When will NSW learn to stop making changes simply based on club form.

Origin is not club footy. Pick players who perform in big games.

Pick Maloney!!!

Why do the Blues insist on self destructing?

Do you honestly believe after 600 games that Parra surprised them playing at home during the Origin period? Come off it:)

Wayne Bennett lied to us, signed James Roberts and then got pants'd by the Eels on Friday night

Surely Stuart your not serious and wrote this to get a reaction.

How else were they going to get the transaction done without the media circus blowing it up?

The Jet has only ever performed consistently under Bennett and is a Souths junior. He also probably didn’t fit into Seibold’s plans.

Bennett is very good at what he does and the Broncos admin were mad to end that relationship. He has added discipline as well as creativity (Cook’s kicking game) to Souths. He will attract more players and stay at the club for years with various roles.

I am also intrigued as to why Bennett gets all the blame for Newcastle. There was a guy there called Tinkler that from memory blew in and blew out leaving people holding the can.

Souths are far from a one man band. Yes Walker is good but it starts with the Burgess boys making room for Murray’s quick play the balls to Cook’s speed so Reynolds has space to kick well. Then Cody goes to work. No platform, no dazzle.

2.75 on QLD is a really good bet with game one at Suncorp.

Maybe NSW are reading there own press again (as we do every year).

Walkers form has dropped off a bit the last two games and he might get nervous in that cauldron with an out of form half adding pressure.

Containing Ponga is the key, as Munster and he are going to be near impossible. Same could be said for Cook, Tedesco and Walker if the home crowd doesn’t overwhelm.

Will be a great game either way:)

Another Test selection embarrassment after Australia's Melbourne meltdown

He sure did. Warner was a mongrel BEFORE he was given the VC job by CA. Not a great way to settle him down if his behaviour was so undesirable

Bancroft’s BBL return must force CA clarification on Warner

And he wasn’t encouraged to do that by Cricket Australia by being given the VC job. Come off it. They encouraged his behaviour. Sure he went way too far with Sandpapergate but “Slinkawaysutherland” has a lot to answer for:(

Marsh brothers on thin ice

Dogs, Warriors and Canberra to battle for the spoon. Common theme being ordinary or unproven coaches and underperforming spines. Cleary is too good an operator and they will go close to making the eight with a few journeymen. Ricky might do the usual implode thing after a while at the one place. They will sorely miss their rake
