Sydney FC only had 1 afternoon game this year and one 5pm match how many games would really be ruled out because of a clash with a 2;30pm club/social game, I think that is just an excuse, unless the side your friends team follow have a stack of daytime matches.

It still has to be an issue for broadcast revenue, when AFL and NRL get 2 million eyeballs a weekend, and a couple Matilda/Socceroos games get 11 million eyeballs once every 4-8 years, surely as a media contract it can’t be worth as much. Yes its reality but an issue if pricing a broadcast deal.

It’s probably no more than negotiating tactics the leak that News want back into Rugby, as its been leaked that Nine/Stan want to have serious crack at being the total broadcaster after the current NRL deal concludes 2026. The NRL would love hearing this as News couldn’t afford to lose league, it would almost end their business model as Rugby will not fill the void for Foxsports.
