@ Japanese Super Highways,

LOL 🙂 , you make a fair point, at Xmas we should all make a effort, to give those most in need a break.

Where no American has gone before

As for Brewski: I don’t hover around my computer after midnight sweating on every post made on The Roar. I actually have something called a LIFE, you might want to try it sometime. As for now I’m off to do that other thing called WORK.

You make plenty of assumptions, and to a tee, your wrong, your first one is that AFL is so easy to play, that everyone can do it, i proved that argument comprehensively wrong and then as usual you skulk off

Secondly you wrongly assume that everyone is on the same time frame as you (probably Eastern states DST), therefore when we were having our little discussion last night i was probably 3 hours behind you in the West, so it was actually you up very late posting. 🙂

Thirdly, come back any time to discuss a sport that you seriously don’t like, i am more than happy to talk about a sport i like, and then we can work out who is wasting their time.

Where no American has gone before

I remeber it well, having played at football park many times, and had a beer or 2 after some games 🙂

My memories are of players such as Jimmy Black and Edney Blackaby, but i may be wrong, and ex VFL players who were Captain Coaching ACTAFL sides around that time such as Cowboy Neale and Paul Feltham, whom may also have been playing for the ACT.

Maybe Tony Wynd was playing.

Can’t find that team anywhere !!.

The 2013 Foxtel Cup preview

Thanks TC, although i would be more impressed if you could find the actual playing list of the teams, i have found them previously, but can’t seem to now. 🙂

From memory those VFL teams included many players who under normal SOO rules would have been ineligble …… plenty of WA, SA , Tassie boys playing for the VFL teams, although i stand corrected on this.

The 2013 Foxtel Cup preview

Well in their defence it was their 3rds, or so they claimed …….Jezza was Canberra’s captain coach.

While looking for the ACTAFL and Victorian teams at the time, i stumbled on Collingwood as we have never seen them !!!!! …… Eddie must really hate this video. 🙂

I think the more supportive Sheedy is, the more GWS gets in the headlines.

Good mileage for GWS, that is Sheedy’s job.

Not sure about these so called conditions, they go out the window if someone starts having a go at the other party.

Izzy going to bag the AFL?

From time to time over the years Canberra grammar has had junior teams in the local league, but good to see again.

Marist and St Edmunds boys schools lead the way for private school teams, and have had clubs for many years now.

Sheedy to learn from Manchester derby

Nice footage strummer, perhaps i should not mention it but i was at the game when the ACTAFL defeated the VFL in 1980 at Manuka Oval in the ACTAFL’s finest hour, ….. i was very young !.

Those scenes replicate the scenes after North Adelaide beat carlton in 1972.

Dont know the crowd, but the previous year the ACTAFL GF had over 10k, pretty sure it was bigger than that, Canberra was a country town back then on reflection.

The 2013 Foxtel Cup preview

English soccer has lured or attempted to lure hundreds of Gaelic footballers and even hurlers over the last 20 or 30 years, some of the Irish guys that have come here to trial with our AFL clubs have also trialled with EPL clubs.

If Australian Football (AFL) was played with a round ball, you would find exactly the same thing, AFL footballers would be trialling and playing with EPL clubs etc.

Niall Quinn, springs to mind as a gaelic footballer and hurler who was offered a AFL contract before deciding on soccer.

The code-jumping stops at football

You make very good points Martin, i think most people would agree with you.

The battle for the Marngrook Footy Show

Maybe he has, and maybe he hasn’t changed his opinion, but maybe he is more interested in the man management, training regimens, injury prevention and cure and club professionalism that the top soccer clubs may offer.

Sheedy to learn from Manchester derby

Would have to agree.

It says 2 things IMO, SA parochialism and hate of anything Victorian, which is good for state rivalry, and a strong belief in the strength of the SANFL comp.

Of course it could also represent quite a narrow insular attitude as well.

Perhaps a mixture !!. …. and i think that 3 things as well.

The 2013 Foxtel Cup preview

The rule that has led to the most amount of controversy has been the unlimited interchange IMO, it has actually changed the game.

Every game worth it’s salt adds and changes rules and interpretations, that is the sign of a progressive game IMO.

I would be bringing in a maximum amount of i/c’s per game or quarter.

Should the AFL stop changing the rules?

So … does anyone know …… is this Graham Lowe the ex SOO coach and ex Manly CEO ?.

If it is, seems a odd career move to me.

McCartney building unique Bulldogs blueprint

Wookie, are you saying that SANFL teams value the SANFL premiership more than the WAFL or VFL value their own premierships ?, or even the QAFL or AFL Sydney or Canberra ?.

The 2013 Foxtel Cup preview

I very rarely go to AFL games, but i normally go to West Perth FC home games, and enjoy having a kick at 1/4 time, half time etc , or listen to the coach at the breaks, a foxtel game at a suburban ground would bring in a decent crowd IMO.

A West Perth, East perth derby can bring in a crowd of 7k +, depending on ladder postions.

A foxtel game against interstate teams would bring 5k to somewhere like the Arena joondalup, and maybe more at Leederville.

You get a completely different set of fans at Leederville for a West Perth/East Perth derby, than at the Arena, although both maybe home games for West Perth.

The 2013 Foxtel Cup preview

Don’t disagree with that.

It would be interesting to see a top amatuer team such as Perth’s North Beach who won numerous flags under Bill Duckworth play a bottom to mid level WAFL club.

The 2013 Foxtel Cup preview

Claremont should be favourite IMO, they are a very good team, have some generous benefactors, get some good private school footballers who board in Perth, and they work their zone well, and recruit smartly ….. still don’t like them though.

Good to see that the top SANFL teams are in at last ……. seriously what is the matter with SA football that made them watch the first 2 years of the foxtel cup.

The 2013 Foxtel Cup preview

I think the MGFS was/is produced from Deakin University in Melbourne.

Peter Daicos used to be on every time i watched.

I would not have thought it would be that expensive to produce.

The battle for the Marngrook Footy Show

Making the best out of a bad situation, i got a $1.24 for a South African win yesterday morning, and i absolutely hammered it.

I seriously think it shopuld have been $1.04 or something similar.

Reality check for Australian cricket

There is a rumour that fox are looking at picking it up, and SBS is apparently starting a indigenous channel, so at least that’s something in the wind.

Or back to channel 31.

The battle for the Marngrook Footy Show

Agree, perhaps get rid of some useless political or cooking shows which there seems to be so many of.

The battle for the Marngrook Footy Show

Swings and round-a-bouts, bit like NSW/QLD kids getting drafted, one year there is plenty, the next – not so many.

AFL fails test of character

Pencil in both WCE and Freo for membership waiting lists.

AFL fails test of character

Is this the Graham Lowe …. ex Manly CEO and SOO coach ?.

Also heard that the Bulldogs have picked up a Irish Gaelic footballer/hurler.
