Strange call especially considering Simpson got an extra year. I thought his on field experience would be valuable for a young team.
Will always remember him as a magpie, arguably the best player over the two 2010 GFs.

Carlton veteran Dale Thomas announces AFL retirement

Big surprise, especially GWS. They only just fell over the line against swans and power. Dogs are hot hot.
Lions continue to be an unknown.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 22

I was thinking the same thing. To me it seems like the pies have been waiting all year for it to be finals time already. After the week 24 bye I expect they are going to come out all guns blazing.

The AFL's top four go to war in Round 22

If the eagles beat the tigers this weekend they would be nearly unbackable favs for the cup. I’m on the lions to beat the cats.

Me too ATM

Pies and qld team supporter. At least I’ve got a fall back with the lions this year.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 21

You’re kidding right?!? 6 games in a row at the preferred Melbourne finals venue just before finals. Has got to be an advantage. Why wasn’t the games against GWS or Power played at Marvel, they would have been low crowds.

Good luck to them but no other team has that kind of run there.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 21

Confidence plays a huge part in football. Banking those wins, especially in the manner they have done so, should set them up for the finals. Last two rounds will be a great finals warm-up.

However, for the Tigers to have so many games at the MCG just before the finals seems a bit off for me. I think it is advantageous for both the Eagles and Lions to be playing there so late in the season too, which I think is absolutely fair and should be more of it. I’m guessing they requested that which was great planning on their part.

Pies not making the eight and the bombers/crows have had great seasons? I stopped taking it serious after that.

My AFL September predictions

I’m was thinking that too but their big man replacements are limited to a rookie and possibly the sack. If Reid recovers in the next week or two (unlikely) he would be a good fit. They could just run with a small fwd half.
Finals can’t come quick enough for pies.

Beams, Cox go in for season-ending surgery

Agreed though I would through the kangas in there if they can cause a huge upset and beat the cats this weekend.

Three weeks until finals: Who makes the eight?

A great piece, well written and completing accurate. Well done.

Collingwood's failure is all too familiar

The decision to play apples over shaz was strange. Especially considering apples hadn’t played all year, they had a third game player and it was howe’s first game back after a month or so. Seems like disrespect for opposition to me.
BTW, pies have had horrible injury run for years now.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 19

Lachie Neale. Jordan Roughead as key defender had been solid too. Different role to Neale but almost as important.

Who's been the best AFL recruit this season?

Agreed. It all comes to preparation. The pies had a plan for the eagles and pulled it off in the end, just. The plan for the giants was clearly wrong in the first quarter. They were able to stem the flow after qtr time but not enough to make up. Tigers will surely change it up this time, question is will the pies be prepared for it.

Can Collingwood turn it around tomorrow against the Tigers?

Are the pies a chance? Two weeks ago I thought no, last week I thought they would romp it in. This week who knows…

Can Collingwood turn it around tomorrow against the Tigers?

🙂 trying to fit too much in whilst trying to work. Try this:
Eagles finish top 2 – fav,
Eagles don’t finish top 2 – pies/tigers (whoever wins Friday) and cats favs,
If an interstate team was to make GF, only rate eagles as a chance of winning it.

Five weeks 'til finals: Who are the flag favourites?

If eagles finish top 2 they will be my favourite. If lions finish top 2 they will be my favourite for runner up. If eagles don’t finish top 2 my favourite will be the winner of Friday nights game plus the cats. The only interstate team with form to win at the MCG is the eagles though that could change depending on how the lions perform against the tigers in a couple of weeks.

Five weeks 'til finals: Who are the flag favourites?

Fair call though I meant perceived contenders rather than finalists

Five talking points from AFL Round 18

That’s gold

Five talking points from AFL Round 18

Looks especially bad for the crows seeing they toweled up the suns.

Five talking points from AFL Round 18

I disagree. I’ve been watching the lions of late and the are definitely one of the best two teams at the moment. Two home finals would be huge for them. Finals footy will be different and I expect the usual suspects, pies/eagles/tigers, to be hard to beat.

Five talking points from AFL Round 18

Danger game for crows, tigers, lions and dogs. If they don’t bring A game and their opposition do, they’ll be in trouble. Tough game for eagles especially with Nic Nat and Cripps out, should get it done. Cats and pies to win easy. The rest don’t matter.

The Roar's AFL expert tips and predictions: Round 18

No cats players or Brodie Grundy?

My All Australian side after Round 17

OK, fair call. I would have Steve Walters up there too.
