I’ve heard other call Sydney – “FC” or “the FC” before.

Brisbane Roar set a new standard for A-League

The SPL is in decline without a doubt. It has been for a while now. With that said, both Old Firm teams will still finish a fair way ahead of the A-League’s best. The A-League teams will be in a battle for a top 6 finish (stupid split in the league) and wouldn’t have to many worries about relegation as the bottom teams of the SPL are IMO poorer then the A-League teams. But as I said, the A-League teams will need to have bigger squads as having 20-23 players will be their undoing in a season where teams play 40-50 odd matches per season on some very dodgy fields in not so forgiving weather.

Brisbane Roar set a new standard for A-League

I personally believe the city coat of arms should be the badge. If not that, then something that relates to Brisbane.

As for the colours, unfortunately I think the days of getting blue and gold/yellow are long gone, as far to many teams in the league have those colours/very similar colours (unless Gold Coast folds, and gets merged with Brisbane then the colour scheme could be a go ahead). Even though I’m not a fan of the Oranje, I believe it should stay as there shouldn’t be a complete overhaul of changes. Drop the ‘Roar’ from the name, and bring in a badge that relates to Brisbane should do a world of good.

Brisbane Roar needs new name and image

It has nothing to do with not being English or European sounding for it’s ridiculing – It’s because it it a horrible, embarrassing name. It is a gimmick, a poorly thought out gimmick name at that. It’s hard for people to take it seriously, when it appears that they (board/owners) don’t even take themselves serious.

Yes I do agree with you regarding the referee standards needs a lot of work improving, without a doubt. You won’t see me arguing the opposite.

Where I don’t agree with you (and Melbourne fans who always brings up the Theo incident) is you (not saying you personally) always bring up the Theo incident, but seems to always forget the 2 dodgy calls which brought Melbourne back into the game. Up until those 2 poor calls from the officials, Brisbane was in a very comfortable position. So, if you or anyone else want to keep bring up the Theo incident, by all means do so, but please don’t forget the 2 major ruling in the same game that went against Brisbane.

To try to take anything away from Brisbane’s unbelievable run (I say unbelievable as it has been achieved in a league with a salary cap) is rather disrespectful to the players and coaching staff who has put in so much hard work. Yes they have had some refereeing decisions go in their favor, yet at he same time they have had their fair share go against them.

Real deal Brisbane Roar not unbeatable, say rivals

I really hope they plan on using the SFS and not ANZ to host the final, as it wouldn’t matter if Australia qualified for th final or not – Sydneysiders would be a no show (they always find a reason not to turn up).

Brisbane and Melbourne should have the rights to share the opening and final matches, and should continue to be the case until Sydney proves it deserves such matches.

Anyways, will be a good month of football in 4 years time.

Sydney beats Melbourne for Asian Cup final

I absolutely agree with the article, also a great read (had to laugh at Central Coast “major signing” though).

What I find really pleasing is, Brisbane has pretty much the whole squad re-signed for next season (all bar – Mundy, Visconte, Meyer & Solorzano) along with a few of the players signed for the following season (aka soon to be confirmed ACL season for Brisbane). They also have only 19 players on their books. If Ange re-signs all 3 fringe players (Mundy, Visconte, Meyer) we will have 18 players on the books come the off-season, which allows plenty of room for Ange to improve the squad during the next transfer window (here’s hoping he can either re-sign Solorzano on another loan deal or better yet, a permanent move).

This should see Brisbane build on what they have started (as mentioned, it’s the system that Ange has implmented that is the strong point of Brisbane) this season (and should hopefully still have a very strong set-up come the ACL), which in turn could see some sort of dynasty form, something which has yet to be developed in the A-Leagues short history.

If this happens then the other teams with ambitions will likewise try to dip into the market to improve their chances.
There are good times ahead for fans of t A-League. May the league continue to improve and get stronger with each passing season.

Roar's dominance prompts ambitious transfer activity

Personally it has stuck in the back of my mind, and if the latest about China and 2026 is new news, and not an old news story republish then I am somewhat concern.

If it has been released by the Chinese hours before the vote it could be seen as an attempt to sabotage the rest of the Asian bids, which in turn would benefit the Chinese as it will/could give them a better chance at hosting the WC sooner rather then later.

I for one hope that isn’t the case, but can never be too sure. Just hope the FIFA Executive Committee don’t pay much attention to it.

Whatever the result, kudos to Frank Lowy and co

Very true, the government do need to be thanked also.

If Australia doesn’t win the rights to host the World Cup (which there is a possibility/probability) football in this country will not be sent back to the stone ages. If you want to believe that then that is entirely up to you.

Australia will continue to move forward with or without the World Cup, it’s just a matter of how fast?

As for the FFA better off being using the resources to concentrate on what really mattered, th A-League. There is only one problem for that – It wasn’t the FFAs money, but the government’s.
