Two difficult decisions lie ahead for mediocre Hawthorn
Loots of chatter on here about Clarko getting lucky with boom draft picks early on which is fair enough, but the key to the 3 peat was in fact the traded players, specially Lake, Hale and Burgoyne – which is a model Clarko copied from himself (!) with the Dew recruitment in 2008!
Without those players, the Hawks may not have saluted 4 times under Clarko.
The question is one of balance I guess.

Josh, I think Brad Hill’s ‘go home trade’ was also a key bit of bad luck and timing for the Hawks as well as Roughead’s cancer episode which meant he didn’t return the player he was.
Cattle is an issue but their form is not related to that – wouldn’t be surprised if they bounce back after 3 weeks at the hoodoo Giants Stadium where the club hasn’t won – were travelling well enough up to then.
Oh, and Clarko is going nowhere – thanks for your interest – have a nice day!
