I agree, From the recent interviews with the players about him as a coach, I think they’d be happy with that decision. Not sure about some of the fans though, because he’s a rookie.

Enough with the Ben Hunt innuendo - he isn't going anywhere

Drop Wolfe. Get Timmo onto it!

I heard they’re giving Carr until the end of 24.

Flannigan being his typical self, manipulating in the background. He has had the media working hard on his behalf. Now he has moved onto the team captain. That’s how deceitful people work.
I thought the question posed at the post match conference after Carr had just had a win with the team, in reference to Flannigan and Hunt was inappropriate. The fact that Flannigan made that call, highlights two things about his character. One I’ve touched on. The other is arrogance.

Interesting comments from Bennet?

NRL News: Seibold backs Flanagan for Dragons job but Bennett less sure, Papenhuyzen shoots down swift return chat

Quote from newspaper article regarding Flannigan;
Asked to describe Flannigan’s behaviour during his suspension period, NRL chief executive Todd Greenberg replied;
Disrespectful Fundamental to the rules and integrity of the game that we work in is people being honest and truthful. It cuts to the very core of the fabric of what the game’s rules stand for.”
This saga must in turn put a question mark on any results he had as a head coach.
He was prepared to allow the young men in his care to be given a banned substance to get success, putting them at risk on many levels.
Flannigan has worked at the Dragons previously in two positions. I don’t think he shone in either.
His work at Manly hasn’t exactly been noticeably outstanding either.
Although his media buddies have been working hard on his campaign, I am hoping that the board looks at all the evidence before it decides,

And the same team was campaigning for Hook to be head coach! Say no more!

NRL News: 'A brilliant opportunity' - Cheika, Flanagan put hand up for Dragons gig, Lodge leaving Roosters

A name that was earlier mentioned for a possible head coach for SGI was Shaun Wane from the UK. He’s won 2GF (recent years) with Wigan and is at present coach of England? Could be a good possibility?

Jason Ryles was the perfect fit for Dragons. His rejection shows why they've replaced Tigers as NRL's basket case

Agree Hunt has tried over the last couple of years. But I wonder is that about his passion for the Dragons or his desire to be picked for Origin? He wasn’t as hard working when he first joined the club.

Jason Ryles was the perfect fit for Dragons. His rejection shows why they've replaced Tigers as NRL's basket case

In which century though?

Jason Ryles was the perfect fit for Dragons. His rejection shows why they've replaced Tigers as NRL's basket case

Neither
Flannigan hasn’t been picked up by any other club. Too much baggage. Hasler arrives at a club, destroys. then gets sacked. Hasler similar mentality as Hook in old school approach. The game has changed. He hasn’t. Hook didn’t work. Neither will he.

Jason Ryles was the perfect fit for Dragons. His rejection shows why they've replaced Tigers as NRL's basket case

I would like to thank the media for Ryles not taking the Dragons job. He had a taste of how a Dragons coach is treated by not only the media but also the club’s own fans. Judged and criticised beyond belief before he even took the job. Who would want to do that to themselves or your family. I think he would have been a good fit. But the article discussed on NRL 360 last night is an example of what was ahead. I wish him luck if he is going to Melbourne.

Andrew Johns admitted that he was on hard drugs most of the time he was playing. He is the Hall of fame ! No one seems to be concerned that he is constantly in the media representing the game. He has captained his team, NSW and Australia.

Making de Belin captain of Dragons a sad indictment on a club that doesn't know what true leadership looks like

I’d like to see Amone on the bench and Sullivan start in 6 with Hunt in 7 because I thinkLiddle will be Good 9 for the future. Amone is a future player but not quite there yet. Question mark on Suli. Although he scored a try last week, he made a lot of costly errors. Let’s hope that is rectified this week. Although the media asked ridiculous questions during Carr’s game preview, I thought he had some good responses and actually sounded positive but at the same time that he had an understanding of the issues in front of him. He actually sounded reasonably intelligent,
which was a change from the non impressive, non motivating dribble from Hook. Let’s hope the boys can get a win over the Roosters on Friday night.

Hook is cooked... but it'll mean nothing unless the Dragons change everything

Interesting how Bird is “sticking up for his coach” hours after it was reported his agent has been shopping him around at other clubs. Maybe he isn’t considered a “gun” at as many other clubs as he thought and his little birdbrain outburst has probably not exactly helped that cause. So yeah he definitely now loves Hook as a coach.

Bird brain: Jack says sorry for 'fans don't know much about footy' sledge but horse has already bolted

Then why is Bennett so successful?
Brings out the best in players by being a great mentor.
When confidence is instilled in a person, they’re at there best.
When team spirit is considered paramount, members play for their coach, each other and their fans.

ANALYSIS: Raiders survive, not thrive - and someone put Anthony Griffin out of his misery

Was sorry we missed out on Fitzgibbon

Ben Hunt’s boys: The 2022 St George Illawarra Dragons season review

Before we have success we need to think about Griffin’s time at the club. His game plans do not suit the modern game. He continually ignored the younger players even though the old guys were not having success. He was constantly having problems with team selection. Players that were having great success before he came seemed to lose their confidence and in turn their ability. Sloan and Lomax are examples. Lomax was in the Blues train on squad prior to Griffin damage. Michael Ennis’s comments about Griffins treatment of our young players said it all. Get rid of Griffin now. We need A team of coaches that understands the modern game. Has a connection with the club But been away long enough to have watched the club from afar and understands what we need and where we need to go to have success. Have worked under highly successful coaches and with successful teams recently. Had recent success as assistant coaches. We do not need a coach that has been sacked in the NRL. Ryles (defence) and Hornby (attack) for me, with a third not connected to the club. Bennett has the right idea. Bring an Aussie coach who has had success overseas. New ideas. On player recruitment TOUGH.DECENT, INTELLIGENT FORWARDS WHO DON’T GET BINNED EVERY GAME!

Agree re the Ancient everything with Hook . I’d like to think that Ryles could be SGIs Fitzgibbon. Was a great player. Has a footy brain. Has learnt and developed people skills. Did his time learning coaching skills from great mentors. And then put all of this together and is now well on the way to becoming a successful coach.
Bennett did bring us a premiership. But look at the team he took on. He knew what he was doing. He also took players when he walked away and supported Price as our next coach! But he did help us win a premiership! Agree

NRL News: Griffin on Dragons hot seat, Rapana faces ban, Keary a Rooster booster, Dolphins nab Milford

But he’s been coached by some greats and was assistant to one of the greats in the game and has been a skills coach in U.K. He has had success. He is not past it. Being a former SGI player may be a good thing as he would have a genuine passion for the club. We need that again. He also hasn’t been banned for allowing players to be associated with drugs and he would have a greater understanding of the modern game as apposed to the old has beens on the NRL Coaching Merry go round. If Hook goes all the old cronies he brought from QLD should go with him. Including players. I would also like to add that Matt Head has had several years of success coaching in the lower grade with these young talented guys whom are now coming into first grade. That should be taken into account.

NRL News: Griffin on Dragons hot seat, Rapana faces ban, Keary a Rooster booster, Dolphins nab Milford

It’s to try to avoid another ‘Slice Price” “Oust Doust” scenario from the passionate Dragons fans when the team is in trouble around round 10. What does rhyme with Hook? Concerned that set plays were boring and predictable last year. Is he too old school for today’s game? Maybe new assistant coach will bring some creativity to the team? Hook may be able to build a team. But can he get a premiership with that team ??? And that’s what we want !

What Griffin extension says about Dragons' intentions and why it actually makes sense

That’s the only way we will get rid of him. Coach definitely has him in the Saint George Illawarra Broncos team long term. It doesn’t matter how badly he plays he remains in the team. All we hope is that they don’t sign him after this season. Like many. I don’t get why Clune has never been in the team over the last weeks. Too many has been Queenslanders in the team. They don’t have the passion for the club like our local guys. Letting Cam go was one of many mistakes this year that have led to the heart of the team dying.
When our local young guys play you can see their passion.

McGuire takes big ban as Dragons hit hard by judiciary

Re more Broncos for Dragons. You have to remember Hook only speaks Queenslander. It’s a tribal thing. Communication will be much easier for Coach and team members if they all speak the same language. I’m imagining that’s the reason why we lost a few at the beginning of the season. Apparently their are several members of the team that only speak New South Welshman !1111

Hook, it’s time to move on from signing ex-Broncos

Goodbye Sailor!
If Melbourne is interested in him. I’m thinking he might be a decent player and if he does get a contract there, we will here great things about him in the near future.

For Dragons fans, 2021 can't come soon enough
