5km now until the Corkscrew. Peloton positively flying now, at an average speed of around 48km/h. Omega Pharma-Quick Step and Canondale trying to find their way to the front of the peloton – but Team Sky is more or less having none of it.

17.6km to race and it’s Jens Voigt and Andriy Grivko battling hards – but with less than 20 seconds to race, the peloton are close.

With around 20km to race, there is around 1:05 left to race. Seems an air of inevitability now, with around 10km to race until the Corkscrew.

Surprisingly, Katusha now coming to the front of the peloton with around 24km to go. Pace on the downhill at an average of around 47km/h, up to 70-80 at times. Getting very interesting indeed.

Pace is really beginning to fly with the descent, Voigt on the front trying to drag Grivko and Meyer with him.

Plenty still to race with around 25km to race – but the peloton still has around 1:45 to catch up. Slowly dropping, but they’ve still got to get there.

Starting to get considerably busier at the front of the peloton with riders from Lampre, Lotto Belisol and Cannondale looking to establish themselves, with the big man Andre Greipel currently doing the work for KoM leader Adam Hansen.

31km until the finish, and the three-man breakaway – Grivko, Voigt and Meyer – still battling hard with around 2:10 gap to the peloton. Jens currently doing the work.

Drapac’s Travis Meyer currently doing the work at the front of the peloton with a tick over 50km still to travel, while Europcar’s Jerome Cousin currently dropping back with a team car.

Back at the main group, the peloton is starting to string out as the likes of OGE and Team Sky start to move things along.
