I was at the Rebels game Friday night after being OS for the last 10 years. Would have been 2000-2500 people at the game. It was depressing.

The Wrap: Opening round of SRP a case of the more things change, the more they stay the same

Eddie was not helped by the absolute nonsense that Justin Harrison etc all carried on about Eddie like he was this grand messiah and everyone should be in awe of him. He left Australian rugby in very poor shape at the end of his first run, became spiteful, and lasted a season at the Reds. Second stint lasted under 12 months. Eddie talked like he cared but his actions do not reflect that well.

New chair says Aussie rugby must end 'sugar hit' approach, 'fears' for game's future if reform doesn't occur quickly

Hard to not feel that the old boy rugby network just keeps filling up these roles and nothing effective will actually occur that will result in sustained change or improvement. Rugby really could use some private equity money but also the brain power and know how they provide to properly implement change.

New chair says Aussie rugby must end 'sugar hit' approach, 'fears' for game's future if reform doesn't occur quickly

Wilson is a long way off being a test player.

Comeback kids: 10 players who can explode back into the Wallabies reckoning in 2024

Will
Hope this finds you well sir.
Great to see a BBC lad in the 10. Heaven help us!
I feel like Vunivalu is a total passenger. I would have taken Toole or Pietsch. I think they both offer points of value and difference.
I can see why Quade and Wright missed out. Gives clear control to 10 and 15 now.

WILL GENIA: Why Eddie had to choose between Nic and Quade, moment I felt Hoops was done, hardest done by duo

Vunivalu is a total passenger. I would not waste a spot on a low probability success factor.
Useless is also just that and should not go either.

Wallabies' PREDICTED World Cup squad: Jones faces defining choice as he locks in 33 for France

That was a marked improvement.
I think we have solved our back row and back 3.
I think Tate and Gordon are also the 9/10 that start.
I would like to see Perese given a shot at 13.

Bledisloe heartbreak: Eddie's Wallabies denied by last minute Mo'unga penalty as ABs seal stunning comeback

Much better team on paper.

Useless is on his last legs. Let’s hope he can hit at least one of his throws to the front.

Wallabies CONFIRMED: 10 changes with McReight in for Hoops, Eddie's bench gamble, Rebel's debut and Suli dropped

Vunivalu should be dropped from the squad. He is not a test player right now and there is no time to learn the basics here. He looked lost through large parts of Super Rugby. He absolutely BOMBED it on the international stage. Cut from 33 man squad.
Uelese is useless. Can’t hit the broad side of the barn throwing to front of line out and is lazy around the field. Defies belief he is a professional rugby hooker. Cut from 33 man squad.

Several other players are skating on very thin ice and if the team and certain individuals don’t step up they should be dropped and cut. The weekend was an absolute embarrassment.

'Shows how far off mark we are': The side of Suli you never imagined seeing as Wallabies hope to rid 'demons'

Multiple changes will be made post performance and not being at altitude.
Kerevi comes in. Carter is a potential starter but would like to see Quade and Kerevi together but carter given a solid 30-40 minute shift.
Vunivalu’s days in a Wallaby jersey should be over. He looks totally lost and we don’t have time to educate the basics in a RWC year.
Uelese can’t seem to hit the broad side of the barn when it comes to throwing and he has super gased out and wanting them to slow the game down because he is simply not fit enough at a base level. Hooker is a problem position for Australia.

Wallabies player ratings: Forward pack eaten up, Suli taught a lesson and kicking game badly off

Wilson is simply not a test level player at this stage.
Pros: He runs hard. Fine. Big tick.
Cons: He shoots out of the defensive line far too often.
He goes missing for extended periods of games. Against the Kiwi super teams last year he was non existent. His work rate needs to improve by a substantial quantum.
He should be watching the French 8 as a benchmark to built his game around.

'Watch and learn from me': Five key Aussie battles in 'more important selection games' ahead of RWC

I don’t buy the Dud players. A few are not test level players that he seemed to rate like Tom Banks but the core group are solid.

I do agree with skill level, especially under pressure.

Rennie seems like a great guy and had good culture. Coaching was not great. As a selector, (which is critical) very poor. Banks and Campbell are solid S level players. Woeful at International. Noah in and out all the time which meant he was not ready.

'You know that he's a good coach': All Blacks legend Carter backs axed Wallabies coach for Test return

With all of the smoke being blown up Eddie’s clacker you would think he was the second coming.

Go and ask the Reds team from ’07 about being absolutely berated by him to the point many wanted to quit. Some truly shocking locker room moments occurred.

Let us also not neglect the fact that our set piece was abysmal under him for long periods of time.

Coaches, like everyone, evolve over time so it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. I am excited for his return across many facets like work-ethic and his edge but the caveat is be careful about the devil you know.

WILL GENIA: I was disappointed by Rennie sacking but Eddie's a winner - this is why he's the right choice

Commentators – also making the game almost unwatchable.

This is the D team of commentating.

We should not have Kiwi’s commentating for Australian games at all and the lead commentators pronunciation is cringe worthy.

WILL GENIA: 'Killing the game' - why I can't watch live rugby, surprising Pete Samu trait, backing Dave for RWC

Will is totally entitled to his views but reality tells us we are not building at all and simply treading water ans going backwards in the rankings.
We have ZERO chance at the RWC. We are unable to string together 2 games in a row.
Discipline, lack of cohesive defence and attack and inability to effectively exit our 22 do not win game nor tournaments.

This team is an utter shambles.

WILL GENIA: 'Killing the game' - why I can't watch live rugby, surprising Pete Samu trait, backing Dave for RWC

Wallabies are an absolute shambles.

TRAIN LIKE TARZAN. PLAY LIKE JANE.

Our discipline is non existent.
Our defence crumbles the second it is under pressure (29 missed tackles).
Players make poor decisions and lack skills to execute. Petaia is a joke at test level right now.
Can’t exit our 22 effectively.
Set piece is shaky.
Attack is blunt.

Wallaby team is making history – ranked 10th now. Well done cream puffs.

NZ vs Aus studs and duds: 'Stop deflecting and ask why you're heading for worst record in Wallaby history'

We can’t win back to back games. We might fire one shot if we get that far but that will be it.
We are ranked 10th in the world and we are simply that bad.

REACTION: Rennie and Wallabies 'crumble' in Auckland again as All Blacks put on a 'masterclass'

Aside from Samu, every player is a 2/10.

The team is 3rd rate and heading in the wrong direction fast.

Our chances at RWC are ZERO. Need consistency to win tournaments.

Lack game management and structure in attack and defense.
Our defence is woeful, we struggle to exit our 22 and players lack skills under pressure. Further to this our discipline is absolutely ATROCIOUS.

What being ranked 10th in the world feels like.

REACTION: Rennie and Wallabies 'crumble' in Auckland again as All Blacks put on a 'masterclass'

Not even close. Wilson is a very average player and absolutely not a test level player at this stage.
Goes missing in games a lot. Poor work rate at breakdown, rushes out of defensive line and has poor close contact engagement.
He runs decent lines but out best 6-8 was last weekends unit.

WALLABIES TEAM: Trio return for first TRC action, Philip missing and Tupou still sidelined

Swain was yellow carded.

Tom Wright should not have been sent off though. That was a bad call.

Pass looked forward from the few angles. Neither touch judge nor ref decided to challenge or check.

Bravo, Mathieu: Why Bledisloe ref made the right call for the sake of the game. Others must follow his lead

You are cherry picking to suit your narrative.
The ref should apply consistency.
The lifting tackle should have been a yellow and NZ wasted time themselves on several occasions as did NZ. The game is much more static now.
Further to the final call, you simply stop the clock and call time back on.

Bravo, Mathieu: Why Bledisloe ref made the right call for the sake of the game. Others must follow his lead

And you made zero mention of NZ and their time wasting.
You might need to get your vision checked, you appear a tad one eyed.

Bravo, Mathieu: Why Bledisloe ref made the right call for the sake of the game. Others must follow his lead

Could not disagree more.
He had an atrocious game with the whistle and on multiple instances the All Blacks wasted far more time.

Bravo, Mathieu: Why Bledisloe ref made the right call for the sake of the game. Others must follow his lead

Vunivalu looks lost on a rugby field. Watch his super rugby games and he had entire games with zero impact.
I was shocked he was brought into the squad at all and would have been better served playing for Australia A to get a lot more game time in ans understand the systems and how the game plays.

Beale is a spent force and not the same player he once was.

Our chances of winning the Bledisloe and RWC are at about 5% and that is being very generous.

Can someone, anyone, explain Dave Rennie's selections?

The Wobblies are shockingly inconsistent. So much so that a structural change to their contracts to reward actual performance is what is now required. See how they perform when money is the real prize.

Last weekends game was utterly embarrassing at almost every facet of the game. I am surprised they all managed to tie their boot laces up.
I expect we will get properly belted in Melbourne.

The Thursday Two-up: The Rugby Championship is getting ridiculous and we want to know why
