Excellent reminder in all forums and sorry I seemed to kill the comment section with my post.

It's OK to be the most important of the least important things

Sorry for the late reply and I know that was not your suggestion and I’m glad I put that in my previous comment. It’s a tough time for all and I appreciate your article absolutely. Keep writing!

It's OK to be the most important of the least important things

Stay home and wash your hands will work for two weeks, maybe four. But by then we have two million people on centrelink (if they can access it) many of them unable to feed themselves, and eventual economic and societal collapse. This is not a sustainable progression. I don’t have any answers and I can’t pretend to know right now what’s right but I do know that you can’t isolate and impoverish people for a lengthy period of time and not have something give. I’m one of the lucky ones that for time being has a job and enough in the offset to live for a bit. I know many don’t have that luxury. My second biggest worry is corona virus affecting my loved ones, my biggest is the inevitable future rising rate of suicides, domestic violence, crime, hopelessness and despair that will come from lengthy isolation and jobless periods. Sometimes life going on in some aspects of a normal format is indeed a great distractor, and I don’t begrudge the AFL for trying to do so. It’s not as simple as ‘take the masks off the footy teams and the chances are better that everyone will be okay and we’ll be back to normal in no time’. And I know that’s not what you are saying. I will keep my future posts about footy but there is a horrendously and sadly tragic much bigger picture here than staying home and washing your hands so your elderly relatives might see another flag. Otherwise I totally agree that we should be kind to each other.

Don’t get your hopes up about Brand. Might be nearly 2m tall but plays like he weighs 60kg. Pushed off easily by a strong forward and can’t kick effectively even when he manages to pick up the ball. I’d love to see him do well but there are many reasons Clarko didn’t want him anymore.

Beware the sleeping Swans

I would have suspended him after that 2015 hit on Taylor Duryea. But having said that was definitely the best standout player of the year and won that brownlow.

AFL captains predict grand final teams, Brownlow and Coleman medals

Cripps won’t be in enough winning games to win. I don’t think he’ll do a 2013 Ablett. Also probably Carlton won’t even win 8 games.

I agree that’s one of the biggest miscalls here. Freo will win more than triple that but probably no finals beckon. Also Melbourne will win far less than 17 and Carlton a lot less than 11. Switch Melbourne and Pies and Carlton and Freo and I’m almost on board.

AFL predictions for 2020

Love your articles Josh and interesting to pick finalists from 2-0 after only two preseasons in current format. Mad, but I realise that’s half the fun of the article. I’m one of those that says hang the pre season results, it’s a chance for coaches to try one or two odd ball positions and let the team have a lazy runout (no injuries please). No chance GWS, Melbourne, St Kilda and Essendon make the finals. GWS only from me.

AFL preseason trends predict a top-eight shake-up

Great read on the Hawks. Hardwick a massive loss if he misses first half of the season. Wingard I personally don’t have any question mark over (maybe optimistic), I think he’ll be great this year. Puopolo is sadly just wasting a space in the team. Maybe four disposals and three tackles a game. Surprised Clarkson has kept him in.

AFL preview series: Geelong Cats vs Hawthorn Hawks

I too rate Grundy extremely highly but unless there is a directive from the AFL to direct votes away from most possessions (ie. midfielders who may spend a little time in the forward line and snag a goal or two) it will go to Fyfe, Martin etc. Shame really but that’s what it is. Happy to eat my words if Grundy gets up.

Who’s contending for the Brownlow in 2020?

Pittonet as a pickup won’t be terrible. Probably be better than Kreuzer in fact.

Essendon 2020 preview: The Bombers won't be flying upwards in 2020

I just can’t see them making the 8. Tigers, West Coast, Pies, GWS, Brisbane, Geelong, Bulldogs, Hawthorn. Who do you drop from that? (anti hawks fans will definitely saw hawks of course). But if Essendon do pull off a miracle and finish 8th they’ll play an away final and get smashed as per usual. Unfortunately I think they don’t have a hope.

Why the Bombers should win a final in 2020
