Possesses general knowledge about general topics around rugby, generally. Frequently wrong, but like a dog with a bone, which others can find annoying at times. Sorry about that.

Our current problem is not a lack of potential champions, it’s the development of their finer skills that true test champions possess, and that falls on our coaching development, or lack of it. We now have plenty of attacking potential, which is more than I can say we had up until about 5-6 years ago. But a team of players that has the ability to make good, winning decisions throughout a game is what makes them champions. Personally, I’m so tired of hype and excitement that is hamstrung by poor team cohesion and test match smarts. Some reality checks and honest reflection from RA would get me far more excited about a successful and sustainable future.

Enough of realistic expectations, let's get excited about future Wallabies

Loved watching the game. I can’t help but wonder if the Rebels good fortunes (at least in part), is the result of their dire straights. Playing like they have nothing to lose, because they quite literally don’t. This has been a feature of Australian rugby for about 20 years. I look forward to the day when Australian rugby teams Will again start applying themselves to their full potential whenever they run out on the field, instead of waiting until they are backed into a corner before showing us what they can actually do. It’s about taking real pride in your work and being fearless in battle, and it’s amazing what can unfold when teams decide to just do it.

'Kid wonder': Lancaster, Gordon shine as Rebels take one giant step in locking in maiden Super Rugby finals berth

A fun game to watch, nice offloads but Tahs defence got found wanting on the fringes way too much.

'Last few years have been hell': Iceman 2.0 Harrison gets 'dream come true' in Tahs' stunning golden point win

You could be right Peter. Our attacking breakdown issues have been so obvious for so long, I am dumbfounded that so little has been done about it. Maybe it was the coaches focussing on the wrong areas. Cheika just had our forwards charging in helter skelter without any signs of timing or technique. We literally showed stuff all interest in getting our hands dirty under Rennie. I still remember the ball being kicked to within 5 metres of the AB try line. The AB’s had to turn, run back, regroup for a defensive ruck, with no one available to cover the blind side. All we had to do was charge through, use momentum to push over the ball and score. What happened? We gave a half hearted chase, committed 2 forwards to the ruck ( with one going in too high), with the rest lining up for a glorious carry. The AB’s ran back, regrouped perfectly in a low formation, and pushed us off the ball. I doubt I’ve ever sworn so much. It was pathetic.

'Brutal and violent': The two aspects Reds workhorse wants to fix to take next step towards Wallabies

“If there were more players in Australian rugby with Smith’s attitude around the breakdown, the Wallabies would have scored dozens of more tries and secured several more wins in recent years”. ”Indeed, no area on the field has given the Wallabies more headaches since the 2015 World Cup than the attacking breakdown”. Now ain’t that the truth 👍

'Brutal and violent': The two aspects Reds workhorse wants to fix to take next step towards Wallabies

No no and no.

Rooster must remodel: Angus Crichton says he'd want to 'dominate' in rugby union - this is what he'd have to change

Cheika could be the man for the Tahs. Just don’t put him in charge of the green and gold camp. The Wallabies don’t need a Cheika style rev up and more post match interview embarrassment. He himself exhibits the exact opposite of what he demands of his players; “no excuses”.

Five things we learnt: Why Cheika could be the man to resurrect Tahs, Thor is the new Quade, value of sevens

It’s symptomatic of rugby’s position in Australia unfortunately. RA are desperate and not yet self sustaining in terms of elite level player and coaching development. Causes short term thinking and reactionary responses.

Wonder kid offered 3-yr, $1.6m deal to stay in Aussie rugby - and why it could see Wallabies stars leave Ballymore

It’s surely of no surprise.
Top coaches demand top $, and can get it overseas.
Why come over here for less money and more work, trying to turn half baked rugby players into competitive professional players.
The abandonment of our own coaching development program is what set us up to fail. Presumably, the powers at be thought stuff that, we’ll cut the program, save some money, and just import our top coaches. Leaving us with diddly squat….

Set up to fail: The gaping hole in Aussie Super Rugby coaching CVs - with one clear exception

It can be. Employers can take employees to court for money lost due to breach of contract.
If not Jones, then someone’s head and wallet should roll.

'Everything was approved': Eddie hits back at $2.6m RWC budget blow-out, says Wallabies can build team around young gun

How does Waugh say it was an unapproved blow out, then not sue Jones?

Well of course it was approved.
Eddie would be in court if it wasn’t.

“He’s come in extremely aggressively, that’s not a normal tackle”. 😂 😂 WTF???

'What you permit, you promote': Reds slam late 'cheap shot', HMP set to start ahead of Lynagh in Rebels grudge match

RA have been on the back foot for a very long time. It’s not unusual to make ridiculous decisions when you feel your back is to the wall.
Let’s hope they have taken “learnings” from it, as the latest saying goes 😂

Waugh reveals shocking $2.6 million unapproved budget blowout on Eddie Jones' World Cup debacle

The best part of this win last night, is that if Reece hadn’t stayed down to try and milk a penalty from what he thought was a late hit from Mark N, Gordon would have had no gap to run through for his brilliant try.

Messi, Messi, Messi

Can the debate over who's better between Messi and Ronaldo ACTUALLY be settled?

“Bollocks to doom and gloom”?? Hello reality.

Hurricanes pump Western Force as Achilles heel exposed again in early reality check

So can reality, as it has shown over the past 15 years. The technical requirements to perform at the full time professional level, have surpassed that of good old Aussie grit I’m afraid. And even that historical quality of Aussie rugby players is fading away.

Bollocks to the doom merchants - Super Rugby 2024 offers Australian rugby its most glorious opportunity

“That is what lies before every Australian Super Rugby team as the season begins: an opportunity to spit in the face of doubt, to obliterate expectations and to make the world cast a bewildered eye upon Australia as it gasps in astonishment, “Where the bloody hell did THAT come from?” There will be the one off’s I am sure, but there are very few if any tangible reasons to think we Australians can pluck up a miracle year from the hell we are in right now. 30 years ago in the amateur era? For sure. But the passion and pride and Aussie ingenuity and tenacity of heart has been watered down too much I’m afraid, along with the technical requirements of the modern game advancing without us. We are about 10 years behind.

Bollocks to the doom merchants - Super Rugby 2024 offers Australian rugby its most glorious opportunity

Bollocks to the doom and gloom? I’m afraid I have read enough stories of the resurrection of Australian rugby over the years, positive comments from players etc, each without real substance to support such optimistic outcomes, and they always failed to deliver. From the heading, I sensed this story would be no different, and unfortunately, I was right.

I think the path is clear in Waughs mind. 5 teams becomes 4.

'I want to be a Wallaby great': The World Cup heartache driving one of Eddie's bolters forward

”We’ll get beaten by the Kiwis in July and August and everyone will go, ‘Oh well, that was a dud!,’ we’ll sack him (Joe Schmidt) and we’ll be back in the same position again.” Pretty much the dumbest comment I’ve read on the Roar in a fair while. Where’d he get his crystal ball from, Kmart?

'We'll sack him and be in the same position': Ex-Wallaby condemns Larkham snub as Schmidt deal CONFIRMED

“Robbie Deans was appointed as the Wallaby coach about ten years ago then Dave Rennie only about five years ago and was sacked for Eddie Jones. So, we’ve had two Kiwis, and both times it’s ended in tears” What’s this absolute rubbish all about Greg?? I think Deans was our longest serving Wallaby coach right? You want to talk about ending in tears!! Let’s look at Jones (version 1), Link, Cheika, Jones (version 2). It’s not a kiwi thing you joker. What a dope.
