If she believes that the LGBTQ lifestyle is wrong or a sin how can you expect her to participate in a round that promotes or supports that lifestyle. Not saying I agree with her but I do understand her stance.

The big difference is that the AFL doesn’t promote a white supremacist round with a specific white supremacist Guernsey.

You state that her gesture is saying that her religion discriminates against LGBTQ people.
My question to you then is isn’t her religion or any religion entitled to believe that the LGBTQ lifestyle is wrong or a sin and hence that it would be morally wrong to participate in a round promoting that lifestyle.
I can understand why some people get offended or upset with Zreika’s stance. However that doesn’t they are right. Just a question of beliefs and Muslim beliefs are ever bit as a legitimate as yours and mine.

Seems to be a modern notion that we aren’t allowed to offend anyone. I am all for love, kindness and respect but that doesn’t mean anyone should have to deny or change their beliefs in case they offend someone. Unfortunately those that are often offended don’t realise that their beliefs and actions are often just as offensive to those they oppose.

Whole notion of a Pride Round is BS in my opinion. It is essentially promotion of the LGBIT cause.
I don’t care if someone is gay or lesbian but I am sick of sporting clubs promoting causes. Support for things like a MND cure or the Pink Test totally different as they are not moral issues. I can’t imagine that there would be a single person opposed to those causes.
My own club the Swans is one of the worst with their vote yes for Same Sex marriage campaign. I have no objection to individuals voting yes but don’t believe it is the role of sporting organisations to be involved. It is not their area of expertise. Very much a personal decision I would have thought. No definitive right or wrong. Just a question of one’s beliefs.

I agree that a Christian would have have copped more flak but I believe she is not entitled to be opposed to the Pride Game and to choose not to participate.
She is not promoting division any more than those who promote the Pride Round.

Liam – I hated the preparation that Port had going into the p/f. Easy win in week 1 then 2 weeks to be overconfident or complacent. Reminded me very much of my Swans in the 2014 g/f. Thrashed North in the p/f by 71 points then put in an unbelievable insipid performance against Hawks in the g/f – a Hawks team that scraped in by 3 points over Port. I think there is a lot to be said for a tough preparation and underdog status. Players can’t help but subconsciously pick up the complacent vibe around them.
I can’t be critical of Port last year – thought they were terrific in last year’s p/f against very powerful Richmond team.
Richmond in my opinion were also brought down by overconfidence when they lost by 41 to Collingwood in 2018 p/f.
Having said all that I don’t know what to make of Port and Hinkley. As a Sydneysider who rarely gets to see them I felt they were a bit flakey and inconsistent.

P.S See if you can arrange for Port to send pick 16 and Hayes to Sydney in exchange for Dawson presuming Hayes is any good. Maybe a future pick and Butters or Rozee as well.

Sorry Port, the jig is up

What a fool I am. I had hoped that a Collingwood victory under difficult circumstances and without Grundy, Howe and Adams might have cheered Les up. Or that the promising form of Poulter and Bianco and the more attacking mindset might have done the trick. But alas NO.
Obviously wishful thinking on my behaviour. Some people perversely seem happiest when focusing on the negative and rehashing the past.

A revolt ten black and white years in the making

Presumably another boring cut and paste negative rehash by Les.
Les where you a history teacher as you certainly like revisiting the past.

A revolt ten black and white years in the making

PTS. Spot on.

I can only assume that Les never makes any mistakes or says the wrong thing and if he does he doesn’t mind be constantly reminded of it.
Must be a delight watching the footy with Les.

Political uncertainty and a lack of vision at Collingwood

Thepiewoman. I think Les has previously made some valid points but you can’t accept change to happen so quickly. Eddie’s and Ned Guy are gone, Wright and Scott Selwood have come in and Buckley likely gone by seasons end. It was only 2 and 3 seasons ago you were in a gf and pf.

Political uncertainty and a lack of vision at Collingwood

Agree 100% Tom. Well said.

Political uncertainty and a lack of vision at Collingwood

I wouldn’t put a ban on Les but I would be happy if ROAR limited him to 12 articles a year on the same topic. I have stopped reading his articles but assume this one is another rehash of his last 10 articles without allowing sufficient time for change to take place.

Political uncertainty and a lack of vision at Collingwood

Never suggested he doesn’t have to share the blame but to state “that he fundamentally failed the football club” is over the top. He made a mistake like every coach that has ever existed.

The case against reappointing Nathan Buckley

Pete. What I find with Les is that he makes some valid points and some incorrect ones but never bothers to respond when his false statements are pointed out. Rather he just waits another week and rehashes the same old issues selectively choosing his “facts”.
I don’t think anyone has suggested that Collingwood hasn’t made mistakes, some significant, but you would think that they were cellar dwellers for the past 20 years and that no other clubs made mistakes the way some people act. Just imagine the Plus seemingly no acknowledgement of the positive steps taken – do better report, getting rid of Eddie, hiring of Wright and Selwood.

The case against reappointing Nathan Buckley

“He has fundamentally failed the footy club” What absolute rubbish and I am neither a Collingwood supporter or opposed to the Pies getting a new coach. He must be doing something right as throughout his tenure the players effort has rarely been questioned.

The case against reappointing Nathan Buckley

Ridiculous to link Buckley’s 10 years as coach to last year’s fire sale.

The case against reappointing Nathan Buckley

I don’t know how one person can devote so much time and energy to a single topic. A disproportionate amount of time and energy. Needs some other things in his life.

The case against reappointing Nathan Buckley

Couldn’t agree more PTS.
Les’s CONSTANT MONOTOUS negativity is painful and being a long time passionate supporter doesn’t justify his relentless bagging of the club. And I say this as a Swans supporter.

An open letter to Eddie McGuire

If Les keeps rehashing the same issues with boring regularity then I am entitled to my comment. You would think he could at least give a reasonable amount of time for change to happen. They were in a gf and pf very recently and have got rid of Eddie and commissioned the ‘do better report’

An open letter to Eddie McGuire

Agree 100%.
You would think Collingwood hadn’t made the 8 for 20 years the way Les bangs on. Can’t imagine what he would be like if he supported North, Freo, Carlton, St.kilda, Adelaide, Essendon or Melbourne the past 20 years.
Les give it a break please. If nothing has improved in 12 months then continue your relentless negativity.

An open letter to Eddie McGuire

Sorry Les that everybody else doesn’t share your obsession with Collingwood. I have only been on Roar about 8 months but must have come across 10 very similar articles by you.
Most of us football followers and media don’t care how Collingwood got into the state they are in.
As for comparing Stephenson to Walsh give us a break.
And I highly doubt that Aish, Blair and Murray in particular would have been on middling contracts as you stated.
Collingwood stuffed up their salary cap. We all know that.
Eddie is gone which is good. Now look forward to the development of some of your young players and the acquisition of Nick Daicos and possibly a free as agent. You can rehash past mistakes as many times as you like but that won’t change it.
You also seem to conveniently ignore how heavily hit by injuries Collingwood were for about 3 or 4 consecutive years. Probably cost you a premiership.

Collingwood's salary cap mystery

Considering that McCartin hits him just a few seconds after the video starts and in the opening minutes of the match very hard to blame the Aaron Black or the umpires for excessive niggle.

Paddy McCartin under investigation for ugly incident in the VFL

Collingwood need a spill!

Great article Les. Agree 100%
