I remember watching Gregor Townsend playing at fly half. My friends and I used to call him “Gregor the butcher” because of his ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory when playing for Scotland.
Admittedly he seems a better coach than he was a player but he is still only a shadow of Vern Cotter.

Ireland vs New Zealand: Betting against the greenback

I’m sure you’ll be a massive loss.

Wales withstand Wallabies' second-half fightback

Do you just watch the game to whinge about it? Isn’t that why we have Phil Kerns? 😛

Wales withstand Wallabies' second-half fightback

If what you say is true, you must have made a fortune at the last World Cup and will make another at this current World Cup.
In fact, you should be grateful for the fact that betting regularly on rugby means that you don’t have to work and hence are able to write so many articles about the game, unlike the rest of us who have to go back to work to pay their bills on Monday.

Too many players, too complex and not enough stars of the Lomu variety

Scott Robertson
The only man to have won a hat trick of Super Rugby titles as both a player and coach. He just led the Crusaders to a three-peat.

If you read the article, that’s already been covered.

Which Kiwi will RA choose to lead the Wallabies?

He was charged and pleaded guilty.
The judge discharged him without conviction because if the conviction had been recorded most countries wouldn’t have granted him a travel visa and hence he wouldn’t be able to play super and international rugby.
It is one of the idiosyncrasies in the New Zealand justice system that promising rugby players can get away with both domestic violence and assault convictions while the average Joe Bloggs can’t.

Talking points from the All Blacks squad announcement

I’m pretty sure that the NZRFU (All Blacks) adhere to similar principles as RA does. If you want to find rugby organisations and teams that support the views espoused by Israel you should probably be backing the Samoans, Tongans or Fijians.

Folau fired: Rugby Australia axe Israel

Thank you for pointing out the chip kick that Folau slowed down for, I thought I was the only one who thought that.

England hammer Wallabies: Six talking points

You sound like one of these people who thinks they should get to pick and choose which rules apply to them.
Rules are rules. If you don’t like them then quit and go and work somewhere else but don’t whinge about it when you break the rules and are punished for it.

Beale and Ashley-Cooper stood down after breaching team protocol

Serial offenders because he got done five years ago, hasn’t been on the team for five years and then within a few weeks of coming back breaks the rules.
If you can’t see that you’re probably a serial apologist 🙂

Beale and Ashley-Cooper stood down after breaching team protocol

Maybe not a tea party but maybe teabagging?

Pocock passed fit for England showdown

Presumably he hasn’t shown enough “heart and courage” in the last game and in training to warrant selection?
Cheika has stated that demonstrating “heart and courage” is what he is looking for in this game so presumably Beale will not be inspired enough by the indigenous jersey to demonstrate greater “heart and courage” in this game.

Pocock passed fit for England showdown

Cheika says that he is looking for “heart and courage” rather than results so perhaps Latu has been showing Cheika this in training and this is more important than his ability to throw straight into a lineout and/or not give away stupid penalties.
That’s the only logical explanation.
Although… Trying to use logic to explain Cheika’s selections is probably a lost cause may be the tarot cards told him to go with the selection.

Pocock passed fit for England showdown

It certainly can’t be because he has been making any disparaging remarks about a female.

Just a jersey or a reason for Wallabies hope at Twickenham?

If Cheika actually cared about the welfare of David Pocock he wouldn’t have selected for this game. In my view it shows a lack of courage and just demonstrates that all he is interested in is saving his own skin.

Pocock to play, Beale excluded from Wallabies lineup

So the implication is that it is not too late to parachute someone else into the job and get decent results at the World Cup?

Quade Cooper joins Melbourne Rebels on one-year deal

So true.

Israel Folau edging closer to confirming his rugby future as Wallabies veteran eyes RWC comeback

I find it difficult to believe that Cheika can “speak fluent French, Italian, and Arabic” (as David Lord asserts) when (based on all the interviews and team talks I’ve seen from him) he doesn’t even seem to be able to speak fluent English.
I have regularly spoken to large groups of people and admittedly it is harder than a one-on-one conversation but that is no excuse for how poorly Cheika speaks in all his interviews and press sessions.
I suspect that he only speaks pidgin French, Italian and Arabic just as he speaks a backstreet version of English.
I also suspect that he isn’t “a deep thinker” as numerous people have professed. He comes across as one of those people who it’s so insistent that he is correct that other people assume he knows something they don’t.

Why is Michael Cheika playing Russian roulette with his career?

Nice.

Foley recalled for crunch Argentina Test

As a Kiwi, I think Folau is a joke at fullback. Aside from his ability under the highball most of the other fullbacks are better than him.
Out on the wing he has all the time and space to chase up and unders like all the other international wings do e.g. Korobete, Naholo, Ioane, Dyantyi. Yet so often he is missing in action.
Just my opinion-whenever I’ve watched him play fullback against the AB’s I’ve always felt that they should kick to the corners as he has absolutely no kicking game and so is in trouble when shown the sideline.

It's time for Rugby Australia to stop the slide

Deja vu?

Although you might be rong about people wrighting them off.

Jones denies England job is on the line

It’s too late to (sand)paper over the cracks.

Genia: Wallabies need to clean up their act

From what I saw of the Reds versus the Waratahs, it wasn’t that comprehensive a win by the Waratahs.
Foley had his kicking boots on that night and the Reds kickers couldn’t hit the side of the barn from 2m. If the Reds kickers had put away all the points on offer the game would have been all tied up.
