The fixture lists seems like it was done by a bunch of monkeys on acid the night before the season launch.
Also I reckon the folk that usually work on the A-league pitches take the summer off and leave the 16 year old work experience kid to do all the work. They leave him with one simple instruction: “yeah don’t worry about it, have a good summer”
That is the only rational explanation I can think of.
The A-League fixture list is a confusing joke
Give the game back to the people. Fox got the best TV deal in Australian television history. Who signs a TV deal for 7 years? Fox benefited from the Socceroos games not being on the anti-siphoning list because the Howard govt deemed football was not a significant part of Australian culture. It was the wogs, sheila’s, poofters mentality that JW talked about.
Unless you work at Fox I don’t see why people have this point of view. You must really like getting that that emotional monthly high from maxing out your credit card.
Without Fox, there would be no A-League
Hey Fussball, he does send it to people at the FFA. All the relevant folk get it. So there is no excuse that they don’t know who is playing where.
It’s also sent to the football media as well.
That is 10-11 extra teams we could have.
What have we learned from the Ersan Gulum saga?
ahhh the duality of international football.
Check out the list of Aussies Abroad compiled by Damian Davies. It contains heaps of young Aussies that are ready to be ignored by Aussie coaches and improved by foreign ones.

damn you modern generation…………….
Is the A-League service satisfying the fans?
You know what? his idea doesn’t sound so crazy. I have been critical of the NSL clubs wanting to get into the A League. The FFA royally effed up after not including Canberra. If this competition works then it could be the seed for the creation of a B League. And if the ethnic clubs can behave themselves by leaving the boring and irrelevant ethnic divisions with their grandparents and their worry beads it could be something for Double FA to think about.
Canberra, Tasmania, your time is now
Agree that Tony analysis is one of the best out there.
The football media is far from perfect but nothing harms the A-league or Football in Australia like the infighting that happens between all the stakeholders. Where is the fun people? .Angry angry faces everywhere.
Speaking of football media Half Time Heroes One Year anniversary edition online now: I wonder all those people that are complaining about lack of football media have heard about it.

Media not to blame for A-League's struggles
I disrespect the past as well and so it should be.
The Past:
13 years ago I went to see Sydney Olympic play at the SFS. There may have been around seven thousand people at the game. The crowd were mainly Greeks and were seated on one side of the stadium and the Olympic administrators used crowd affects played through the PA. (so they could make it feel like a proper football match I imagine) A 15 year old by the name of Nicky Carle came on as a sub and scored a volley from outside the box to win the game.
The Present:
Yesterday I went to the SFS to watch Sydney FC take on Melbourne Victory. There was almost 13, 000 at the game and the crowd made of people from different cultural backgrounds all of us Australians were chanting and cheering all game. Nicky Carle showed why he one of the most talented footballers ever produced and Shannon Cole came on as sub and tied the game with a free kick. The final score was 3-3.
You can have the past, I’ll have the present and future.
FFA disrespects football's past
Hey Tony,
Great article mate. I was in the Cove for the first game and that tix cost me $45
Also who plays a game at 12:45 like they did with the fist game? What about the state of the pitch as well.
One day; my Greek hairy arse!
.
Mixed report-card for Sydney's football fiesta
Hey Tony,
Great article mate.
I was at the game and was very impressed with AEK.
Also I thought Nathan Burns was impressive. He should have been at the World Cup. He looks like he is improving. Unlike other youngsters ho have gone Overseas you can see that he is developing
Also why play at 12:45 pm?.
.
All class: AEK dish up a performance to remember
was that a pig flying outside my window?
nope it was just a distant memory……….
Imagine Sydney Olympic in A-League
Hey jupiter53,
I agree Germany’s “2” can shoot and pass, it’s the annoying 2 that are just there to break up play and that annoy me
Lessons to forget from this World Cup
If I was the AFL I would be doing everything in it’s power to stop the vuvuzela’s from coming to Australia in 2022. I’d even get award winning journalist to copy and past old information so I can spread faux outrage.
The scandal in Australia's World Cup bid is in the detail
Great piece Davidde. But I wonder how much scrutiny is given to how much cashiola the AFL, NRL and even the Olympic sports are given by the government
On May the 19th 2010 this was announced :
The NSW Government will hand over $45 million to the NRL to keep our prized event where it belongs – at ANZ Stadium in Sydney Olympic Park.
http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/sydney-to-keep-leagues-big-one/story-e6frexnr-1225868407446
The journo who wrote the story even said this:
“It’s money in the bank for virtually doing nothing.. ”
I didn’t see front page articles about tax payers funds going to the NRL for no good reason when that was announced.
Some Melbourne based media it seems will say and do anything to stop the World Cup from coming to Australia.

If Andrew Johns is a regular Aussie bloke I’d love to see what kind of person you call a bigoted racist. Must be a high bar set.
Cut Johns some slack for being a typical Aussie bloke
I love that Vuvuzela song
hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonk, houuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunk
It’s just that’s it’s a different WC experience . You can’t hear the singing or the chants or the drums or who the crowd is cheering for.
I did African studies at school( made this up) and have seen Invictus and don’t remember reading or seeing any vuvuzala’s Plus they are mass produced plastic. Not very environmental friendly. Us Australians pride ourselves on being greener than other countries it’s our most favourite sport next to football. So is going to other countries and whining about the locals customs.
An open letter from a South African
Go Fozzie!!!
I loved the image of ex Socceroo captains walking in a room and looking at the team sheet and saying what is this shit?

“An Islamic World Cup in hot climate with little alcohol and modest dress codes for women. Surely that would send the message that soccer truly is a world game that transcends all.”
