GLAD to see the back of Mr. Van Der Pol. Unaccountable, distant from the supporter base, our alleged links to Chinese club Qingdao Reds was nothing more than an empty publicity stunt. There was no transparency and it’s doubtful that Van Der Pol even set foot in this city more than a couple of times. Was he based in China? Netherlands? Who knows & good riddance. Let’s see what the Pelligra Group can bring to Adelaide United and the city of Adelaide. By all means, continue to promote local SA juniors, especially those of African heritage. They are changing the face of SA soccer – just go to any local club game on a Saturday & you will see this new wave. BUT also, top up our talent base with the occasional genuine overseas talent – something that the Van Der Pol consortium was reluctant to do.
