Sydney Roosters vs Canterbury highlights: NRL Finals scores, result

I don’t support either team and in fact probably dislike the Bulldogs more than the Roosters but the amount of rubbish that the Roosters get away with every game is exactly what is wrong with the NRL. The referees have too much influence on this game and it can be pretty much said that they decide who they want to win.
If the referees were serious the roosters (along with the Storm) would be penalised 30 times a match. These teams set the standard at the start of the match by pushing the boundaries and giving away penalties. The referees then feel the need to stop giving away too many penalties and thus put the whistle away and let teams such as the roosters and the storm to continuously wrestle, and do ANYTHING they can to slow the play the ball.
I have loved this game for over 20 years now and it is now beyond a joke.

I am probably a bit biased about this as i am a Newcastle fan (Its an EXTREMELY HARD JOB!) but i think you are a little harsh on them. No-Hopers?? Any team that can beat the Storm in Melbourne are far from No-Hopers. For the past, i would say 5 years, i have had huge hopes for the team thinking they were prime and ready for a big season but every year (except that one year making the prelims) they have disappointed. They have tried and tried with an older roster and failed BUT we finally have good young players coming through but to that in a second.
We have signed Trent Hodkinson, and yes he is a little overrated, but he is the EXACT player that Newcastle has been screaming out for. We have had a lot of class and talent in the halves that can play a match winning game on their day yet have never had that ability of consistency that Hodko can bring.
We have also gotten rid of a few names that should benefit us. In a previous post that i have made i recognised Kurt Gidleys wonderful contribution to Newcastle yet he was now detrimental to us. Beau Scott is 31, turning 32 next year and he can only go down from here. Tyrone Roberts… Game breaker one game, absolutely nothing for the next 10 games.
Now to the young’ens. Yes i agree, a LOT of potential.
Jake Mamo, can be the Knights greatest fullback ever and that is better than Robbie Overdose.
Sione Mata’utia, not sure why he was picked for Australia but again has a lot of potential. An offseason working on his defence and his combination will only improve that.
Dane Gagai only 24 and a SOO tryscorer.
Daniel Levi is a great hooker coming through with some years on him, and with Danny B coaching he will be great. And the offchance that Robbie Farah comes to Newcastle is even more experience to teach him.
Joseph Tapine and Lachlan Fitzgibbon, really good second rowers and expect to see more of them next year.
And then the Sims boys. Two of our best performers this year and a scary proposition for any team when they are on their game.

Yes i agree with you they have a lot of potential and there have been wholesale changes but to class them as no-hopers, Harsh.

The NRL winners and losers for 2016

As much as Kurt Gidley has given his all to this club (and yes he WAS a great player before all the Anti-Gidley crew jump on) and will be remembered as one of Newcastles better players, as long as he is in the run on team the Knights will not make the finals. He makes too many errors, doesnt pass the ball enough (he is like a kid in primary school that just hogs the ball all to himself). I dont know whether Rick Stone has any control over the team because any coach worth his salt could understand that Kurt is not in the best 13 for Newcastle. If rumours are to be believed Kurt should leave the club now and go to England.
I was talking to a friend about Newcastles best back 5 and i think (just from watching his consistent effort) Jake Mamo should be Newcastles fullback with Sione on one of the wings. Im not sure which winger to get rid of, Mcmanus looks a little past it (maybe injuries) and Akuila does not have the same defence bending running he used to have. Maybe get rid of both wingers and have both matutias on the wings. Dane Gagai is one of the best ATTACKING centres in the game but his defence is useless and Joey Leilua… Joey is either the BEST centre in the game making ridiculous runs where no one can tackle him.. or he is the WORST centre in the game making stupid errors and doing nothing the entire game. If he can get some consistency he would easily be a NSW centre.
I might as well continue.. Tyrone Roberts has not had a great year, defenders have mostly worked him out and he is a turnstile in defence. Someone give me something about Mullen.. i cant even think what to write about him..
