Day-night tests are attractive when the match would otherwise be played on a hot 30C+ day which is most of the time on the subcontinent and peak summer in Australia. Now that we’re in autumn this might not resonate among the fans right now. I noticed most spectators prefer winter sports held in the afternoon since that’s the warmest time. Cricket isn’t a winter sport though.

Can Test cricket glow in the dark?

@Sheek, I don’t think Test cricket will die so easily in India. T20 or the IPL is where the glitz is, Indian cricket fans ultimately worship their heroes like Tendulkar, Dravid, Gavaskar, Kumble, Laxman, etc. who are all famous due to their performances in Test matches. Even the dasher Sehwag is more well known for making two triple centuries than any of his innings in the shorter formats. The only issue I see is that India will always play more than half (maybe 60-70%) of their Tests at home on pitches they are accustomed to which will keep them high in the rankings.

The biggest weakness of T20 from an Indian perspective is that hundreds are rarity even on flat pitches because of the limited number of balls faced by the batsmen. And Indians love their hundreds.

The top four are evenly matched, but where is Test cricket going?

I agreed Balanced. I have always felt that Border has been one of the most underrated cricketers of the last 50 years.

Who is the best Australian batsman since Bradman?

I personally don’t think cricket will grow enough in Vietnam for them to play in any international format at a reasonably high tier anytime soon but cricket should be proactive. There are plenty of countries such as Namibia, Bermuda, Suriname, Botswana, Papua New Guinea, Nepal, Ireland, Afghanistan, Fiji, etc. that are within the sphere of influence of establishing cricketing nations. These are the countries where cricket can thrive. Vietnam was neither a British colony nor it is near any cricket loving nation. And unfortunately, I don’t see enough English/Aussie/Indian expats migrating there compared to other parts of the world. All the best to the Vietnamese cricket community though.

Can cricket emerge in Vietnam?
