I like the idea of each Australian franchise having two teams in a NRC style competition. Each franchise has more than enough players throughout their squads to supply two teams and if players are away with the Wallabies, players from club rugby could be invited to play to fill the holes.

On another note, I would also love to see an FA Cup style knockout competition featuring all club teams from all the different states. I think it would make great tv viewing and would spring some major upsets. That way every club has an opportunity to compete at some level, with no biases. You might just see a fairytale run from a traditionally weaker side, all the way to the final.

COMMENT: ‘Making a choice’ - what are the REAL options available for Australia's third tier?

I think you are forgetting how good Greg Chappell was and the pace attacks he had to face in the 70’s and early 80’s. He’s by far the best Australian batsman I’ve seen in my lifetime. During World Series Cricket, which is regarded by the players who competed in it as the hardest and toughest cricket they played, only Greg Chappell, Viv Richards and Barry Richards averaged over 50, with Chappell scoring the most runs. It always amazes me how soon people forget the players of yesteryear.

Hopefully the Waratahs don’t waste him and continue to pick lightweight lock’s such as Hanigan, Sinclair and Holloway. You need heavyweight locks to dominate at the set piece and that is something the Waratahs lacked this season. Some of Coleman’s selections this season were baffling to say the least.
