Without those 3 50s, Sydney are suddenly only a few points up with 3 mins to go. Not 22 – could have been a very different result.

AFL Finals Focus: The Swans needed to find a way past mighty May. Buddy the decoy was how they did it

Well be right thanks mate, happy as Territorians here… find someone else to pay the Metronet bill lol

It's time to bring back State of Origin footy. Here's how the pre-finals bye could help make it happen

And because all 3 are needed it just won’t work.

Whitten-Kerley Cup I reckon.

NRL SOO works because there’s 2 states that compete in a best of 3. You just can’t replicate that in the AFL.

And… Melbourne watched the tape multiple times, worked out where they went wrong, spent a week training to make sure we won next close game. Beat Carlton by 2 points in the dying seconds following week.

The top eight rated: Which teams can actually win the flag?

I’d be pretty comfortable if I was a Geelong fan. However my money is still on my Demons till it’s impossible for them to win.

The top eight rated: Which teams can actually win the flag?

I’d actually just quit at the end of the game. Screw being treated like that

Pinching Clarko wouldn't have fixed the problem breaking the Bombers

I thought about it after the GF last year… Essendon and Carlton are powerful clubs – at least they were when I was growing up. Melbourne have been an at times competitive basket case never really looking like winning a flag. All 3 featured in the top 4 in the first year of the century- and since all three have had a fall from grace (salary cap x 3, tanking, supplement scandle), all three have had periods of genuine uncompetitiveness – yet the basket case was the first to recover and win the flag. This article hits the nail on the head as to why – 2 of those 3 clubs still play the “game” as though it’s a 12 team suburban comp. Things are looking up at Carlton I think but Essendon really need to move on, and start maybe ignoring the influential supporter groups that whilst maybe have the best interests of the club at heart, are most likely one of the things holding them back.

Pinching Clarko wouldn't have fixed the problem breaking the Bombers

I don’t think it was ever meant to be a long term arrangement which is why his family were happy to go in the first place

Good write up – very happy with what I saw from the Dee’s but I do take into account how bad Brisbane were. The biggest question for me is how in such an important match does one team effectively not turn up?

AFL Friday Footy Fix: Melbourne prove it's still their flag to lose as Zorko's 'faux tough' Lions get humiliated

They’re our bunnies for sure – I tried not to get over excited but regardless it was a great little tune up before finals

AFL Friday Footy Fix: Melbourne prove it's still their flag to lose as Zorko's 'faux tough' Lions get humiliated

It must seem worse in my head because I lived in Perth for so long and for some reason most trips to Melbourne seemed to coincidence with a loss to the Dockers on the G… I was really concerned last time we played Freo… not because it was in Perth, not because Freo are a formidable team, but because last time we played them on a Friday night whilst they were wearing those jumpers we lost by ten goals 😂 IN 1999!!!!

AFL Saturday Study: Epic win or not, the Dees have a serious problem. It's bye bye back-to-back unless they fix it

Essendon will not fix the issues at their club till they actually accept where and what they are – average. I saw this season coming, although I did expect them to be a bit harder to beat I didn’t think they would make finals. It took Richmond and WCE to fall in a heap last season for them to sneak in. They need an EXTERNAL review, not an internal one.

AFL News: Rutten safe for now despite rumours of axing amid Bombers board bedlam

Knights was a dead man walking from the second he was announced as coach. Essendon wanted Mark Williams or Bomber Thompson and said as much in the press conference announcing Knights as coach, however both had told Essendon to wait till the season was over before talking to them… and they selfishly went on to make the Grand Final. “We couldn’t wait any longer” I think was the quote at the presser… a few days before the GF.

AFL News: Rutten safe for now despite rumours of axing amid Bombers board bedlam

Sorry should have specified- on the MCG. They seem to do well against us on the G… pretty sure they’ve won most of the last 10 games there- but then we seem to rarely play them in Perth. And I have no faith in Melbourne what so ever.

AFL Saturday Study: Epic win or not, the Dees have a serious problem. It's bye bye back-to-back unless they fix it

Freo actually really have the wood on both Geelong and Melbourne- they find themselves in a final at the G against either of those two and I reckon they advance

AFL Saturday Study: Epic win or not, the Dees have a serious problem. It's bye bye back-to-back unless they fix it

Melbourne won’t be winning this year’s flag. It’s Geelongs to lose this year but the Dee’s are showing in this second half of season 2022 that they are infact, one trick ponies. And everyone has worked out their trick.

If we’re only going to find 6 talking points from 9 games can we please leave AFLW out of it?

Six Points: The broken rule that the AFL must fix, and the simple, obvious stat that will cost someone the flag

I think from memory the Eagles had a huge string of games in Vic 1990 too, although 1 of those games would have been the qualifying final replay…

Six Points: The dangerous problem the AFL must fix now, and is there a better solution than red cards?

Yet it wouldn’t be the first time Geelong has entered a game with this tactic 😁

Six Points: The dangerous problem the AFL must fix now, and is there a better solution than red cards?

I’m not sure about the red card… it’s a great idea on the surface but the problem is our umpires and tribunal get it so wrong so often I don’t trust them. Geelong should be playing all their home games in Geelong. I get the contract exists but as for the maximising crowds thing – if that’s the case why weren’t WCE forced to play home and away games at the G that were guaranteed to draw more than 45000 when they were at Subi? They need to be rewarded for doing the hard work and keeping the Cattery up to the standard its at rather than letting it waste away like so many suburban grounds before it. Grand Final entertainment should ALWAYS be local talent. Never a washed up old hag like Robbie Williams.

100% is making it up to avoid further scrutiny.

AFL NEWS: Beveridge calls for drugs policy to be scrapped as Bailey Smith speaks, No.1 pick urged to 'pull his head in'

More “mental health” issues at the Dogs hey? Time for the AFL to investigate because either it’s a dangerous place for young men at that club given all the “mental health” issues that seem to come out of it or it’s just horse manure and the Dogs think that they can worm out of any genuine scrutiny by getting their players to play the right cards, belittling genuine mental health issues in the process.

AFL NEWS: Beveridge calls for drugs policy to be scrapped as Bailey Smith speaks, No.1 pick urged to 'pull his head in'

Still pretty confident the Dee’s will walk away with back to back but they need to sort out a few little things first… pressure is WAY down on last year and just has to lift dramatically, and they need to sort out their forward line – this was obvious 4 weeks ago against North when the Dee’s went forward 70 times but only managed 25 scoring shots.
