Pre season practice games need to stay but maybe the coverage doesn’t

The AFL needs a fresh approach to the pre-season

To far away from what?

The AFL fixture is biased towards Victorian clubs

Important to note that Victorian teams are considered interstate teams to anyone not in Victoria.

One more team in both SA and WA, one in Tassie and NT. It might be too hot for you but the professional athletes will find a way for one game a year and the home team will have a true home ground advantage.

The AFL fixture is biased towards Victorian clubs

Don’t cut teams from Victoria but increase teams in other states and territories. 22 teams in all, play everyone once a year plus a rivalry game and alternate home and away games.

The AFL fixture is biased towards Victorian clubs

The problem with those clubs playing “home” games outside Melbourne is they always play no Victorian teams there.
If the AFL was serious about making the travel fairer they would fixture Melbourne teams against eachother in Tassie rather than continually sending Freo, Brisbane, GCS and GWS. That would also give non Victorian teams more opportunity to play in Melbourne and, as we all know, it’s where you need to play well if you want the ultimate success.
Commercial reasons dictate this won’t happen and that is understandable but, as a Lions fan, it woul be nice to play more at Marvel or the G rather than Tassie, Geelong or Ballarat.

Yeah and beat the Suns by 48 and 91 points which probably counts too. But generally a good viewing year which was my point

The best 2019 games to get you through the off-season

Was a fantastic year of viewing for us Lions supporters. Didn’t get blown away but didn’t blow anyone off the park either. Heart stoppers all the way

The best 2019 games to get you through the off-season

And we’re supposed to be supporting the same team too.

Tigers, Pies and Cats to hog the limelight as AFL unveils 2020 fixture

Not sure why you are so angry at Fitzroy and really don’t care but as a Melbourne based member yes it IS my club and that of all Melbourne members, whether we were Fitzroy supporters or not.

Thankfully the club do a much better job of welcoming ALL supporters, regardless of location, even if they have it wrong on this occasion.

Have a miserable afternoon (you obviously don’t need too much encouragement on that front).

Tigers, Pies and Cats to hog the limelight as AFL unveils 2020 fixture

I chose to follow what was left of my club to Brisbane. Can’t support any other club and love going to the games. Was once a Fitzroy Cheer Squad member and now a fully fledged Lions tragic.
Would obviously love more games in Melbourne. I initially didn’t mention the distance between us but did mention my location, big difference. Suggesting I’m glad you’re in another state is because you don’t seem likable so glad you’re not near me.
The upset one was clearly you with your initial response “The team has been called Brisbane Lions for a fair while now. I could not give two stuffs about Fitzroy desperadoes and their so-called entitlement to this side.” and then “My complaint, as always, is that people in melbourne, where there are no less than 9 clubs playing AFL and Fitzroy itself still playing in the VAFA feel themselves entitled to a say and demands in how the sole club based in Brisbane is run. This is our team, ie. Brisbane’s team – it is no longer the property of Fitzroy, and Fitzroy fans should be grateful that they have whatever affiliation we still choose to give them.”
Time for you to understand it is OUR team

Gotta say that with your attitude I’m extremely glad you don’t work for MY club.

In case you didn’t notice, I mentioned Vic based Lions members, not old Fitzroy supporters. To suggest that any footy supporter should show gratitude for having their club taken away shows who you really are and I’m glad you are in another state.

GO LIONS!

Tigers, Pies and Cats to hog the limelight as AFL unveils 2020 fixture

Vic based Lions members totally screwed with only 4 games in Melbourne. Geelong doesn’t count

That is fundamentally incorrect. The ladder and rankings continue through finals and define the draft order.

To the losers go the spoils

The ladder system still continues during finals. The winners of the qualifying finals take 1st and 2nd while the losers take 3rd and 4th. They then host the winners of the elimination finals who currently sit in 5th and 6th on the ladder.
Losers this week will be ranked 5th and 6th on the ladder and losers next week 3rd and 4th.
This is why the winners from week 1 will host the preliminary finals.

To the losers go the spoils

Everyone except Brisbane had a good record at the gabba prior to this year. It is a factor in 2019

An AFL finals series full of intrigue awaits

God I hope he doesn’t end up in the media.

Fremantle sacks Ross Lyon and CEO

I don’t expect to win but reckon it will be a great game. Hope it’s as good as last weekend.

2019 AFL Power Rankings: Round 22

Lions are ace!

2019 AFL Power Rankings: Round 22

If a team can contain Cameron then someone else will get off the leash. McStay does everything required and has been one of the most consistent in the team. Hipwood works massively up the ground. McCarthy hits the scoreboard, as does Chritensen, Zorko, McLuggage and Robinson among others.

I reckon the Tigers will get the chockies next week but write off the Lions at your peril.

Five talking points from AFL Round 22

3.30pm in March in Brisbane won’t happen because of the heat and we already know that the SCG can’t host a game in round 1 next year due to cricket commitments.

What Round 1 of the 2020 AFL season should look like

I appear to have the wrong commenter, my apologies.

The rest of my comment stands though, just putting forward an opposing theory.

A decade of misery is almost over for the Brisbane Lions

It is just more likely they make the 8 next year rather than go onto a dynasty or fall away completely. I was just suggesting an opposing theory to yours. You seem hell bent on them not making finals next year after you tipped Carlton to improve more than the Lions this year.

A decade of misery is almost over for the Brisbane Lions

Not hard really. You suggested they could be like Melbourne of this year or Dogs of 2017 etc and I merely pointed out they could also emulate the efforts of the Hawks in 2014 or 2015 (or maybe even both).

A decade of misery is almost over for the Brisbane Lions

Hawthorn of 2014 or 2015

A decade of misery is almost over for the Brisbane Lions

Nothing beats a good conspiracy theory, except facts and truth of course.

The umpire made a mistake, of of many throughout the game, good and bad for both teams.
