ah the famous insularity of Australians comes out. Things do actually change sometimes. Why is the only acceptable result against Ireland a win? We are actually a good team nowadays….
Seriously the difference in the last decade in out academy system and high performance setup cannot be overstated. Tens years ago pro players in Ireland were getting changed beside their cars and now they walk into a cryo-chamber after a big match. Things change.

We’ve a pretty decent record against SA aswell. Certain supporters in southern hemisphere just don’t seem to take Ireland seriously despite the facts. Yeah we were shit in the past but things change. We might not be the best team in the world but the idea that you wouldn’t worry about us in comparison to any of the other northern nations is a bit odd.
Wallabies lose narrowly to Ireland in Dublin
Hey it’s somebody who knows Irish rugby. Look at the team which Joe Schmidt built at Leinster which dominated European rugby, it certainly didn’t play the way we are playing now. The reason we believe in Joe is that he is an incredibly smart coach and can adapt given the circumstances. He doesn’t have Ireland for very long, he doesn’t have time to teach the players a full game plan and we were missing our main ball carriers. Trying to play a more attacking style of rugby would have ended badly for us.
We really wanted the wins and we played the rugby we could with the players we had to beat the opposition presented to us. It won’t be good enough for the world cup but that’s okay, we’ve learnt how to adapt and win ugly. Conor Murray, Sexton, Kearney and D’arcy all went off with concussion in the last 10 minutes and we replaced them with quality. That’s probably our biggest take away from the entire series.
