The Wallabies were basically the Brumbies who had the advantage of playing together.

O’Neil got them into the mess… twice. Third time lucky?
CONFIRMED: Peter Wiggs resigns from Rugby Australia board
Rugby was caught in the middle of the gay rights versus religion debate… major sponsor versus highest profile player. Rock and a hard place and Raelene got out of it, albeit with a few bruises.
Phil Kearns won't be the Rugby Australia CEO
I agree, its got that bad. How long can you watch something you love die? It just goes on and on.

Yep, and when Australian rugby was in financial trouble in the 80s NZ helped them out. O’Neill kicked NZ off the RWC ’03 joint hosting rights and burned that bridge.
Fast five: Talking points from the latest raid on rugby's 'Castle'
I propose a whole new scoring and penalty system as follows:
• On being awarded a penalty the game can carry on under advantage and the team awarded the penalty accrues a “penalty point”. As the game carries on they can be awarded more penalty points.
• Penalty points need to be redeemed to be added on to the score. This can be done by scoring a try, kicking a penalty, or kicking a drop goal. All the accrued penalty points will be added to the 5 points awarded for the try but only 3 for a pen or drop goal.
• Shots at goal and drop kicks can only be taken when a team has accrued 3 penalty points. If the kick misses the penalty points are not lost. The 3 points will be added from the penalty points total for kicks.
