All the talk is either it being A2-League and B-League, or a name that has no relation at all with the current name. I always thought that they could get away with defining the leagues by calling it something like A-League Premiership and A-league Championship, Or A-league 1st Div and A-league 2nd Div The FOOTBALL LEAGUE does a similar thing with the 4 divisions being called Premier League, Championship, League 1 and League 2.

B-League or A2-League for second tier?

All of what i said, Bringing Overseas players to play in the AFL, is a far cry from what “Repulican” is talking about. The AFL is never going to attempt to create teams overseas until such a point as there is a completely national competition that has teams representing every state in Australia. Thus having reguler top flight football games held all over the country

AFL in New Zealand

You would be amazed by the number of teams actually getting players from overseas to train with their team. Hawthorn are attempting to get a player from New Zealand. I know that Kevin Sheady has long been after a young South African boy and there is Natanoui of Fiji playing in West coast.

They are just a few examples of players from overseas finding a way into the AFL. They are attempting to gain a far wider talent base than Australia. PNG Africa, the Pacific Islands and South East Asia are just some examples of countries being targeted and are clearly gaining some leverage in these countries, with what will clearly be a better lifestyle here.

The growth is far larger than you might think with the attempt to have two teams in the annual Under 16 championship carnival, for a Pacific Island XVIII and a world XVIII to play the junior state teams.

It is an excellent development that will begin to create a pathway for kids from other countries, who show some of the desired skills to get into the AFL. In the future, a large number could be present in clubs, to the point that a Rep team could be created. (Australia Vs Rest of world)

I have always wondered why the hell Horetz was ever put in the team, I always thought Cameron White should be in the team. If he is not going to be, Give the guy the 20/20 and 1 day international captain. He is far far superior to any other player in those two forms.

Stephen Smith in this case should be fast tracked into the test squad, at horetz’s expense, and will most likely find a way into the other 2 teams as well.

No matter how you try to sugar coat it Huretz is entirely incapable of playing international cricket, period.

I thought you may of been a little harsh on young Mitch Johnson, who is a super dangerous fast bowler when he has a good day Hilfenhaus and Bollinger make this one hell of a 3 pronged fast attack.

If look at our top order, few changes are needed, these being Marcas North, Hussy and maybe Simon Katich to be replaced.
If you move Watson to 6th (just ahead of Hadden/Payne) you bring in two specialist opening batters and a single middle order batter.

I dont know why people are talking about, how we could be faced with the end of cricket in australia. In reality there are maybe 4 places that are up for grabs in the test team

The link between Australian Cricket and The Cranberries

in an earlier post i did suggest a north Brisbane team, but i guess that is easily replaced with what would be a south Brisbane/Logan team (come to think of it Suncorp is in the north of the city near Fortitude Valley).

Help design the future A-League (Part 1)

It is clear that a 20 team competition as the top flight compotition is clearly overkill and obviously unable to be supported in the long term, However i do believe that the professional clubs could number a total of 20 by 2022.

The 11 teams that are currently in the A-league are all in reasonable financial shape, in that none are going to be folded in the near future. I suspect that only one more club will be brought in directly to share a single market, being the Sydney Rovers, who look as if they will play out at homebush or Parramatta, however, if the world cup does come to Australia, they will play at the new stadium in Blacktown.

At this point we will have a 12 team Comp, which should see the time ripe to begin A2-league. It should begin with an 8 team Comp with Canberra (Capital Punishment), Tasmania (Tasmania United), Wollongong/ South Coast, Ballarat, Geelong, Christchurch, North Brisbane And Darwin

The two leagues should remain separate (accept for any FFA Cup matches) for 2-3 years, to let the clubs settle in this softer environment before commencing the Relegation and promotion system. This first year will beginwith 2 teams promoted to make the Top Flight A-League a 14 team Comp, and 2 teams to be named to enter the A2 League to take the other 2 teams places. From this point it will continue as you see in europe and other leagues where 1 or 2 teams switch each year.

I think that this kind of debacle is a scathing reflection on the professionality of some NRL clubs. The Knights are clearly attempting to sabotage the Jets, through booking events to severly damage the field.

Outrage after Jets-Fury match postponed

I cannot get over the Imense greed of the Cricket Australia and BCCI who seem to own the ICC. I always thought the ICC was about encouraging the smaller nations to get greater cricket participation, Grow the game or whatever else you could say. 20/20 is not going to be the main form in the future

Cricket Australia seduced by the dollar

I am surprised that you had suggested that both Perth and Adelaide should have a 2nd Team each. I always thought of those two city’s as being lucky to support the current clubs that they have.

Another Suggestion that will be found questionable is the idea of a Bendigo team. Victorians are generally under the impression that any 3rd Victorian team will be located in Geelong. Upon getting the World cup, Geelong’s Kadinia Park will get a massive upgrade, making it the largest stadium outside of Melbourne in Victoria. It would be a shame for there not being a local team in the A-league to host games there.

I always thought that Tasmania should get a side. They are dying to have a team in any national comp, and will likely play out of two stadiums. Darwin is another city that should have representative in a national league, It surely would have a larger population in its Metropolitan area than Gosford and Newcastle. Canberra is also another city in desperate need of representation in the A-league, it too will receive a fancy new stadium.

Last question, why Auckland, the last team based there failed dismally, i thought you would rather have a team in the south island, possibly Christchurch or Dunedin.

Does this guy realise that in australia, we never do things the most logical way, with the 14 team league, we will simply just have the teams play each other home and away, followed by 4 or 5 rounds where they 4-5 teams a 3rd time

A-League should hold off on expansion

Well then it looks like that you have found even more items on the long, long list of objectives for the Independent commision

Time to rationalise second and third tier

Storm have been treated like shit by the NSW contolled NRL board. We have had problems with whatever free to air league we do get. Phil Gould is a shit head, biased as. Same with that Ray Warren and dont get me started with stirling. They almost never show the post match celebrations of grand finals or origin

I can go on and on and on about this

Who else has thought that australia would be better off sending a junior team of swimmers, basicly ones that have not been in olympic or world squads. it gives the next generation an opportunity to get used to world international swimming
