Amen!!!
Hooper & Phipps behaviour must not be far from anyone’s minds.
Bring back Izzy!!!

The Waratahs' leaders, not Israel Folau, have led to this disastrous season

You started pretty negative Geoff which I was dissappointed with but good drawing together of the ARU shamozzle. I reckon we let Sydney do what it likes & join forces with the Force. that is forming a Federated Australian Rugby of two states. Let’s call ARU, a Warratahs subsidiary in the meantime.
cheers

The Wrap: Only one Australian finalist a poor Super Rugby return

he’s not the first head coach to think short term with his patch. That is unconcerned how the National team fares & for developing long term players at the high level.
How many Kiwis are influencing Aust. rugby now?

No rest for the wicked: Waratahs to go ‘all in’ with season on the line

I thought Paul Williams was Tah’s man of the match. mitigating Rebels attack – penalty no yellow card; going back far enough to find a way not to award Quade Cooper’s try; giving scrum to Tahs even though Phipps knocked on; penalising Niasarani for no release after not held; … That’s just off the top of my head .. sorry Rebels but they weren’t helped by dropped ball.
& impressive Tah defence

Tahs trample over Rebels to win tight encounter

I enjoyed that. thanks.
I agree with the undecided nature of the midfield and the requirements for solid pack but not the only criteria for victory.
I’m a patriot & think Wallabies will do better but am half expecting Whales to go against their trend of bad form at this end of the reporting cycle. Wallabies have 2 sound no. 12s now. 1 for defence (Tamoua) & 1 for attack (Beale unless he gets kicked over to France to join other liberal minded comrades).
All indicators are pointing to NZ decline (even with Bogan Barrett’s panaz). The locks & props are tired & Flankers are great Super players – but they don’t elevate NZ pack against Irie & the will-be Wallabies.
I’m hoping for Springbok & Scottish surprises as true contenders – the back of Great Scottish movies (Brave Heart) & a philosophical manager like Erasmus.

Who will be the starting No.12s in the World Cup quarter-finals?

good overview on the roles of a scrum half. except it’s only since Gregan (isn’t it? ) that the 1/2 has stepped before passing.
Giteau law is good. It gives us those we’ve invested in & young players we need to nurture for depth.

Why Rugby Australia should listen to Bob Dwyer and dump the Giteau Law

couldn’t disagree with you more .
Dwyer & Mcqueen are far from the Independent criteria
Chieka deserving to be axed. why? because we lost to the world’s best mostly by margins.
Chieaka’s decisions to give the Wallabies depth & ability to play rugby (regardless of who is playing what position) in the longer term by: moving secure players into positions where they can transfer existing world class skills; & bood new players in key position where we already lack depth (such as full back, 5/8, inside centre, Loose forwards).
You’re way off the mark with your comments.
The AR structure will be better after recruiting Johnson & another selector who is Independent – without an interest in embedded systemic issues in Australia.

Make Rod Macqueen or Bobby Dwyer the third Wallaby selector

just check again why you want Ceika removed. lost to whom by how much? Be careful not to overstate your case.

Cheika survives the axe as Rugby AU bring in Scott Johnson as director of rugby

they always get around Ned defending on blind side though. too slow, for no.6

All is not lost: Four quick fixes for the Wallabies forwards

Perhaps WB may rely on bacline play and having Pooper combo. gives more credance to WB style.

All is not lost: Four quick fixes for the Wallabies forwards

good constructive article again Nich. thanks.
Hooper did the same as Latu (creating a hole in our defence by eagerly coming up out of the line in mid field) in a few very significant games lost by small margins. I’ve not seen him do that for a year or so.
I liked the article by Campese that noted the blooding of young players at the top level which inevitably risks losing so many tests (against the strongest possible national teams) that reaults in a drop in world rankings. That’s prioritising games you want to have increased risk of losing. In that context we should be complaining if our win is at the expense of not blooding new players. We were fortunate in that respect because we have 2 world best openside flankers, with them both injured at some point in 2018. otherwise we would have a less depth than we currently have in loose forwards. Hanigan was tried needs speed & awareness & quicker thinking. Fardie?? Rebels (ex Perth) Flanker too old to try? Pocock at no.8 is good eh, but demostrates he is better than any current Aust. no.8s. I would puck Pooper combo over any other combo. on current form.
I’m glad for:
1. Tomoua trial at 10. The team benefits accommodating other variables
2. I started to like Nick Phipps after, especially when Ginea lost enthusiasm sporadically this year. Fortunately Genia has remembered the value of box kick. Gordon deserved an opportunity & awareness at the top level.
3. 2nd row – I cannot believe (like Phipps) how long we had to endure slow Simo. How many times did we lose a test from him being run around? The Japn test this year, something clicked for him. Whatever that was please do it again. Surely Rory’s aggression is so much more advanced I must be missing something? )
4. front row – see Nich.s’ article
5. centre pairing – having Beale, has done nothing for our depth of options. Tomoua? Job Ad. Wanted 2 of: Offloader, quick change of pass & line of attack, awareness of supporters running lines; awareness & solid in defence, leader, capable of passing long & on the fly, solid kick distance as option
6. Kirobeti – secured
7. back 3 – Folou – secured @ 15, Kirobeti @ open, left?? & other winger do you want the highest try scorer of super rugby Niaravolo (spel?) or a spare distance goal kicker? in Hodge. hmmm difficultly decisions are a blessing

All is not lost: Four quick fixes for the Wallabies forwards

Spiro
Did you watch any of the games you commented on?
Foley stood too deep.???
Tomoua did just whay Foley did but lacked the occasional flare of Foley. ?? Is that a wrap for Foley??
you said out of all the backs only AAC played well, then you changed your mind.
why? What was Kirobeti like?
He’s in great form.
Am I the only one who wants to see what Tomoua is like at 10 (as if we don’t need another number 10)?
Did you see any forwards do anything (Hooper, Rodder, Topou, Dempsey – in form or what)?
How did our (Wallabies) favourite ref. (O’Keif) perform in the Wales match (e.g. wasn’t Hannigan pinned down overtly on the ruck by a large red jersey)?
Wallabies lost the series to Ireland 3-1.each game could’ve gone either way. Ireland beat NZ. What’s the comment? Wallabies lost more than they won it is rltrue. How many games could’ve gone either way. They’re teir 1. They deserve to be critically analyzed, not just sledged. They need to start winning but how? & what is their strategy (long ter & short term)? what has succeeded & failed & how do you measure that?

Wallabies defeat Italy, but the RWC 2019 cause still looks hopeless

good response. it’s just that when it’s done on the international stsge when people just want to watch the game, you will find people at least wondering what the boys in black are doing instead of getting on with the game.

I'm totally over the Haka

maybe do it in the dressing shed before they come out. or before the national anthems. not just before the kick off

I'm totally over the Haka

it’s not even entertaining. it’s embarrassing

I'm totally over the Haka

good one mate. I don’t find the Haka entertaining & I don’t want to watch it begore any rugby game. it means absolutely nothing to me. I just want to watch the rugby.
why are we & more essentially why are the opposition forced to stand & watch it before the kick off? I heard there were rules that they had to adhere to. talk about attention seekers. I will not comment on what I think it looks like because it would be impolite.

I'm totally over the Haka

thanks Spiro. At least your winge was constructive. But same question for all the wingers, Why do you let the complaints you have swamp your love of the game? Is it because your passion for rugby in Australia is greater than the enjoyment you get from watching the game?

Heads must roll as Cheika's Wallabies lose against Wales with stupid play

Latu reacted like anyone should when they’re under attack. Poitear was incredibly hopeless

Seven talking points from Bledisloe Game 3

Wallabies pinned ABs in their own quarter using deep restarts

Seven talking points from Bledisloe Game 3

i don’t think you did that game or the Wallabies justice at all there. I thought they played well, Ginea decisions were great but it is the trade off using Ginea’s brain or Phipps’ eagerness & courage. wish we had both but both play well & every team accommodates differing talents. My only regret is the Wallabies still don’t have the ‘Jedi’ wave of the hand to tap into the referee’s decisions. Example a) penalty to Wallabies when Simons was held up? = penaly try??; b) Pockock almost had to blow the whistle to get the penaly justice from a jackle that the Kiwi’s had without even looking like threatening to steal the ball drom the ruck …etc. etc)
2 Fijian wingers amazing.
Our scrum monstered theirs in the 2nd half ( Jedi-Kiwi hand wave got our dominance a yellow card). They didn’t like that!!!
perhaps if the Wallabies do a kiddies dance with their tongues hanging out they’win friends with the ref. out of sympathy…

Seven talking points from Bledisloe Game 3

good one Nich.
We’re still in the same rut then. Selecting best players & putting them somewhere on the paddock instead of selecting best players for each position. case in point 7 Hooper & 10 Foley not used to defending together. This is excused if you’re in under 7s when you just do whatever is a fun idea.

It's time for the Wallabies to stop the music on defence
