Hi Allan,
When I was a junior we followed the “Honan Drills” every week from age 10-14.
I also remember there was a video (VHS tapes) and manual that explained everything, I think my dad got a copy by going along and completing a coaching course run by the state union. He was our coach at club level.
Those drills were fundamental – I recall everyone using them (even the Wallabies said “my pick, my place, my roll” when watching video of their training sessions) and it was a universal language when you stepped out of club/school rugby and into rep teams.
No idea when/where that setup was dropped or lost, but they were vital in the 90s to teaching juniors the skills they needed for rugby.
