I’ll tell you.

Absolutely no change. Test cricket could die tomorrow, and there will still be dozens of players earning HUGE bucks playing t20.

'Not curtains for me in Test cricket': Windies star defends putting T20s above Australia tour as weakened squad named

What you want is financially unsustainable. Authorities can only lead and make decisions based on the market.

You need to be realistic, and not have a hernia when you think it’s an outrage that Spencer Johnson will get $1m to play IPL, but test “star” Matt Renshaw misses out on that money despite having played test cricket.

Cricket is not the only sport where the international game is not the financial peak.

Football, Basketball (you can barely get US players to turn up to non-Olympic internationals), Ice Hockey (the NHL banned it’s players from international hockey the past 3 Olympics), Baseball etc.

What you fail to appreciate is that you (and I) hold a minority view of test cricket. We think test cricket is the pinnacle of cricketing talent. But what you fail to grasp is that that doesn’t automatically equate to that getting the most money.

There are literally dozens of examples where the “peak” role/position gets paid less than others. Being the Australian Prime Minister (or holding any ministry) is arguably the peak position of public service. Gets paid half the wage of a department secretary though.

PM’s get paid less than department secretaries, but get a better legacy. Same in cricket.

The legacy of Jason Holder for what he did in test cricket will be remembered more what Kieron Pollard did in t20s. People have basically already forgotten him anyway.

Rubbish.

They’ve had a D/N test there before. Against a good NZ team. Barely adequate crowds.

We’ve had all types of ridiculous claims about would bring a crowd to a test in Perth. The funniest of course being that Morris’ selection would bring 20k to the ground himself.

The market has spoken.

And secondly, you try telling players to accept significantly watered down contracts for long form cricket instead of t20 riches.

Why should the ICC and national bodies prioritise it?

indeed, why should CA prioritise it even further?

Look at Perth. These supposed cricket loving fans never turn up to the tests but they’ll turn up to BBL.

I’m a test purist. I barely watch t20. But the market has spoken.

Surely the OG T20 player Ian Harvey would be in the t20i side?

Best Never Ever XI: The greatest Australian cricketers who didn’t play each of the three formats

That’s absurd. T20 is an entirely different game to test cricket.

Saying someone is good as test cricket doesn’t mean they are going to be good at T20 and vice versa.

By your logic Alastair Cook would deserve a bigger IPL contact than, say, Chris Lynn because Cook has played test cricket.

Or Bryce McGain should get a bigger contact over Adam Zampa.

Johnson’s opinion of his talent will always be conditional on the market and selectors. He can think what he wants.

Starc raving mad: Aussie to bank insane $13,000 per ball in IPL as Cummins and Head also go for big bucks

They do.

But it’s still a needs based game.

Starc raving mad: Aussie to bank insane $13,000 per ball in IPL as Cummins and Head also go for big bucks

It isn’t.

And you still don’t have the dignity to apologise to Ben

Pitchers don’t play anywhere near the full season.

If a good pitcher plays 60 games it’s a miracle

Thanks mate. I know that, but it’s still fun.

But, clearly life is not that for you

I thought you never play the man, Don?

To paraphrase you, when someone makes it personal they’ve obviously not no compelling argument and should be ignored

Adam Reynolds v Roosters in 2012.

Last minute try (in fact, the second of two last minute tries) to beat the Roosters. From the kick off after the previous try they scored, they ran the field, 5 passes.

Amazing.

When grown men wept, Steelers prayed and nobody was there: Six of rugby league’s most dramatic late tries

1. A June/July tournament would disrupt the seasons in China, Japan, Korea…well, all of Asia really. And they’re the ones with the financial clout (for now, Saudi will soon rule all). So, a handful of players in Europe get disrupted vs entire leagues in Asia.

2. You can’t play the AFC in June/July anywhere in Asia. It would be oppressive and no one would go (well, barely anyone goes to the tournament anyway, but you would be guaranteeing no one would go). People barely attend league matches over the summer months of the year and you’d want this to be a flagship tournament that would be well attended.

Holding the world cup in June/July in Japan/Korea was attended, because, it’s the world cup. AFC struggles to get good crowds to these. The answer won’t be in June/July.

And you can’t hold it in Australia in June/July because AFL or NRL won’t give up their grounds

'Hasn't been a decision I've taken lightly': Socceroos stalwart makes surprise retirement call

Scherzer will play about 65 games a season either as a starting or relief pitcher, and will accordingly pitch about 6000 balls for the season. Slightly more if they make the post-season.

Scherzer will get approximately $9716 a pitch.

Cummins will bowl a maximum of 384 legal deliveries for the entire tournament.

Cummins will get $11458 per delivery. It’s highly likely he won’t even play every game, or indeed bowl his full complement. So that figure only goes up.

As Brainstrust pointed out…old data.

What’s the problem with this?

You earn more money as year as an ambulance chasing lawyer than you do as a magistrate, but get more respect as a magistrate.

That’s the free market.

I find it amusing Jeff that you feel free to make cheap shots at Hayden but when you misunderstood Ben for making a pot shot at Green (which he absolutely didn’t), you nearly burst a vein?

Consistency, mate.

Again, you seem to ignore entirely Johnson’s own admission he took it too far?

I’d rate Warne, McGrath, Reiffel and McDermott as a pretty formidable quartet in the mid 90’s.

Reiffel was a walk up 100 test player if he played for any other country.

No.
