Outside back in the day, not that long ago really....

Quick thoughts on the Bobby’s try around 20 minutes. Rolling maul. It was a brilliant but rare kind of maul. The one we worked on in first grade years ago. Transferring the ball whilst mauling. The guys at the front build the momentum and peel out with an opponent, then rejoin at the back. The ball may be then transferred you you and those at the front do the same again. Repeat as necessary, if you’re moving forward when you peel out and rejoin the maul you’re adding momentum. If you’re going back, you’re trying to halt momentum on the back foot with a tonne of humans rolling your way. I feel this is an almost lost art form which is a beautiful part of rugby. Much more interesting than the solid set, drive and the hooker always scores as he’s at the back. Or 7 as the Pocock method used to do at the brumbies

Yes agree, and each level of the pathway should have their own strategy which feeds into the overall strategy best serving Australian rugby. Supported by RA. Hypothetical at this point sure, I reckon I could get AI to make me an overall strategy in half an hour with the right inputs. It may take a while to work out those inputs, but AI can help there too.

Or PK, we can trust in RA.

Set up to fail: The gaping hole in Aussie Super Rugby coaching CVs - with one clear exception

Hahaha, not much of a segue at all!!

Fresh Wallabies blow as Waratahs lose gun centre to complicate selection ahead of Lions tour

Just like for players coaches need solid pathways. RA should have a development plan for every Super asst coach and first grade hospital and Shute head coaches. This should include things like time overseas amongst many other initiatives.

Oh, sorry, just realised my mistake – that sounds like a strategy

I also think there’s a lot of experience that younger players can learn from, both on and off the field (I.e. don’t put yourself in certain situations)

'Why wouldn't you?': Beale backed for NRL switch by cross-code great

You’re correct, we shouldn’t have to choose but either way they have Suali on 1.6m. Well I read 1.6 the other day but I think I’ve heard as low as 1 before, way too much either way

I humbly disagree. I’d rather have four (or even one) Perese’s providing competition for spots in the Waalabies while mentoring the next generation than one over priced Leaguie cross coder. And keep Mark N as well. Unfortunately I see this as another symptom of previous mismanagement by RA, and we’re still paying the piper. I also find it amazing that the security at New Parliament House (how long do we need to call it ‘New’?) aren’t trained in responsible service of alcohol, which is now costing the taxpayer millions. Incompetence everywhere

Interesting, thought it was just me but seems to be quite a broad isssue, thanks for raising

ANALYSIS: Good teams win when they're not at their best - but the Brumbies have a lot to fix to challenge in Super Rugby

It would be nice. But it’s taking longer than Phil Waugh would’ve liked, so you know, I would really like to know who the CEO of RA is so that we can hold him/her to account for the delay. Phil, perhaps you can let us roarers know who the CEO is so that interested parties could petition them for some decisive answers?

'We need to accelerate': Waugh admits RA behind schedule on Rebels future as tickets sold to ailing club's Lions clash

I’d agree but feel the slower starting kiwi sides will get up to speed quick smart. Also, although I think the Aus super sides have improved this year, they will still need to improve more to compete at the business end of the competition

But also include 20 or so club players as identified by the talent scouts. If indeed talent scouts exist in Australian rugby

I’ve missed a few steps in my logic but please feel free to expand if you get the drift!

McReight masterclass, Uru statement: Reds smash Rebels in Aussie Super Rugby derby

How’s this for a left idea, RA mandate that any uncapped Wallaby becomes available for 2 or 3 week blocks of training learning from the likes of Joe, Laurie and whatever provincial coach’s needed to deliver on the basics of whatever they think the national side needs. Mix it up. Build cohesion at the basic level

McReight masterclass, Uru statement: Reds smash Rebels in Aussie Super Rugby derby

It’s been a tough few years, covid, Ukraine, the Houthi’s, Chinese Iron Ore demand about to go off a cliff but the longest malaise has been the last two decades of incompetence at Rugby HQ leading to what could be catastrophic. Even though it’s kind of playing the fiddle while Rome burns, but could we please have some positive articles while rugby is still a thing in Australia? Not asking players about their potential team mate’s decisions. Ask about the rugby, please. It won’t be for long, I don’t understand how 2025 will work even if the Rebel’s aren’t cut, all their players will be gone and it’ll be untenable. Then add the flow on affects for any other player coming off contract in 2024. What a mess. So please, let’s find out Belly’s favourite movie or hobby whilst he still can pay the bills to do these things

Wow. Welcome to the big time RA, An $80m deal to pay down $40m and start again with $40m. They’ll have nothing left if the rebels get up. But they’ll never be able to take Vunivalu from out beautiful game. Until his contract runs out

Thought there may have been an obstruction in the first vdM try, really liked, though, that the ref was asked by Wales and he said it looked fine live avoiding what would often be a 10 minute TMO investigation and trial by slow motion. Good decision
