Regarding number 22, I think you are half right. We’d be better off with no commentary at all for most games. How people can sit there and describe to use what we just saw and think it adds anything to the game is beyond me.

Some sporting facts for you to unquestioningly accept

Sorry, have to disagree that it’s devastating news that Dahlhaus is on his way out. While they won’t say it publicly, I think you might find the club feels the same way.

His stats were down this year off their peak in 15, 16 and 17 which could suggest he is past his prime.

AFL top 100: The wash-up – Western Bulldogs

Thanks Josh,

This is a well thought through proper analysis unlike other media outlets where they spew meaningless dribble.

Believe it or not, the Bulldogs were 2018's biggest overperformers

Of all the things to write about in AFL, you come up with this?

What would the Bulldogs and Saints look like if they merged?

I just don’t understand the pessimism about the Dogs chances this year. A large number of senior players had severely curtailed pre-seasons last year which caught up with them by mid-year. Together with opposition clubs spending the summer looking at their game plan, it was always going to be an uphill battle.

Trust in Bevo. He delivered the first flag in 62 years, he can get the most out of what is still a very good list.

Unburdened by expectation, can the Bulldogs climb back into contention?

What’s wrong with getting high and mighty anytime I like?

AFL preview series: Greater Western Sydney Giants - 7th

Because Setterfield has an ACL and won’t play this year

AFL preview series: Greater Western Sydney Giants - 7th

Gee I can’t wait for the real thing to start, all this faffing about predicting finishes based on “analysis”, when it’s nothing more than glorified opinion pieces, educated or not.

I’ve got issues with a large number of your predicted finishes all for different reasons, namely:
1. North – will be nearer the bottom
2. Dogs – will be nearer the top
3. Collingwood – will tread water
4. GWS – will be nearer the top
5. Gold Coast – will be nearer the middle

But that’s just my opinion, just like a grain of salt….

The AFL only have one job to do as custodians of the game, and that is to ensure they keep the pipeline of kids interested in the game full. They are obviously failing at this given that AFL heart land pool of talent in Tasmania has run dry.

Instead, the AFL sends all the ex-Xavier boys club members off to Harvard Business School who come back with all these grand ideas about innovation, new products and business concepts that are not actually relevant to a sporting code akin to a religion.

The AFL needs to focus on keeping soccer at bay, not wasting money and energy on distractions.

AFL X-cess: That's too much, man

I can’t actually believe you suggested that Port recruit Jack Darling. Mr Footsteps himself frightened by his own shadow…

Power play: Port Adelaide's bold moves will pay dividends... Eventually

Are you joking?

Richmond gets Dustin, North Melbourne get dust

I am not a Kangas or Tigers fan, but Dustin Martin is better off where he is, even if it is for less money.

Dusty's decision: Take North's money or win a flag with Richmond

GWS’ form on the road is still shaky. Stringer and Dickson back give the Dogs more goal kicking power, but Patton and Greene are big ins for GWS.

Last week could have been a 10 goal win for the Dogs if the Bont and Redpath had kicked straight.

Dogs at home for me.

Western Bulldogs vs GWS Giants: Friday Night Forecast

The Boyd deal has nothing to do with the Dogs keeping JJ. JJ is waiting for the CBA to be finalised which may provide the Dogs the opportunity to pay him more. Simple as that.

When they zig you zag: The key to cracking premierships

Apologies. He met Brendan McCartney with Peter Gordon not Luke Beveridge

When they zig you zag: The key to cracking premierships

The Boyd trade was not a knee jerk reaction. They had been speaking to him during the course of the season and he even met Luke Beveridge and Peter Gordon at Peter Gordon’s house mid-season well before Griffen walked out. As such it was researched, but nevertheless risky as Boyd was unproven.

The Dogs front ended the deal and paid Boyd in the order of $1.8mm in the first season as a sign on bonus so they keep a manageable wage structure in future years.

The Dogs hadn’t won for 62 years so the ends may well justify the means, but I wouldn’t want to see the approach become common. And Boyd was a massive contributor in the Grand Final. He probably should have won the Norm Smith. 9 marks, 6 contested and 3 goals made him a critical contributor.

The arguments for and against Jack Watts

Keep writing your articles, Ken. Your articles are better than anything Mark Robinson could ever spout.

The arguments for and against Jack Watts

Not sure what game you were watching if you thought GWS were better than the Bulldogs in the prelim.

The Dogs won the disposal count 392-359, had 17 more inside 50s, and won the clearances 53-38.

The tide has turned in Sydney after years of Swans domination

Roberts and Hamling are both low possession defenders and I don’t believe this fits into Beveridges ideal game plan. Hamling left, so no biggie as Adams is big bodied and a higher possession winner. Not the same as, but similar to, a certain Brian Lake. I think Roberts will come under pressure if Collins can develop.

The Bulldog bond can keep Beveridge's pups together

Zaine Cordy has played just 13 games. Not everyone takes off like Marcus Bontempelli. Just ask Liam Picken. Maybe suspend judgement until he has played 50 games. Watch him carefully and you will see what is evident that he has been taken under Dale Morris’ wing and is already displaying some of the one on one skills that Morris has.

Developing a persecution mindset is not going to do the Swans any good at all…

Is it really 25 playing 22?

Don’t see what all the fuss is about…
