I agree completely….. I have never understood the opposition by some sections in the media for the Giants to play in Canberra. They win there, the crowds are loud and as you’ve pointed out the population is diverse.

Canberra - a footy success story

Loved watching him play for Hawthorn and was lucky enough to watch him play for my club this year. Could easily go on.

His confidence allows him to attempt the audacious and his skills let him carry it out.

He’s also a cheeky prick and his jabbing motion when playing against Essendon, really made me smile.

Love your work, he’ll be an excellent coach.

AFL superstar Sam Mitchell calls time on stellar career

Darling is unfairly maligned. He’s had a near 60 goal season playing without Kennedy.

What are the West Coast Eagles up to?

Flat-track bullies. I’m yet to see anything by this team that in any way justifies the media hype behind them.

They haven’t beaten a team in the top 8. Their best win was against a terrible, terrible Sydney in round 2 and they smash bad teams. What is so intoxicating about PA that the media (not this article) trip over themselves to praise them at the first signs of green shoots.

Dixon is emblematic of the team, looks great but crumbles when the game isn’t going his way.

Port Adelaide cruise to 40-point win over Lions

The negativity shown towards this game is just baffling.

If it’s a success then great, if it isn’t then what’s the harm in trying?

Roar and Against: It's a great idea to play an AFL match in China

You really could just stop at ‘pundits should have more patience’.

If there’s anything this year has taught us, it’s that.

Pundits must have more patience for our developing tall forwards

Wilson is someone who has grudgingly won my respect.

She’s someone who can come across as salacious, but really what she loves is holding power accountable – the very definition of journalism.

You don’t have to like her personality to respect her work.

The ugly side of the fourth estate

Kennedy is the best forward in the league. He might not be the best player, but he’s the best forward.

If you look at Franklin, it’s impossible to set up a team around him. Does he play up the ground? Doesn’t quite get the numbers of a winger or half forward. If he’s in the forward line, how do you structure around a player that can’t mark well above his shoulders and who’s freakish ability increasingly comes into play 60 meters out?

He’s an incredible player, freakish and dominant. He can win premierships and games by himself, but if he’s not that player on the day – you play with a key forward who isn’t an anchor, a midfielder that doesn’t find the ball enough. I think it speaks for itself that Hawthorn won two without him and Sydney can’t win one with him.

In many ways Franklin reminds me of Ablett – a freak that is almost impossible to build a team around.

Josh Kennedy is a brutal, beautiful reminder of the past

While not as vitriolic as yourself, I do tend to agree. It leaves an uneasy feeling in your stomach that isn’t going to be excised until the list has been completely turned over.

Seriously, if West Coast is still being brought up 10 years later after illicit drugs – the stench is going to keep for quite some time.

Essendon's uncomfortably strange and mightily impressive return
