And our all rounder is actually an all rounder. Not a bits and pieces short form cricketer.

'Maybe Mitch Marsh', 'Swepson deserves chance': Calls for bowling revamp after stalemate

These stats tell me that we are improving in the subcontinent. I think we’ll do good.

Lyon predicts pitch won’t turn as Australia set sights on 3-0 series sweep

“The 5 bowler option”? We have 5 bowlers anyway with Green in the team.

Traditional, radical, bowler heavy, two spinners: Which Test line-up will Australia choose in Pakistan?

Gee Ronan I hope your wrong but the selectors have selected him. It would be just as nuts to not play him otherwise why add him? As you mention who would he come in for? My golly gee they better not drop burns that would be as nuts as it gets to drop a player after 1 test back ( and only 1 innings) who has a consistent first class record over 40. They shouldn’t drop Harris as he is doing a solid enough job ( just needs to start turning those starts into hundreds) but hopefully that will come with time. They can’t drop Khawaja with his solid test record and first class record. Burns and Labashagne both batted well with out going on with it and young Kurtis Patterson had a solid debut with the bat and fielded brilliantly. But Freddie Flintoff of 2005 still haunts all our selection panel so someone will be dropped unfortunately me thinks.

Stoinis does not deserve a Test debut

1. Burns
2. Harris
3. Khawaja
4. Patterson
5. Wade
6. Maxwell
7. Paine
8. Cummins
9. Starc
10. Lyon
11. Hazlewood

VOTE: Pick your Australian XI to play Sri Lanka

Justin Langer has just said ” try being a selector at the moment, most guys in grade cricket and first class cricket average in the thirties. What we don’t want to do is reward poor performance”.
Well poor performance has been rewarded in Mitch Marshes case and also now Labuschagne. With the first class averages in the thirties thing yes most batsman are averaging in the thirties but not all. As most Roarers know there are some exceptions such as Maxwell (40 or more) Patterson (40 or more) Burns (40 or more) and there are some that are just a fraction under 40 but close.
Yes JL the cupboard is bare but there are options and better ones than what currently is being selected. Dear me when we have a tool as a coach it makes things difficult.

Langer a busy man, but not nearly as busy as his assistants should be…

I see your point but to be getting out time and time again playing a t20 shot is a different story. Especially when you are batting to save a test match.

Labuschagne's Test selection is a farce

the like being “he bowls leg-spin”

Labuschagne's Test selection is a farce

Great article Ronan, one little tweak I would drop Head instead of Harris. Reason being the way Head has been getting out after getting in is annoying me and he has had a couple more tests than Harris. He needs to tighten up outside offstump. Don’t get me wrong though the top six you mentioned I could definitely live with. It’s a lot better than the current trash being selected.

Labuschagne's Test selection is a farce

Couldn’t agree more but to answer the question “where are the batsmen”? In first class cricket not getting picked.

What's wrong with the baggy greens?

I agree no one can actually “fix” our batting woes. But what we can do Ronan is pick a batting lineup a lot better then the one in this current test. Like someone said yesterday our best first class batsman are not in this test team for some reason.

Wade cannot fix Australia's batting woes

All of the above

If the Perth pitch was ‘average’, the MCG is diabolical
