OOP, While I rate Hodge, why are you talking about him here as he’s not on the list for this test. I do think his big boot is an asset in getting us out of the 22 and over halfway. Cheers.

UK VIEW: 'Glaring failure in discipline, game management' as Eddie's 'horrendous homecoming' humiliating

Hhmmm, no Jake really improved his play around around the back of the breakdown this year was a massive improvement. Good long passes from the base, box and positional kicking, sniping runs, flat passes, inside passes, off loads. Defence. I found it very hard to fault him. No intercepts by the poopsition I saw. Tate also improved immensely too, but you had to give it to Jake. Being from out West I have no skin in it. Just want the best in. Cheers

Life of Hamish: We should recognise what McLennan has done for Australian rugby

QRB, well done, a good write up and great timing of publication. Yes we can easily forget the disaster of a few years ago and are lucky that we now have Hamish and his admistration driving Rugby in Australia forward, achieving what they have, questioning the norms and looking to get the best value of any deal. I think we have a lot to be grateful for even though we are not out of the woods yet. Cheers.
Re Raylene. This article is about Hamish and his team not Raylene though there has been an acknowledgement of her in the article. I think most unbiased people would agree that Castle did a lot for RA in her short time at the helm even though she was hugely hampered by the Kiwi and women haters and I feel ashamed as an Australian as to how she was treated by some of my fellow countrymen. Maybe QRB or someone else would like to write a separate article on Raylene’s time at the helm. Cheers.

Hi Harry, Jordan has to be the standout back of the series. He just brings so much to the game and position of fullback. If Foster puts anyone else as 15 he must be mad. I have always liked Tom Wright’s play but in the past it has been marred by brain fades. He has developed very well this season and now provides another valuable back pick for Oz and Jock has put his hand up though the position of 15 for Oz has not been claimed by anyone yet. Even with the opportunities provided, Banks has not convince me he is the 15 for Oz. His running game, especially on kick return is not good enough. Kellaway has been muted this season due to the lack of opportunity playing for the Rebles but I would still stick with him as RB for Oz. Sevu Reece is such a handful. His ability to slice through a packed defence is amazing and he could be a match winner for NZ. Looking forward to the contests next week. Cheers.

The Super Rugby Pacific impact XV

Well, lucky we Ned back in the fold to fill in so not too bad an outcome. Cheers.

Rugby News: Eddie hounded over Kerevi 'conflict' and predicts Rennie tactic, HJH blow, Smith on Farrell alliance

Hi Brandon, thanks for a wounderful dissection of these phases of rugby. Gives me more to watch out for in the games to come and digest. In your kick and pass stats, they total 50% for Aust and less for NZ and Eng. What are the actions for the other percentage? Contestable kicks and kicks to touch? Look forward to more from you. Cheers.

Kicking, why bother?: The Rugbycology data that explains when Test teams should punt the ball and how they should counter

Tim, I was there last year for a Rugby game and it was wonderful. We were about 15 rows up and about level with the try line. It was much better than being at Subi stadium on the centreline 10 rows up. Cheers.

ANALYSIS: Key match ups and strategy, plus who will win and why, for July's three massive rugby Test series

Thanks Mad, Harry and ozinsa, Perth Stadium is a wonderful place to watch Rugby. I was dubious when they decided to build it because it’s not purpose built for a rectangular pitch but it is spectacular. Cheers.

ANALYSIS: Key match ups and strategy, plus who will win and why, for July's three massive rugby Test series

Thank you Harry for such a superb piece. A very enjoyable read with some homework provided to help us counter the big A. The description of the diferent styles of play by clubs and countries was very enlightening and it will be very interesting to see which style dominates and how one team adjusts to counter the style of play of another. A fascinating few weeks to look foward to. I agree that SA vs Wales is a given with SA too strong in every department against Wales. It will be close for Oz against England and could go either way. But the ABs tests against Ireland could be Foster’s grave if he picks wrong. Maybe a good thing to happen now rather than ABs being exposed next year. These tour tests will give us some measure of the 3 southen teams but how they will perform against each other in the RC may be more difficult to gauge, particularlly in reference to SA as we do not see their clubs play in the Super Rugby any more. I have tickets for the Perth Test. Soooo looking forward to it.

You got to be kidding!!! For me, 1960 in Perth with a horse and cart. And in 1966 in England with a milk float. The horse and cart had it all over the milk float as you didn’t need to give it any instructions. It knew the way, when to stop and start again at each house. Cheers.

Geoff, Some of the younger folk may need to look up “milkman”. When was the last one you saw doing the rounds. Especially one with a horse and cart!!!

Yes also prepared the ABs for the Irish too.

'NZ have treated us poorly': Why Phil Kearns is backing RA's hard ball, and how rugby 'wins over league every week'

Fiwiboy, Yes, NZ playing themselves has a limited market no matter how good the marketing is. Cheers.

'NZ have treated us poorly': Why Phil Kearns is backing RA's hard ball, and how rugby 'wins over league every week'

Thanks for the article Tony. It has been great following Noah’s development this year and see him play with more surety and confidence as the year came on. He’s not there yet but is developing well to be a stand in next year for Quade as needs be and a definite contender for the position after the WC though a red headed bloke from the Tahs may provide a challenge.
Cheers.

'It sucked, I felt I let my team down': How Noah Lolesio dealt with Super Rugby drop kick pain, and how his mates reacted

Fiwiboy. That’s probably right but without the figures you can’t detetmine if NZ also got some of SAs money too. Cheers

Highlander, A great and interesting article. I agree with you on what the format of super rugby should be going ahead. Though it would be an added bonus finacially to get the Japanese clubs involved to make it a three way playoff for a Pacific Club Championship. But the downside maybe that the Japanese clubs will not give us the intensity we need. Cheers

Why Super Rugby Pacific is a failure when it comes to selecting match-ready Test teams

The view from Oz as I see it that over the last few years RNZ has been insular, dictatorial and unco-operative. It has been me, me ,me mentality. This is what I think, if not I will take my ball and play with my self. No real move to consult and go forward together. So it is no suprise that Oz is doing the same. Unfortunately it will be a loss going forward on both sides. I hope that some real consultation will occur and something good and reasonable will come out of this. I think like last year, 2 internal national super comps followed by a cross tasman super comp should occur followed by a 5 nation Cup with Japan included. This would give Oz the following, rivalry and interest between club supporters that started to develop last year. Cheers.

'NZ have treated us poorly': Why Phil Kearns is backing RA's hard ball, and how rugby 'wins over league every week'

Thanks fiwiboy for bring that to my attention but can you tell me how much was paid for each countries’ tv rights (SA, how much for NZ and how much for Oz) and then how much did each receive from the pool? I don’t seem to be able to find that information. To put it in real context we need those figures. Any one??? To me if NZ are paid $90m, how much of that is for the Mitre Shield, how much for the southen championships, how much for the SR Pacific? Similarly how much of Oz $30m is for the SC and how much for the SRP? In an equal world, the money for the SRP from both countries should be added together and divided equally between NZ and OZ. Similarly the money for the SC from all 4 countries should be the totaled up and divided equally between the 4 countries. There is no money from these comps for NZ if the other countries don’t play them except that NZs money from SRP would be halved to reflect that the size of that competition has been halved as it becomes a domestic NZ competion. With your remarks below you say NZ has been talking to Japan all last year, but OZ has not? It would be naive to think so. I think myself that there has been too much “go it alone” by both parties. As far as bring Japan into the fold the approach should have neen done jointly after much planning. The Japanese do not like conflict, they like consensus.
Cheers

'NZ have treated us poorly': Why Phil Kearns is backing RA's hard ball, and how rugby 'wins over league every week'

NZ really want their cake and eat it. During the orginally Super Rugby with SA,
WBs and ABs they were living off the cake of SA’s larger continutions from their TV takings and again when the Jaguars joined. They then as I remember tried it on to get England to part with some of Twickenham’s gate taking and got no where. Now they are not willing to share some of their TV taking with Oz. What h… I’ll leave you to day the word. 😊

Nick, what we need is all international and super rugby level refs come under the jurisdiction of WR hopefully, so we have the one set of instructions to all refs rather than local interpretations and bias. Cheers

Nick, The worst from a good ref was Poite in his final game. It was shameful.
