Watched most of the match, and thought that Collingwood had come to play showing greater intensity from the first bounce, and wanted the win more while Brisbane were terrible: poor efforts, skill errors, second to the ball, no fluency, & when Eric Hipwood has a shocker, he is an absolute liability to that side.

Footy Fix: The worst grand final rematch ever just proves the Pies have slightly fewer problems than Brisbane

I could write an article from our perspective detailing how we shot ourself in the foot all night too: our skills by hand and foot, decision-making, and composure were terrible for much of what was a mistake-ridden game by both teams, where momentum swung all night. Rolling the dice for the last few minutes won us the match.

Finals Fix: How Melbourne killed their season with the butcher job to end all butcher jobs

First game was at Princes Park in 1969 as a 5-year old – my thoughts.
Opposition have worked us out -> no Plan B C or D from Vossy & Co. Not one elite kick in the club: CC only relatively reliable, decent one. Shocking kicking skills has been a problem for 7-8 years at least. Try to go through the corridor to address the slow build-ups but can’t hit targets 25m+ reliably by foot, resulting in turnovers, putting teammates at disadvantage (in 50/50 marking contests, or open play). Lack composure: panic and turnover merchants, particularly when early heat is on/under pressure from opposition. Poor decision making. Inability to stop sides going coast to coast. Small forwards a “work in progress” (still): not enough goals, inconsistent forward pressure. Mentally soft, not only the obvious examples (e.g. end of last year choke, final minute disasters), but also losing to Adelaide and St Kilda (last year and this year) – we’re the Tottenham of the AFL. Too many on the list always injured (Marchbank; Cuningham; Martin; Williams pre-knee; McGovern; Philp) – cut our losses, get rid of them plus Dow, LOB, Kennedy, Ed C (given another year for being a loyal soldier!), and recruit more physically resilient players. Talk ourselves up too much (“we want to be known for being hard at the contest”; “our midfield are getting their identity back” “we’re cooking something up”) -> I realise that crap is to sell memberships, but good clubs don’t tell us, they SHOW us!!!
SOLUTION: recruit tough, resilient blokes who are composed and good decision-makers under pressure, can KICK, and the Club collectively keeps its mouth shut !!!

Blue Bagger nightmare: If not this year, when will Carlton's top-eight drought finally end?

I remember the names Georgiades and Beasley vividly!!!

Six Points: Don't write off Carlton just yet, 2023's dumbest act, and why Dee's ban is an utter disgrace

Michael Voss has Carlton shaping as a bottom six candidate

Two reasons the Saints lost: played their GF 2 wks ago against us (whom they always lift for); and Bevo had a plan for Hill and Sinclair.

AFL Friday Footy Fix: Saints bore their season to pieces as brilliant Bont keeps the Dogs alive

Worst (and probably costliest) performance of the year against an ordinary side …Outcoached; letting Sinclair and Hill run amok setting up for them; fumbling and dropping marks with no actual or perceived pressure; 8 goals resulting from turnovers Ratten doing his homework on us, allowing them to pick off our stupid attempts to play thru the middle when the kicks weren’t on; CC, SOS, H, Durdin, Hewitt, TDK missing easy shots; smashed in the centre clearances (again); ground ball gets nowhere near what they’d been earlier in the year; fwd pressure non-existent; competitiveness in marking contests feeble or nonexistent at times. Any chance we can come out snarling against sides who have copped criticism during the week? Because that’s what good sides do … take the game to the opposition. Pathetic, and we are still at least six players away from being a good side – for all their effort and some improvement, Newnes, Plowman, Cottrell and LOB’s deficiencies are still there.

AFL Friday Footy Fix: Voss' first blunder costs wayward Blues as Ratten's masterclass sparks Saints to life

Yep, needed someone to take the marks Harry was taking in the last qtrs of the close games, and TDK stepped up … I agree, could be a watershed moment for him.

AFL Friday Footy Fix: The Blues are the AFL's clutchest team... but it can't last

Swans lifted their workrate around clearances, contested ball and intensity at the start of the second half, ours dropped and our skill and decision-making errors from the early stages of the first quarter returned. 5 day break v 6 day break a factor? I’d take a Friday Night Lights 15 pt win against the Swans anytime no matter how it’s achieved, given how long we’ve been in the wilderness. We’re learning how to win, with the Next Man Up approach when it comes to our injuries i.e. the players who come in know our system, and we adapt. Having said that, would love Harry and Pitto back.
